I just don't want to turn into an Oak Ridge living off the ghost from the past.

Don't think I suggested that anywhere.

The reality is that Maryville will likely be a 3 loss regular season team this year with West still left to play.

But that doesn't negate that the Maryville program is still very much viable.  The feeder program cupboard is far from being bare, and there are still good coaches there.

The past is the past.  Nobody is living in that past.

I tried to tell all those boy's from Alcoa before the West game they didn't win the prize they thought they did, I'm pretty sure they understand that very clearly now.

To be very honest, we knew this was coming after last year. Just didn’t expect it to be Cleveland… Anyway, good luck with the rest of your season. Got a bunch of football left to be played.:thumb:

Congrats on the win.  But don't you worry, it's still gonna say you got an L to Bradley this year no matter how bad Maryville abuses them later.

I have an 8 year old son and he experienced a Cleveland win over Maryville before he has experienced a Cleveland win over Bradley, crazy times lol.

I think one thing that needs to be noted is how unbelievable Maryville has been since 1998...If not winning state titles, they are in the semifinals and I swear that has been an Oakland-Maryville annual affair since 2014 with the winner more than likely being your state champion. Congrats to Cleveland though on a herculean win over the Program in this area for the last 20 plus years! As for Maryville's decline? Not so fast my friends!

If anything I expect this Maryville team to come back fired up and ready to play and finish out the season strong playing Oakland again in the 4th round...and for those folks already handing them another loss from West, lets not get carried away with that since West has not beaten them since 1996...not to mention the best West team ever could only muster a 31-16 loss against Maryville back in 2014.

Again different teams, coaches, yadda yadda yadda, but just last year Maryville humbled West 35-7 and the score didn't even indicate how badly Maryville controlled and dominated that game! West better take them seriously or suffer the same fate as other past West teams have.

my thoughts too , Maryville had a great chance to win that Alcoa game . Maryville just needs to cut out mistakes, they still have one of the best RBs to ever play at Maryville. I’ve seen Maryville teams look bad during the season only to come together as a team and play their best ball when it counted . This team needs leaders to step up , Maryville can win every game they have left , but not with the effort and mistakes they had last night . Knocking someone to the ground after the whistle has blown is a totally selfish thing to do , especially for a senior, not caring that it will hurt your team is selfish. Disciplined , unselfish Football has won a lot of Games for Maryville over the last 20 years and it still can today.

I am surprised that this coaching staff hasn’t even thought of giving another Qb some meaningful Snaps , Maryville has usually always given the backup Qb meaningful snaps , and I don’t see how that could hurt us this year . Maybe a different look , a different style?

    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
