It's that time of year

Boy did we ever learn our lesson last year at Maryville on the transfer portal regarding a quarterback. You can't take someone out of a little Ford Ranger and throw them into a Lamborghini and give them the keys and say take off. If he had another year in the system things would have been a lot better for that young man which is a great athlete.

With NIL and the new coach the Green Wave should clean up.  How many players from other schools have they targeted?  I hear Station Camp and Beech have some good players coming up.

Comical that you think kids from Station Camp or Beech would go to Gallatin after these upcoming classes from both schools have done nothing but beat Rucker and Shafer at the middle school level and Gallatin's freshman teams. New coach has to worry about beating Station Camp first before he worries about recruiting their kids.

Reassuring that Maryville is capable of a down year at the position. I've lost count how many QBs they've had in the last 25 yrs that ended up playing FBS or FCS

The last 2:

Carson Jones currently at Furman, just finished his first season.

Dylan Hopkins just wrapped up his career at UAB, starting the last 3 years.

We're living in the new generation where "My boy isn't going to play second fiddle to no body". Six years ago Maryville had nine quarterbacks this year they had two. They already had two and one transfers to Maryville and one quits. This will be a never ending thing with the qb position no matter what team it is. Just like college and the transfer portal, no body is going to be anyone's back up or off they go to another school. just hope the real transfer portal doesn't happen to high school football or we'll have a dozen schools using the rest as it's minor league system. Privates already play that game but when public schools do we'll be in a mess.

Cade Chambers is starting QB at Indiana State.

Yes all those QB's went through the system to learn and paid the price and wasn't just thrown in on the spot trying to learn on the job. That was the big difference this past year. Had this one went through from the start he would have been signing to play somewhere a few weeks ago because he had the ability and all the tools to do so. Had he been here his junior year you could of erased 3 of those loses off last years record.

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
