Mustangs and Lions are a very similar. Both very physical, just wear you down. Would love to see that matchup. Hardin Co ain't beat nobody. That QB would have a hard time getting out of bed on Saturday morning after an encounter with the Mustang defense. JCS's QB has Huntingdon roots, but still not enough. JCS has a few playmakers but the Mustangs have a bunch.

I bet your QB would be soarer than Hardin county’s on a Saturday morning after a game between these two.

You think you could with stand the passing attack of those two?  I don’t know if you match up well with the stud receiver for JCS. I feel pretty confident they could send him out on a deep route and y’all wouldn’t have anyone to stop him. Hardin CO’s qb May be the best in the area. So you don’t think y’all are better than Dresden??

I don’t believe they could handle the passing attack of these two. I believe there would be multiple mismatches.

I have to have Hardin County at either 2 or 2B. While the boys at Stanktown are a top notch team, the numbers game has to favor Hardin Co in a theoretical matchup. Overall size, speed, and depth have to be taken into account. Their offense will win games but when faced against a team as big, strong, and quick it's definitely not designed for an air raid or a quick rally. JMO

I don’t know where we should be ranked in BPM’s poll but I 100% agree with the rest of this post. Stanks are a good team but not invincible.

Good list, hate to see us drop but it’s obviously warranted. Ready to see us and Milan play!

I know it's hard to swallow a loss, but the ultimate goal for this season hasn't changed, and for what my opinion matters an early season loss to Huntingdon doesn't put you in a worse place than a win would have. Good competitive game between two of the favorites, and I think the Panthers could've played better/been healthier than they showed Friday night. From the radio broadcast (Huntingdon announcers), it sounded as if Riverside missed a couple of shots at scores and #25 wasn't 100%...might be different next time if both get there.

I'm going to disagree with you. JCS has the physicality on the front 7 on defense to slow Huntingdon down. Will Huntingdon get score? Yes. But JCS will get stops.

The thing with JCS is their offense can come at you in different ways, and it's tough to stop because it's a unpredictable offense. They don't just have Mosley, but they have #9 which is a good running back and he can catch out of that position, too, #88 Collins is a good complimentary receiver, #85 Green is a huge TE that doesn't get the ball enough in my opinion, but he is tough to bring down. If you want to double team Mosley, go ahead, but how can you defend everyone else. I know Huntingdon may have a good D-Line, but the ball is going to be out quickly from Kelly's hand, the D-Line isn't going to matter.

I do believe Hardin County is better than JCS, but JCS is a really really good football team.

Since Huntingdung and JCS won’t play each other this season, all we can do is look at each team’s performance against like opponents. You think the Stanks and Dresden would be a great game between two similar team and I agree.  However I think that JCS is a good bit better than both Dresden and the Stanks. Here is my reasoning. USJ beat Union City. Dresden struggled to beat Union City. JCS destroyed USJ. The last 2 weeks JCS has not just beaten undefeated teams, they have dismantled them. They have a receiver that will go to college pretty much wherever he wants. May be the best player in West TN. Nobody has even come close to stopping him so far. I don’t think Huntingdung could either. Now I fully admit I could be wrong. Huntingdung has beaten 3 really good teams the last 3 weeks. Hats off to them.

For what it's worth, I think you have  Huntingdon ranked appropriately. I don't feel like we could beat any of the teams you have ranked ahead of us with the exception of MAYBE Dresden.

As much as I dislike the Stanks, I truly try to be as fair as possible when I do this poll. Even with Milan. I try my best to put everyone where I think they truly should be.

Riverside is very good. Game could have gone either way. Huntingdon didn't play perfect but played clean enough to get the win. #25 I'm sure was banged up but the way he played defense he wasn't hurt to bad. He gained 243 yds on us the last encounter last season. He gained 19 yds Friday night!

I'm just not sold on Hardin Co. Saw them scrimmage Riverside and wasn't impressed. I think they would have a hard time matching the Mustangs physicality. Huntingdon will lite you up. Most teams we have played this year haven't been ready to get hit like the Mustangs hit you!

2.  Dyersburg 7-0 W 30-0 over Westview

3.  JCS 7-0 W 35-7 over FACS

4. Hardin Co. 7-0 W 35-3 over Chester Co.

5.  Dresden 7-0 W 31-28 over Union City

6.  Huntingdung 5-1 W 22-15 over Riverside

7.  McKenzie 6-1 W 57-7 over Perry Co.

8.  Munford 6-1 W 31-7 over Arlington

9.  Haywood 6-1 W 50-12 over Trezevant

10. Riverside 5-2 L 22-15 to Stanks

Outside Looking In:  Covington 5-2, Milan 6-1, TCA 4-2, South Gibson 5-2, Crockett 5-2, Union City 4-3

Dyersburg and JCS with impressive wins this week. The Stanks move up after 3 big wins in a row. Moving ahead of the only team to beat them on the season as I feel if that game were played now the outcome would be different. Several really solid teams in West TN, but are these the best 10??

I like it. Think I’d swap Dburg and Hardin Co but that’s it.

I have seen Dburg several times this year. I think they have the best defense in West TN. I feel like their front seven would shut down Hardin’s run game and force them to be one dimensional. Once they have to pass, Dburg would pin their ears back and nobody can block Kalen Edwards for Dburg. Boy will go to school wherever he wants. Did the same thing to Westview last week and they had 5 interceptions. Just my opinion though. I may be very wrong.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
