Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes. Yesterday morning, a little before 6AM, my mother went to Heaven. Had COPD for awhile but now that fight is over. God called her home. Thanks again everyone. Means a lot.

Youth football has gone the way of travel teams baseball now. It's free agency every year. And that has carried over in to high school sports, as well.

Numbers are a real problem with most feeder programs these days across the board. Just not as many kids wanting to play, or better said not as many parents wanting their kids to play for several reasons. My two older grandsons (7 and 8) are in flag football and hearing some of the things from parents about what will happen when their sons reach the age where they have to play tackle football scares me. I'm just not sure about the future of football at this point.

There is no more East and West. We are down to one team per age group. 7U, 9U, and 11U. That's it. Coach knows the importance of the youth league. He built the West youth football league from the ground up and that league is still thriving to this day. He also knows the middle schools have to be on the same page with the high school staff. At least running some common concepts. The biggest challenge right now is clearly the ability to build a staff. Right now we have 3 coaches total. It may take a while, but I'm excited for the direction moving forward. We got a coach now that is willing to do all parts of the HC job and to run a legitimate year round football program.

Signing in February has been his choice for a while now. Their position coach visited right after the title game. I'm sure UT would love to have him, but I don't think Georgia nor Jordan is wavering in their commitment

WOW!!! Might want to research that statement Hoss. Benny won three state titles in a row in the 1990's, back when there were only three classifications, which included all of the private schools. With that being said, I thought that Scott Cummings would be the type of person that could get Cleveland back to where they used to be. Cleveland is a lot different now than it used to be 20-30 years ago. I don't know if anyone can get them back. Personally, I can't stand Cleveland (Crooks), but I really miss our team playing them (hoping TSSAA will put them back in 5A after next season). I do think that Coach Cummings will have a lot of success at Oak Ridge. He is a really good coach, and will have tremendous backing. NO EXCUSES!!! Good Luck to the Wildcats!!!

This is true, but he will have to convince the school board to create a teaching position or two for the coaches that Scott wants to bring. Because right now, there is only 1 teaching position open and it's science. Neither of the two coaches he wants to bring has that endorsement to teach science. My point exactly. Dr. Adams knows what needs to be done. Can he get the schoolboard to do what needs to be done. Right now we only have 1 football coach of the 3 left on staff in the high school building, and that will be Coach Cummings. It would be incredibly difficult for anybody to run a football program when they are the only football coach in the school building. Sometimes I feel like I am speaking Chinese on here.

I will say this that the current principal is an ex-player and coach and is very much in tune with what is going on and the process of change, I think he really wants winning football here and he will see that Coach Cummings has as full support as possible.

@LittleJerrySeinfeld any word from your hire on the recruiting trail? They better batten down the hatches in North Knox. Is he building the Broadway to Bearden pipeline?

This is true, what about the last 2 years, do you also think the better team didn't win? 58-7 ? It is more fun when Clinton is any good, but we have yet to see that out of the current Clinton team.

I'm just a alum who played there a few decades ago (manual was in place prior my arrival). Personally, I have no patience for coaching or parents it is just easier to sit here and talk shop and Monday QB with the real minds. Being married to a teacher myself only solidifies my stance on having no patience for kids everyday. But I do think JJ gets a bad rap here by many who choose to not acknowledge he didn't invent this environment, he just adapted to it. I wish JJ the best but his success or how he does at Bearden has no impact on me.

Parton isn't a returning state champ but he was a finalist at 145 in single A last year and since Cleveland is AA there is no mention.

I see West and Powell on a collision course for the fourth year in a row. Without Nolen and a coach or two, West’s chances are looking better and better.
