  1. I am sure Dyersburg has a very good team. There are always great athletes coming out of Dyer county. I doubt they could win if they shoot it this bad, but every team has a bad game or two. I have not seen film on them so I cannot say how they would match up against White county. White has a 6’3 post Player that will be an extremely tough matchup for anyone. In my opinion, White county has gotten better throughout the year and they are undoubtedly playing their best basketball right now. I think even Mushy Shockley could win with this team. For those of you that don’t know that’s an inside joke.

  2. Okay @littlejohnny, it is a free country, and you can say what you want. But, as a McCallie fan, I think we can do better. We are all thrilled we won. That part is good. The part about the Baylor kids--I did not like that part-- there but for the grace of God go I. This could easily be any kid at any school. And before any of you say, not my kid--fine, your kid is different. But on average, no. Finally, a couple things about winning. When you do it, it pisses people off. So, you don't have to try to piss people off more--WHICH you have already done. So, when you have already beaten people + talked $h!t to piss them off more, they have even more motivation--and it gives them more satisfaction when they beat you. Now, if you were on the field/mat and could defend your comments, that would be fine. But you are not. So, try not to give these guys any additional motivation, please. Learning how to win hard--it may be harder to keep winning. Potter and the football team have figured it out. They quietly take care of business. We have had some success. If our guys work hard, we may have some more. How we win is just as important and affects how much we win in the long run and who these kids become.

  4. I haven’t seen Dyersburg play and I’m sure they are good but White co has it all. Any team that comes out of this district will have a shot to win it all every year.

  5. Nope...I'm sure it'll be somebody locally. Lake County administration isn't to keen on hiring outsiders. Unless it's to give them one of the 80,000 plus jobs at the local board of education. Going locally is an easier decision. It's sad when you have applicants with "far superior backgrounds, accomplishments and experience." This is verbatim from an individual high up in the administration. So, we shall see. I think it was a total of 19 applicants.

  14. When the HC has a philosophy you gotta follow it, unfortunately for Rhea Co, his philosophy ran off a lot of skill players that otherwise would of been a great fit for a more balanced attack utilizing spread formations. Imagine having to prep for a team that could run a spread and wing-T at a high rate of success on any given play. Matchup nightmare.

  16. Jose. He's a returning state champion from Cleveland. Expectation is for him to win, so imo he has the pressure.

  17. @GregoryMartin You seem like someone close to the situation, a person in the know, with these little tidbits of information. I'd guess you have a vested interest in who gets the job and would desire McNairy Football to achieve much, much more than the past decade or more. Maybe not, could be you're for the competition and enjoying the chaos, however, I doubt it! And as they say, attitude reflects leadership - I agree with you that the powers that be are at the core of this current situation. Usually, I'm amused at your rantings, however, being someone who doesn't have the power to hire/fire said persons or coaches (if you do....you're probably part of the problem ) it also looks bad that you'd bash these poor souls who are interested in coming to a place in such disarray. Yes, fans are entitled to their opinions, but when you have "manure" to offer (not speaking about the kids, just the situation) you're not going to get the creme de la creme until those things are fixed. Also, I'm not saying these candidates are not good coaches or people - I'm saying that as a fan you may not get the sexy hire but at least someone who is capable and can right the ship.

  19. That's how kids get recruited these days is 7v7. Some dad or handler runs a team and then gets kids to change schools. Once the one time transfer rule gets passed then all heck will break loose

  20. That makes more sense if you thought the parents were coaches on the team bench. That can still be a slippery slope, as you will always have that one parent who will think that coach is giving their own kid more opportunities, but that situation is VERY different than have a parent “ coaching” from the spectator stands. Having said that, I edit my original response to say, if the parent is qualified, the school system allows it, and the interview process is the same for anyone applying for the job…I see nor harm here. I personally know 3 coaches who have coached their own kids. No real issues with any of them, all know the game, and all appear to coach unbiased.

  22. Brackets are LIVE! You can start filling them out now. A few things… 1. this is ONLY D1 AA. 2. There is a “true second match” just pick your runner up to win that, and then at the bottom there’s a drop down to pick the champion 3. Brackets will LOCK when wrestling starts at 10:00 AM CST on friday, so please make sure you get everything filled out before then! 4. I did my best to enter everything in correctly, however i am human, so if you notice any mistakes, please let me know. Last but not least, good luck, and HAVE FUN with it. There is no grand prize, just friendly competition. Enjoy!

  23. Cause the parent isn’t the Coach. If you wanna coach get a job as a coach and do it! Otherwise stay out of the way!

  24. The adults can have at it on this one. I love all these guys. Here is how much they care about this question before opinions start flying on here. These guys are all good friends and they train and travel together all the time. They don’t care about “who is best.” We could probably learn a lesson or two from these boys. #TNWrestling #OneWrestlingFamily #BestSportEver

  25. I enjoyed sitting next to you tonight@FargoStrut It was a blast! Mattox is one of the best kids I’ve ever seen wrestle….period. That whole group they’ve got coming in is awesome. For me though, I don’t care if their group is better or not. Let’s just make sure they wrestle each other and enjoy it while it lasts. That level of competition is what raises the bar for TN wrestling.
