Ah, Cap so because you met the parents you are singing his praises to high heaven? You guys getting married or something? Why else meet the parents? You met them once and you're convinced they're great loving people. Having good parents doesn't make you a good basketball player. In any type of system, up-tempo, half-court, you still gotta play defense, take smart shots, and play with a positive attitude. Vannoy doesn't display those characteristics. The thing is, Vannoy can control all of this stuff, that's why I've been going off about him. If Austin Box reads this, I'm sorry for the earlier disses of your game. Box plays with what he has, and that's all you can ask for. Vannoy subtracts so much from what really is a pretty talented player. If he wanted to, he could play tough defense, shoot more shots under control, rebound, and stop sulking on the court. For a wing, he has very good size and he's athletic, to me that rings of a game changer. Well, he does change the game, but not for the better. Cap, let me put this in a light that you can understand, if I was starting a team, I would take every starter you had and maybe a couple of bench guys before I'd take Vannoy. And you guys are what, 9-7?

Vannoy??™s parents are ???good people?????¦that??™s my opinion. But here is a fact??¦Corey drew Nathan to guard in this past game. The fact is that Witcher ALWAYS puts Corey on the opposing team??™s biggest scoring threat unless that threat is a post player??¦that is a fact that is easily supported. So obviously Coach Witcher (as I??™m sure most coaches) considers him a scoring threat more so than Roberts or Box. I??™m not singing Vannoy??™s praises??¦(Had to delete. Got ahead of myself) /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> And if you don??™t think Nathan isn??™t playing D or getting rebounds...or that he??™s taking poor shot selections and shooting out of control??¦you need to talk to your Coach. That??™s what he??™s there for. Obviously he??™s not seeing these ridiculous claims you??™re making or else he feels Vannoy (with all his flaws) is a better option than the others (with the so called ???complete game???), because Vannoy continuously is getting the nod over these others that you claim are ???pretty talented players???. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> And I might also add that Vaughn is a veteran coach that has seen some talent in his days. So Rebelman, let me put this in an even brighter light so you can understand. If they were to combined Central??™s and THS??™s basketball team today, there would only be TWO players off of the Central team that would even see the floor (being that Uptown Brown is hurt)??¦Vannoy and Devault. And it??™s a strong possibility that they would BOTH start. Not saying that to ???pump??? anybody up??¦that??™s just the truth. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> By the way we are 10-7, but to you that would translate to 6-1 and FIRST place in the Big Nine conference. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

I really don't see what parents have to do with the situation of the Central team. This should be between the players and coaches. You are the very one to talk about throwing gas on the fire (on this board). I heard a quote a little while ago. If you can't play basketball, "YOU COACH", if you can't do either you "REF", and in your case if you cannot do either of these, YOU POST ON COACH T. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Or in your case, YOU post on coacht because you were on your school team for four years; never missed a day of practice and was first every time in all the wind sprints, but only got in the game with 20 seconds left in each game your Senior year. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> You know Hightop??¦I also heard an old saying;???if you can??™t out play them on the court, get a couple of your friends to trash them on coacht.??? /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Are you laughing at yourself too? Your quote applies to you as well. Point is, Vannoy is a nice kid with good parents. I personally don't care much for his play, but he has potential. Doesn't take away from his personality, but on the court he is not producing at the moment. The Cougars, as a team, are lost right now, trying to find an identity. It's not solely anyones fault. Vannoy, who has taken most of the shots this season, surely deserves the most criticism when Sullivan Central is losing. I suppose we'll see what response he gets when they are consistantly winning again, if that happens, and who gets the credit. Let us not forget, though, Vannoy did transfer from Sullivan East and is a junior. That information coupled with the comments made by others on this thread, actually is fuel for the fire.

He??™s taken most of the shots?? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> If he has it??™s probably because he??™s one of the few on that team that can actually shoot in traffic outside the paint. They haven??™t had ANY production out of their guards since Brown got injured??¦and you can honestly say that Vannoy shooting is a factor in them loosing games? Did you really see the same game I did Monday night? You know what??¦I give up??¦most of you that are trashing Vannoy or his game would be the very ones crying crocodile tears if a Ashlon Adams or a Chris Smith was to transfer to your team even though it would obviously be a big improvement no matter how you look at it. And you would probably use the ???I just don??™t like his game??? excuses to trash them too. Like I said before (and I??™m not saying this directly to you Tsporsfan but just in general) ???If you can??™t beat um, trash um on coacht???!!! Most of you are stuck in the rutted believe of ???who needs a drop-step or a crossover when you can shoot the three ball???. That??™s a mentality that will always keep you here in Northeast Tennessee fighting for Fourth place in the Big 9 conference??¦.believe that!!! /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Cap, you hit the nail on the head here. Vannoy IS a scoring threat, but that's it. He's a liability on defense and on the boards. The only reason I'm posting about him on here is that I'm hoping "for Cougars sake" that he'll read this stuff and start playing the full game not just on the offensive end. The coach knows this and has talked with him several times to no avail, but, how can you sit someone that does score when your team is not playing good, you just can't do that. So, I'm done talking about this subject, hopefully he'll read some of this and it will click that it's a team game and it's played on both ends of the court. Cap, you have made some valid points on this so as far as I'm concerned this subject is closed to me. I will be posting more about the Cougars, but not about Vannoy. Have a Good Day.

Coacht.com is made to promote high school athletics in Tennessee and now Alabama. People don't post because ofany short comings. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Some have even acheived sport success in their hay-day. Some have played and coached this great sport. It's not what you used to do that makes someone a poster on here. It is one of two things.... 1) you love high school sports and enjoy talking, while promoting high school athletics and the kids that play them; or 2) you love to get on here and spew venum about what's wrong with associations, programs, teams, coaches, or players. Now, I ask you..... which one are you going to be today? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" GOD BLESS!!!!!

PS.... I agree with 99% of your post CAP1, but the one percent you left out is that these people get on here and trash people even when they are winning, just not their own program. If Central was winning, there would be some who still would trash Vannoy. I haven't seen the kid play yet, and even if my opinions were to be negative, I would keep it to myself unless I was trying to give constructive criticism, and that can only be done by going to the Coach or Player DIRECTLY....not on here...... /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> If you're not building up, you're tearing down....

Now I can respect and appreciate that post Odoul! For one reason, I myself have used this forum for the similar situations??¦but the main reason is because IT??™S THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> You are (IMO and from the sound of it) genuinely trying to motivate a player in which you know can do better, and letting him know (in a round about ???coacht??? way) that you expect more. The problem comes when you get the Clowns piling on because ???little Jimmy??? is being overshadowed by the big bad newcomer. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Good post. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Man, you came to cap's rescue mighty quick. I guess the saying is probably right in line for you too. I don't remember any of you posts saying you were on the floor, unless you were the manager!!!!!. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

As far as Central, this starts with the Coach. I have watched Central games since Vaughn has coached, and have never seen him let a kid have this much freedom on the floor. You got to remember these senior parents and players has seen Vaughn coach for 4 years or more, and has never seen a kid treated like this. Even POY Buchanan, Weatherford, Hess and the list could go on, never got this much special treatment, and they are head and shoulders better than any player on this years team. In my opinion, its not the kids fault. The coach has complete control of his team, whether it is good or bad.

Stok, let it be known that I have no coaching experience, but there's two things I know. I could do a better job coaching the Los Angeles Clippers and I could do a better job coaching the 2008-2009 Cougars. I'm not saying I have all the answers and Central could start beating everyone but I certainly could do a better job managing the players who never seem to be on the same page. Believe me, there's some anamosity between those players right now, there's gotta be. Anybody could smoothe that over better than Vaughn.

It is a coaching problem at Central, has been for years.Vaughn should have been gone 5yrs ago.The coaches job is to motivate and make players better at their game, thats not happening at Central.JMO

Capital 1, you lost me somewhere along the line, but what I think you're accusing me of is bashing Vannoy because he's the transfer and he's taking minutes away from a kid who's been there all along. That's what I got out of it, but I could be wrong. If so, that's not true at all. I don't care one way or another about that. Ashlon Adams for example, who pulled a Vannoy and transferred schools, I am a huge fan of his game. I don't care that he transferred. I don't know any of the Central players, so I'm not upset that some kid isn't getting playing time. Me and Odo are both posting in hopes that Vannoy reads it and settles down. Odo just does it with a little less color. But I'm posting in the 1% of him reading this and saying, "I need to play smarter." Plus, I'm not gonna hold back on a kid that plays with very poor body language. And for what you said about him taking the most shots, heck yeah he's taken the most shots. If you can make them, then I don't care how many shots you take, like Odem can take as many as he wants. But if Vannoy isn't hitting them, and a lot of times he isn't, then give up the ball. Simple.

The second half of the season has started and already some interesting controversy. This issue squarely rides on the shoulders of the coach. It is not for us to assume that Vannoy has the green light or the coach has tried to contain his play. It's amazing when a team is losing, how people have the perfect remedy to fix all ailments. Some of these people should quickly go to their school administrators and apply for a head coaching position since they CLEARLY know how to coach, and do it better than our Big Nine coaching carousel. I love this coacht.com website, but sometimes things can get a little outta hand. As the TN High banner reads in Viking Hall.... "Let the players play, coaches coach, refs ref, etc....." If you have not seen this banner, please feel free to support the TN High basketball team one night, take a trip to Viking Hall, and educate yourself in the process. Then go back to your supporting team and have some fun. GOD BLESS!!!!!

I agree things can get out of hand on these boards. That's usually why I stick to the stats, information, and analysis, less mess there. I have made comments about Vannoy, rightfully or wrongfully. I have my opinions, but you are correct when you say if it's not building someone up, it's tearing someone down. For the negative things I've mentioned I take responsibility, I'll back away from being foolish. Stokomo, you put it in perspective.

rebelrebelman, I would like to make a public inquiry into your interest in becoming the first head men??™s basketball coach at York-Sullivan High School, a grades 8-12 military academy I hope to open in downtown Kingsport sometime in my lifetime. What will it cost me?

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
