  3. I tried to explain the same thing to BlueDevil58 on the Greeneville Thread. I don't think he has a clue how much Ballard was making at Greeneville (No i'm not talking about what you will find as his teaching salary, head coaching salary, and assistant AD salary). When your winning you don't have to smooze boosters and thats proven by how many sponsors Greeneville has for a small community. Heck we did raise 25k in a couple of weeks to pay for those Championship rings. He thinks Ballard will have more time for his family being an assistant coach at DB ( Driving to Kingsport from his Farm in Western Greene County, Being able to watch Cade in NY or wherever Army is playing on Saturday while coaching a game on Friday and then being back to Break Down Film on Sunday, Seeing his twin daughters play sports, etc. ). I believe you will see Caine Coach again once Cade has graduated from Army

  4. It was a great first half of basketball for Dresden. They really battled to the end. The one thing that I would like Chloe to do is drive the basketball more. She had so many opportunities to just take it to the hoop, but settled for a jumper. I know when you are open you want to shoot the ball, but if your game is taking it to the basket, then why don't you do it. I know Chloe drove it some in the second half but she needs to do it more. I think Dresden is improved since their loss against Gleason and they are starting to play like the Dresden of old.

  5. Glad to see someone joining the conversation instead of talking about bracket placement! Is it weird that I think Bradley being 3rd would be an upset? It sure sounds weird! But they seem to be on a down year. We shall see though! I know you will agree with me when I say I really hope R6 and R7 make some serious noise! Really excited to see how Centennial matches up with the “top teams”

  7. Most metro middle schools have their own field.

  8. It's hard to upkeep a field when you have the following using the same "grass" field... Oakland High Varsity Football Oakland High JV Football Oakland High Freshman Football Oakland High Girls Soccer Oakland Middle Varsity Football Oakland Middle JV Football Oakland Youth Football League Tell me a metro field that is getting that much use?

  9. I totally agree with you 100% on this one! That guy is maybe the top defensive mind in the state! CKC will tell you himself he would'nt have had the kind of success he has had without Coach Jackson. MOJO

  10. Id say Riverdale and Blackman. If there is one thing that can be said about Oakland its that their game field up keep is below par. Its as bad as some lower budgeted metro fields. BIG MONEY BUDDY

  11. I agree this will be an exciting game. We'll see how the Tigers handle the noise from the Eagleville crowd. We've done well on the road, but will take everyone contributing to help slow down the Eagles. I do think that the Eagleville gym is so large, and fans so removed from the action, that the Tigers shouldn't be intimidated. We should be at full strength as well, no issues with players out for sickness.

  12. Weight room work is important but being in shape is crucial. Nobody cares whether you bench 200# or 400# if your tongue is hanging out by the end of the 3rd quarter! Speed and endurance kills! I hope we run the guys this off season until they are puking lol.

  13. Principal hired him as a favor from her admin which is buddies with this coach and game him the weight room and told him he can coach football. Williams didn't hire him. We are all outsiders in this but these are facts . Once again I don't know the guy and I think highly of STEVE O. From my understanding he hasn't been coaching long and hasn't had a bigger role such as a coordinator but thinks he can run the show that baffles me. Like previously stated I know you don't want to believe it but these facts came from very strong sources and it's been getting around. You reap what you sow. Nobody wants someone like that around . Good luck to Steve he will be bounce back . Antioch is a good start up job and could be good down the road with the demographics moving in Hillwood principal is one to work for, he cares about athletics. Can't wait to see his hire...

  14. CBG I think you are correct about the zone. Plus most of the Melrose area goes to Hillsboro now if not all of it. Bleacher I heard Hillwood made a sweeping hire. Any truth to that.

  15. This probably has to do with Riverdale getting in trouble several years ago because of a booster club issue.

  16. Again, this is a miss basketball 2018-2019 thread. If you have a valid candidate throw them out there and compare. If not, quit showing you ignorance and lack of class by trying to bash players that you envy.

  18. Courtney Whitson is the real deal. 52%for 2 pt goals,43% for threes and 77% for free throws. Most of the time she is double and triple teamed.

  19. Courtney Whitson for Tennessee AAA Miss Basketball. Only 16 points away from becoming the all time leading scorer, boys and girls, at historic Dobyns-Bennett high school, she has 2218 points. Whitson is averaging 24.9 poaints per game and 10.1 rebounds. She’s the only player to ever become a member of the 1000 point / 1000 rebound club, much less the 2000/1000 club. Leading AAA Girls Basketball with 13 double doubles this season, Courtney has amassed 75 career double doubles at DB. If you get a chance to go watch her play it’s worth your time. She’s a tough competitor and just as big in character. Nominate and vote for Courtney Whitson 2019 Tennessee AAA Miss Basketball

  20. What is the John Overton zone today? At one time it crossed Franklin Road and went to Granny White Pike but my understanding now is that kids that live on the other side of Franklin Road (directly across the street from John Overton) are zoned for Hillsboro. But lets be honest and say that MNPS have and always will be open zoned if you furnish your own transportation. At one time all high schools in the MNPS system offered a class that the others did not offer. You told everyone that you wanted to take that special class and you were accepted even if you transferred out the following day. I am not sure today you even have to go through that much effort.

  21. Stephen Jackson, Oakland DC. He gets overshadowed because of the talent and the reputation of his boss, but the only reason he isn't a HC is by choice

  22. Yes and no. Around this area, I can tell you the "bad" tendencies of the ref's before the game starts. When you walk into the gym and see who is calling, and know beforehand the type of calls, unprofessional behavior, or in some instances, which team will be favored, there's a problem that could be resolved with some structure. One in particular ( I never do names ) will assert himself as the center of attention in more games than not, and will probably issue more than double the amount of technical fouls than the next high person per year. Another will almost without fail, at some point during the game, completely disengage from the action and argue with some fan(s) for a long period of time, yet rarely ever issues a technical. Others also have "pet" fouls like blocking on a screen... two come to mind, with one calling the contact a blocking foul regardless of position, and ironically, the other will call an offensive foul or push, even if the defender causes contact while moving forward. The structure I spoke of would involve the chain of command. Some of the worst cases of these examples listed have occurred with the official who evaluates the performance of our regions officials in the stands to no avail. I'm not an official, but have called several junior league games in the past... I know how difficult it is to refrain from reacting to the fans, to call only what you see, and to be in position to see the action. I'm not an expert, and have no desire to be one... having said that, I do know the difference between human error and misinterpretation of rules, and professional and non professional behavior. I'm also not a butcher, but I know a good steak when I see one.

  23. In no particular order: A - Chloe Moore, Tess Darby, Karly Weathers Will probably come down to Moore and Darby, but their votes could split and Weathers win it as a Freshman. AA - Keeley Carter, Gracee Dishman, Braelyn Wykle Have watched all of these play and depends on everyone's definition of Miss Basketball; could see any of them get it. AAA - Jayla Hemmingway, Jada Guinn, Courtney Whitson Again, have watched all three play and depends on voter's definition of Miss Basketball.

  24. Metro has a lot of great assistant coaches, Coach Davis at East must be doing something right, as he was recognized for it. The DC at Hillsboro consistently has a great and talented defense. Don't sleep on Hillwood's OC (name escapes me). Watching them was a lot of fun and they utilized their talent well. Interested to see what they do in their HC search

  25. Oops looks like someones feathers were ruffled. Pioneer baseball will remain "ok" as long as certain kids get playing time and coaching opportunities. maybe "pioneersports" had a hand in all this???

  26. Well I think it's great to have a young man want to get into coaching..its changed so much through the years..the new generation needs to ease on in and fill us old timers spots..lol. My advice..although I think it's great getting your name on here but I would contact the coaches where you think you might want to coach..that way you may develop a favorite or maybe they would be willing to get you started or know someone that will?? Coaches know everybody in the field. Contrary to belief coaches are pretty good guys for the most part..lol..Good luck young man! Follow your dreams!

  27. The upcoming Sophomore (McCurry) will be the QB as I have heard the coaches talk about his potential going back to last summer when the Middle School kids could start practicing with the team. And with the JV going (5-1) has done nothing to make me think different. I agree #5 (Morgan) will probably be the featured back. There is a number of other guys who will get carries a Senior who was injured all last season should see time in the backfield as well as LB if he comes back. As well as a number of underclassmen the coaches are high on. (#26) from this past year graduated. The FB will probably be the Sophomore (Meeks) some of you who follow the SVC Middle School conference probably remember that name. There is any number of potential ball carriers a few of which will probably be moved to receiver. Hopefully they can get another couple of athletes in the school to come out and play like they did the last season with several Sophomores & Juniors who hasn't been on the team before like the Senior (Carr) who had played in LL & MS but had only played Basketball & Baseball in HS until then and played spectacularly in the defensive backfield. Including several who had gave up football under the last coach.
