  1. Good luck this week Oak Ridge. You CAN WIN this game. It is just a matter of believing in yourselves and executing. I do not care if it is a plain old vanilla play, they WILL work executed properly. NOW suck it up and get ready to rumble Friday night. Student body, forget heing and sheing for just a couple of hours and support YOUR team. Your team is not out there just to keep their jocks warm! Put the phones down because face book will still be there after the game. Now unless you are mute, you can at least yell, grunt, burp, or pass gas the other way to support your team. Now where it the Oak Ridge team that caused me to cuss a BUNCH just a few years ago?

  2. I thought we would show improvement after a poor outing in week one. I honesty believed we would improve and have a chance to win at DB. Obviously we were worse in all areas, just a poor performance from top to bottom. Except for the fans who showed up, drove a long way and spent good time and money to be there and support the team. The hundreds of fans, band and cheerleaders that made that trip deserved better than what was delivered on the field Friday night. Obviously this is not the most talented team we've ever had or the fastest or deepest team we've had. Having said all that, the most disturbing thing to me was the bad body language of our players . It looked to me like they didn't want to be there. From the time they ran out for kickoff until the time they walked off the field there was no energy, no passion, no excitement, no leadership from our veteran players, no encouragement from the players on the sideline. They just looked mentally exhausted and disinterested. Maybe they were overwhelmed by the huge stage that is playing at DB? I don't know. But I do know this, we better get to work and get it together quick. If ever there was time for a Gut Check, this is it. Hopefully we can go to Campbell County and play well enough to get a win.

  3. Henry County will not lose another regular season game. They are Elite in 5A and will only get better as the season progresses and they get healthier. They are a class program and what High school football is all about. There fans, players, and coaches are 1st class!!!

  4. Sorry buddy the 0-2 is not the bottom line, it's more important that the games they lost came to 2 teams both favored to win state titles (4A and 5A).....

  6. I finally figured out the problem... Some of you may remember I predicted Oak Ridge to go 15 - 0. I sort of feel responsible for the bad start, like I jinxed the Wildcats. Well, if I caused the problem I better fix the problem. The problem is not lack of speed and size, positioning of players, scheduling or poor player motivation. The problem is not a new one but an old and goodie... VANILLA!!! Yes, Vanilla. We have been running our most basic of basic plays. The first two games were non Region and had zero playoff ramification. Campbell County is REAL. Time to open up the Offense: Reverses. Double passes. Statue of Liberty. Fumble-rooskie. Break out the Defensive Play Book: All out Blitzes, Cover 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, cover the WRs wearing numbers in the 80s as well, knives, brass knuckles, late hits, steal signs, spike their water bottles and GO NUCLEAR ( only if we HAVE to ). Since I live in Chattanooga, I need someone to pass this along to the team. Thank you. ;

  7. What situation is worse? The situation at OR or what’s going on @ The Hill in Knoxville? Strangely both teams look eerily similar to me in their overall what seems to me to be completely disinterested attitudes.

  8. oridgecat I saw this same attitude during the HV game. The HV players and standing students were going crazy all night and the Oak Ridge team and students were just standing around. And I know 100 of the students got in free so you would they could have said "RAH" now and then. Sort of reminds me of a certain "BigOrange" team that embarrassed us all yesterday!! They seem to have the same attitude! Where was the WILDCAT PRIDE?

  9. Just read a tweet from Hargis ( Chattanooga sports writer ) that said something like this.... The worse thing than an angry fan base is an apathetic fan base. So yell, scream, rant, spit, cuss and hurl just don't stop caring about the Wildcats. The players need our support!

  10. The Nolensville game went a lot like I thought it would... H2O showed some great improvement and competed well with a good Nolensville team in a Hostile environment that felt like a really late round playoff game. It looked like Nolensville brought the whole town out and they were loud and proud. Playing in a game like that can only help this team as the season goes on. They have a lot of things to work out and I’m not sure that it all comes together this coming Friday, but I think this team will be much like TC was last year in terms that they will be harder to handle as the season progresses. We are really young but really talented. These guys showed a lot of progression and competed very well against the Knights. Take away the turnovers and this game would of been a lot closer than the scoreboard showed. My hope is for a good game and another great atmosphere which I definitely think will happen. Will we win??? I don’t know, but if we play to our abilities this will be a heck of a game Friday!

  11. Yea I think we all can mostly agree that Brentwood will be a loss. I still have some hope that we can pull out that Germantown game. The other games we should win

  12. They shouldn't lose to any 5A teams left on their schedule, personally I am not sure about Germantown but I would pick Brentwood to beat HC, they are a legitimate 6A title contender.....

  13. What happened to Oak Ridge? Not bashing at all. I just remember when they were always in the conversation for the 3A title when there were just 3 classes.

  14. if it is blatant and you have video proof of it, I have no problem with calling out a team, coach, or player. It is hard to dispute video proof. In this case the poster had clear video proof.

  15. Henry County still has to play Brentwood and Germantown, the first of which looks like it might be a legitimate 6A title contender. Appreciate the kind words, but winning out is crazy talk right now. I’m just ready to get in the win column...

  16. Dyer Co. has looked very, very good this year, but I can't see them hanging this pissed off Henry Co. team that can't wait to get one in the win column. They make it interesting, but HC by double digits in the end!

  17. They wouldn’t be commenting had we played a couple cupcakes in the first two weeks like most of their teams did.

  18. Is it me or has the trolls came out in full force this year? What's funny is we have a dam good team in my opinion! And only going to get better! I wouldnt want to play HC come playoff time!

  19. Everything you showed were clearly missed calls. The play at the end was BUSH LEAGUE.

  20. Dude, there’s a huge difference between Haywood/Beech and Crockett/Obion. We’re not even having the same conversation here.

  24. Fact. It will be a very interesting season in 5A. West, South-Doyle and Powell are very good this year. Fulton and Central has serious competition this year.

  25. In the last 20 years TC has finished either 1st or 2nd in their region 14 times (1st 10 times and 2nd 4 times). Who is gonna step up? East Robertson is already 0-2 with losses by 25 and 28 points. They lost their best player/Quarterback for the season. Jackson County is 1-1 with a 2-point win over a Sale Creek team that as far as I know has never had a winning season and traditionally only wins 1-2 games a year. Cascade is 0-1 after losing to Moore County by a couple touchdowns. Westmoreland is 1-1 after losing 35-2 to LA and beating Macon County by 11. They beat Macon County by 4 touchdowns last year. This is the championship Roy. I will go out on another limb.... Oakland may end winning their region too ;)

  26. Knox West has a fantastic coaching staff & an elite defense. Glad to see them starting out 2-0. Hope they make it Far this season.

  27. That's why he will be an invaluable player for the Naval Academy. Triple Option/Slot Back system will enhance his skill set. Current QB is a senior and last year played the slot..and BTW is from Tennessee also.

  28. Also, there were two HORRIBLE calls that went against the Admirals on West’s first TD drive. No one has to take my word for it... watch the video. In the second quarter, On 2nd and 10 at the 8:49 mark, West is credited with a 14-yard reception. The kid ABSOLUTELY DID NOT CATCH the ball. In fact, he barely touched it! The ball can CLEARLY be seen rolling across the ground by the West players, coaches, cheerleaders, etc., on the sidelines! Later in the same drive, on 3rd and 13 at the 6;58 mark, West is credited with a reception that was DECIDEDLY OUT OF BOUNDS. I am not suggesting that these inexplicable calls decided the outcome of the game (there was still a lot of football to play and West may have converted anyway) and I know officials have a tough job; however, if a kid gets up off the field and he can’t produce a football (or even the existence of a football) within 1/4 mile of where he rests... he probably DIDN’T CATCH IT, REF! I can understand the out of bounds play a little easier, but I don't know how you award a reception without CONFIRMING the kid IS ACTUALLY IN POSSESSION OF THE BALL!

  29. Farragut was in this game right until the end. Having just taken the lead, Farragut was off the field - forcing a West punt on the ensuing possession - when the muffed punt just absolutely killed Farragut’s momentum; and, it gave the West offense a second opportunity. To West’s credit, they took advantage of the turnover. You just can't give good teams additional opportunities. Dropped passes by open receivers that had big-play potential didn’t help either. I was also disappointed that Farragut didn’t rotate more on the defensive front. I know #45 wasn’t dressed. However, why didn’t #44 play after the first series? Was he injured? I don’t recall a single DE substitution after the first or second series. Farragut did well with the quick-hit run game. It was counter and delay action that allowed the West defensive speed to close on the C gap stuff - including the inside zone cutback where I thought West also maintained good leverage.

  30. It’s still a long season. Tiger family we have to get behind our team! First win of the season against Hickman county! Last years team started out 1-3 and made it to the semifinals!

  31. Springfield should take this by 2 touchdowns. I dont see WHH beating them.

  33. I think DC will be improved from last year. They’ve played pretty well the first two weeks of the season. With that being said, they haven’t been tested the way HC has, nor the way HC will test them. I think it’ll be close in the first half, maybe 14 or 20 to 7. HC makes some adjustments at the half and it isn’t close. 33-14 HC wins their home opener.

  35. Yes I saw a picture of it on Facebook this morning. Brody is a playmaker! I think it’s hilarious that the Bearden student section made fun of him for being a competitive cheerleader. Cheerleading will pay for his college education if he chooses to go that route instead of football.

  36. Everyone in the region except Bolivar at this point stands a chance to win it! This is defiantly a game to watch in our death row region.

  37. I feel your pain Bluegrey, wait til you see our o-line. Lol. Tough to get anything done running or passing with poor line play. That West defense can make your o- line look bad. Congrats to West on the victory. The Rebels have a chance to make a run this year. They've got a solid team.

  38. Ok after doing my research Oak Ridge shouldn't be considered a "weak" team. They have more kids back than left. Didn't lose a bunch of seniors from a team that IMO should have won the State Championship. I think they will get it right. CCHS game is huge. Farragut and West will be tough. But have to win 1 of those games. Both at home so should have aura of Blankenship Field.

  39. Dude don’t say that. Jacobs better put a stop to that quick. Kids on the sidelines have more fun winning a state title than the kid that plays and looses to make parents happy.

  40. I know this will stir the hornets nest, but....PC pretty much is a 6A school as far as students to pull from because they pull from multiple schools. They utilize the enrollment from PC High to classify as 3A but are able to get students from another high school with similar enrollment without a football program. JS

  43. Dearest Mother- By the time you receive this letter I will have almost swam the length of the River from New Hope to Decatur Creek. While the Captain is taking his Band of Pirates north of the Fiery Gizzard to do battle with the Yellow Jacket men of Coalmont, I have been given a special assignment to gather vital information on two upcoming opponents of ours. Those being the Flying Tigers of Decatur and the Cherokees that seem to be from every tribe known to man. It is an honorable mission, of which I wouldn't have had the strength or courage had it not been for your provisions of possum cakes with squirrel butter and the life lessons Poppa has instilled in me, your youngest son who is of sound mind and strong body. Even though I'm on my journey into hostile territory rest assured Sweet Mother of mine that I shall take care and shall survive to write another day. Relay the word to Poppa that Captain Victory was once again victorious over the Squatch people of Dunlap. Also pray for Coach Victory and his Band of Pirates as they head beyond the Fiery Gizzard into the mountainous regions containing Yellow Jacket men who seem to be leaderless and without much of a stinger at the present. Love to all- Sargent Southtowner
