  9. You were very kind during that time and I recall him telling me of your conversations. It was much appreciated! I too believe it would've been a 4-qtr game but MC was loaded with size and talent. Without doubt the toughest team we had faced in years. He's had a great college career and done well on the hardwood. Thanks for asking and I'll pass along your well wishes!

  10. S33 I garuntee it is real hard to reason with the jailhouse fellars. They sure had made themselves famous the last few years. They avoided two ear holings this year but want to talk about everybody else. You think im joking but im not.

  12. Well we gotta play Clinton, Lenoir City, Powell, Karns and Campbell County the rest of them are just who we got so we could have a full schedule.

  13. About the schedule. In the regular season, OR will play six teams that were on the schedule last year (Farragut, Dobyns-Bennett, Powell, Clinton, Karns, and Campbell County). Replace 12-2 West with 10-4 South Doyle (which OR did defeat). Replace 7-4 Mt. Juliet (6A at the time) with 9-4 Greeneville (4A). Replace 2-8 Hardin Valley with 2-9 Lenoir City. Replace 4-7 Fulton, which lost on the field to Maryville, South Doyle, Central, Powell and Rhea County with 4-7 Bearden. Tough schedule to be sure, but I don't believe it to be any "stupider" than last year and we all know how that worked out.

  14. I feel good about Westview and South Side's ability to get to the championship game, given the matchups. I could see Scotts Hill pulling an "upset" (wouldn't be much of one IMO). I really am not impressed with Chester Co., so wouldn't be shocked if they lost, but I just don't trust Crockett's ability to score. My predictions on margins could be wrong, but feel pretty good about the winners I picked.

  15. I’ve just never seen any teams from Whitwell that were good enough to beat any of the teams from this district. I know Clay beat them twice this year. I do think it will be closer than 30 points but I still have Pickett winning.

  16. I think Gibson County beats Bradford but I don’t see it being a 30 point blowout. I can see Gibson County pulling away in the second half. Bradford’s last two games were 1 point losses to Union City and Gleason. The 6’2 or 6’3 post for Bradford stays out of foul trouble they will hold their own a while. AA games to keep an eye on are South Gibson and Scott’s Hill, Chester County and Crockett County and Dyersburg and South Side.

  17. Combination of the two, plus I've been around a lot of these teams and kids for a while. Try to stay in my lane and only talk about the stuff I know about. I have some leanings, but still try to be impartial and realistic about the teams I do pull for.

  18. How do you know you will be fine you guys have not even had to sweat a game all year LOL. All joking aside Southside is one of the favorites And so is Upperman but I’ve been down to the glass house so many times and seen the best team on paper get smacked in the mouth and put out of the tournament first game so you never know what’s gonna happen come tournament time.

  19. A recent quote from bonkers when someone hinted that Wyatt didn't run the offense - "You must be a genius. The guy just led OR to the third title game they have played in over the last 30 years and you want to be a smart ####. He's the problem according to you. There are better coaches out there but he's the guy that just led OR to the title game after a 2-3 start and somehow avoided the covid bug that hit so many teams. You typify what's wrong with coacht but the freedom of speech we have gives you the right." Pot meet kettle

  20. Dyersburg will have a couple long years after this year but has a good group of talent coming up that are very coachable. I say coachable because the team this year has some talent but there’s some attitude issues with some of the key players that is keeping them from reaching their full potential.

  25. Now that the Region 7-AA tournament field is set: #4 McNairy Central at #1 Westview #3 Crockett Co. at #2 Chester Co. #3 Scotts Hill at #2 South Gibson #4 Dyersburg at #1 South Side Here are my predictions for the tournament. First Round Westview easily handle McNairy (double digit win). Crockett gives Chester Co. some problems early, but Chester Co. pulls away in 2nd half. Probably the tightest game of the first round- SGC and Scotts Hill go down to the wire, South Gibson pulls it out in a one possession game. (Scotts Hill has a chance to win or force overtime on final possession of game) Dyersburg maybe keeps things close in the first quarter, but doesn't have the depth to hang with South Side. (20+ point win- possibly running clock, especially if Howard fouls out) Semifinals Chester Co. spars with Westview better than most people would expect, but Chargers still come away with the win as free throws down the stretch seal it. South Side can pick the score against South Gibson. (Running clock late in the 4th) Finals It's the Final (most) everyone wanted to see. Westview will want to play slow, South Side will want to play fast. Whoever can dictate the pace will win. I think Westview slows things down early, but South Side busts things open in the 2nd half and wins by double digits.

  27. No surprises with what happened last night in the championship game. Both teams played terrible in 1st quarter. Westview finally got out of their funk about six minutes in. South Gibson never did. Westview came out in a 2-3, which is what worked in the 2nd half of the regular season meeting. SGC shouldn't have been surprised that is what they came out in, but they never did anything to counter it. Not going to win championships in high school if you can only score 20 points...

  28. And last but not least, the real big boys, the Heavyweights. In a weight that’s been dominated for a decade by some of the very best...from Hunter Allen, to Patrick Benson, then Bruno Reagan, Nick Boykin, Michael Kramer, and finally, Skylar Coffey. The heavyweight winner has pinned his way through the tournament every year for the past 10 years, with the exception of Patrick Benson in 2011/2012. Nick Boykin also dec Kramer on 2 separate occasions. Every other match the eventual state champ has wrestled at the state tournament has been a pin. The 6 named above absolutely dominated their way to state titles, and the end results were never in doubt. This year is different. There isn’t one guy who has dominated all comers. There isn’t one guy who has decimated the competition. There’s not one single odds on favorite. For the first time in 10 years there will be actual competition from start to finish at heavyweight. Can Langford finally break through after 2 straight runners up? Can Cummins bump up and run the table? Can Ryan Smith get Summit a wrestling state title to go with his football state championship? I’m excited! Lets get it! Favorites: Jadon Langford (Walker Valley), Josh Cummins (Anderson Co), Ryan Smith (Summit) Dark Horses: Christian Iroh (Collierville), Sam Harness (Cookeville), Keimel Redford (Science Hill), Jay Adams (Maryville) Matches/Potential Matches To Watch: #3 Keating vs #6 McClure, Redford vs Adams, Adams vs Harness, #5 Watson vs #4 Richardson, #5 Watson vs #6 McClure, #5 Watson vs #3 Keating, #2 Smith vs Cummins, #1 Langford vs #5 Watson/#4 Richardson, #1 Langford vs #2 Smith, #1 Langford vs Cummins Podium Predictions: 1. Jadon Langford (Walker Valley) 2. Josh Cummins (Anderson Co) 3. Ryan Smith (Sunmit) 4. Graham Keating (Oakland) 5. Jesse Richardson (Wilson) 6. Sony Watson (Morristown West) One Match Away: Jay Adams (Maryville), Christian Iroh (Collierville)

  29. Time for the big boys! First up, 220 lbs. There’s been one guy at the top of the 220 lb mountain for over a calendar year, a guy who, similar to his Blue Raider teammate Trae McDaniel, hasn’t lost a match to anyone from the state of Tennessee in over 2 years. He’s been pushed, he’s been in some dog fights, some very tight contests...he’s had some tests, but he’s passed them all. And in just over 24 hours he will begin his quest to win back to back titles. His name is Ashton Davis. Are there guys in this bracket who can push him, sure. Are there guys who will test him, absolutely. But this is one of those “until proven otherwise” cases. Ashton is the top dog. Ashton is the odds on favorite, and it’s not relatively close...until proven otherwise. As far as the competition goes, they’re no pushovers. Ryver Shelton is a 2x medalist, Noah Todd is a stud sophomore who has wrestled Ashton as close as you can, twice. Mitchell Lambert and Eli Nelms are two seniors who are no slouch..and looking to go out with a bang. So while Davis is the clear favorite here, the pack behind him is bunched up and they’re all ready to strike. Favorites: Ashton Davis (Cleveland) Dark Horses: Jacob King (Cocke Co), Adrian Gumm (Maryville), Logan McBee (Shelbyville), Alex Cooley (McMinn Co), Issac Jordan (Arlington) Matches/Potential Matches To Watch: -#1 Davis vs #6 Nelms, McBee vs Cooley, Jordan vs Mizoury, #1 Davis vs #4 Lambert, #5 Todd vs #3 Shelton, Cooley vs King, #4 Lambert vs #5 Todd, #4 Lambert vs #6 Nelms, #6 Nelms vs #5 Todd, #1 Davis vs #3 Shelton, #1 Davis vs #5 Todd Podium Predictions: 1. Ashton Davis (Cleveland) 2. Ryver Shelton (JeffCo) 3. Mitchell Lambert (Page) 4. Eli Nelms (Lebanon) 5. Noah Todd (Wilson) 6. Adrian Gumm (Maryville) One Match Away: Logan McBee (Shelbyville), Alex Cooley (McMinn)

  34. I leave for a few hours and this place goes nuts. How about talking about the basketball games instead of the AC and size of your school. You want to talk about schedules? Take a look for yourselves on your teams coacht page. Cookeville schedule is ranked 11th the last time I looked and I think and Stone was like 2-3. See all those numbers next to the teams on your schedule. Those are good teams. See the ones with no numbers.....those are cupcakes. It’s that simple. Cookeville played like 18-19 ranked opponents. That number doesn’t include the #9 team in the nation since they are not ranked on coacht. I am fine with you talking about schedules because I think we play one of the toughest in the state.

  35. I am so frustrated. I have to constantly refresh. There is no flow to the matches. I have watched more of the buffer signal than actual wrestling. Worst part of it is that I’ve been doing this for 3 years. It hasn’t changed and I continue to pay for this garbage. Either they have to do better or I have to be wiser.

  36. I am a CPA guy but I give Dilfer credit for what he is doing at Lipscomb. It is great for D2 Middle TN football and competition. I think their schedule shows they are going to play the best they can if possible. CPA's schedule next year is brutal, BA, MBA, Oakland, Indy, Lipscomb and others. Go Lions but glad to see Lipscomb back in it.

  37. 195- 11 weight classes down, 3 to go! Next up is 195. There are 4 returning medalists here, all of whom medaled at this same weight last year (2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th). While i don’t think they finish in the same order as last year, all 4 should medal again, with 1 likely getting their first title. Brumlow was a finalist last year, can he take that next step? Lowe has 2 losses to Brumlow and would likely have to go through him to win a title. Could the third time be the charm? Stadel medaled last year as a freshman, and will look to add another, possibly on his way to joining Chad Solomon as only the 2nd 4x medalist in Maryville history, could he follow Solomon’s blue print and win his first title as a sophomore? Or how about Dominic Love, could the Mt. Juliet transfer give Green Hill their first champion in their first year? Lets not forget Donavan Rich. The Beech senior is looking for his first medal to close out his high school career, could he spring a couple of upsets and push his way into the title conversation? All of these questions, and much more, will be answered in just over 72 hours. I can barely contain my excitement! Favorites: Jason Brumlow (East Hamilton), Kallum Lowe (Walker Valley), Thomas Stadel (Maryville) Dark Horses: Omar Fabian (Sevier Co), Chase Rozell (Arlington), Maddox Reed (Summit), Connor Milhorn (Siegel) Matches/Potential Matches To Watch: #6 Gillentine vs Fabian, #5 Love vs #2 Lowe, #2 Lowe/#5 Love vs #3 Stadel, #1 Brumlow vs #4 Rich, Reed vs Medina, Milhorn vs Fabian, Milhorn vs Reed, #5 Love vs #6 Gillentine, #5 Love vs #3 Stadel, #4 Rich vs #3 Stadel, #4 Rich vs #5 Love, #1 Brumlow vs #2 Lowe, #1 Brumlow vs #3 Stadel Podium Predictions: 1. Jason Brumlow (East Hamilton) 2. Thomas Stadel (Maryville) 3. Dominic Love (Green Hill) 4. Donavan Rich (Beech) 5. Kallum Lowe (Walker Valley) 6.
