I don't see them geting past the Region and maybe not even getting out of the Big 9 tourney.

I'll bet on them making it out of the district tournament, making it out of the regional tournament is another story. I think it comes down, partially, to where they are seeded in both the district and regional tournaments. As long as they are atleast a #2 seed in both, I see them avoiding Science Hill until both championship games, especially in the district tournament. In the regional, as a #2 seed, they would most likely play Greeneville and Morristown East, two games I think they can win in succession. As Cap has said before, it comes down to match ups. I think the Indians match up well with all schools in Region 1 except Science Hill, because the 'Toppers create chaos on the floor, taking the Tribe out of its game. It'll be interesting to see, IF they get out of the first round of the district tournament, how home court advantage plays a role in their performance, with both tournaments being played at Buck Van Huss in Kingsport.

I was basing what I posted on how the Indians have played all season. I don't think they can string enough games together to make it very far. Home court doesn't seem to help them at all, so I don't see that as being a factor in their favor. Hate to say it, but its true. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

No we usually wait and pull the high octane out on Central. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> But if you really want to see the fruits of the efforts of the N.E.T Hoopsters AAU program all you have to do is pick up the paper on any given Wednesday or Saturday morning after the games and see what names made the HEADLINES (Jordan Edwards, Ashlon Adams, Justin Sylvester. Josh Odem, Corey Young, Chris Smith, Tre Webb, Adam Denison etc??¦). And I could go on if you like. But don??™t take my word for it??¦just ask your own Mickey Brown. He is a former Hoopster also??¦bet you didn??™t know that. But you had to recognize he had that extra umph that none of the other Cougars seemed to have no matter how talented they are. It??™s called EXPERIENCE outside these hills here in Northeast Tennessee. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I will however agree with one statement in your post??¦WE ARE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

For now. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

It does my heart to see some good players in this area. You realize how AAU can benefit our athletes. I miss those days and have been advocating for someone to carry the torch in this area. Will you be doing it again this year? In the coming years? I know Sylvester's son is a Sr. and what about his father continuing? I coached for 13 years and it was a blessing to see the fruits of labor with these kids, now men in our area. From those mentioned before plus Walter Brown, Rob Love (like a son to me), Jerome Odem (Josh's brother), Adam Hughes, BJ Miller, Rocky Nichols, Caleb Gilmore, Nathan Norman, Jonathan Wilson, Clay Potter, Raymond Lee, and the NFL's Jason Witten, Gerald Sensabaugh, & Vince Redd to name some more. I wish those with an itch would get in where they fit in and help our youth. It really does do the heart good and make the East TN boys more competitive when they play against the West teams. The Science Hill Alumni of those championship teams will tell you that AAU helped them get over that hump once they played against them and found out they could stand on even ground and beat them. There are plenty of athletes just itching to play AAU. I still get calls asking if anyone will get a team going around here. If you have the time and patience (and know a little about basketball), and above all else...have the kids' best interest at heart, then please give back to these kids. It will help out tremendously and warm your heart in the process. GOD Bless.....

FYI..... I got a call recently from Vince Redd and he is playing for the New England Patriots. He got onto the practice squad, then made the special teams unit and got his first action against the Cardinals (actually made the first tackle of the kickoff for the Patriots!!) and played some defense when they were blowing out the Cardinals. What a feeling to see someone you coached since the 8th grade be successful!!!!!

If anyone saw the 1st DB vs TN High game earlier this season, they saw a total mismatch. The Indians were dominant from start to finish and the Vikings could not match up at any posistion against them. I expect more of the same Friday night in Bristol. Sure Home Court and maybe close to as many fans by Bristol (but I doubt it) will spur the Vikings hopes, but that won't last. Jordan Edwards and AA Ashlon Adams will have their way in the paint again and now that Justin Sylverster appears to be near 100%, that will be more than enough to offset the home court advantage.

DB wins this game and then looks to the Toppers for revenge

All this talk about Coach Witt at Volunteer and his coaching methods is deserved. What a piece of work he is. Does anyone remember the Dobyns Bennett game last year involving Marshall Harding?? The big white haired kid from Volunteer was escorted to the locker room after the hard foul on Harding. The coach is the problem not the kids.

Yes how can anyone forget, it is brought up anytime Volunteer has a game and there is a foul called on us. It was a year ago please get on with your life this is an old subject. When our kids are hurt and taken away to be stapled up we can get over it and not spend as much time on the subject as you and many other people do. Life is too short. Get on with your life.

Who did the AAU team last year? Is anyone going to do it again this year? I would like to find out any info on this as I know several players that would love to play. Thanks......

/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> So if I use your same theory and thought pattern then??¦.if anyone saw the second game between DB and The Hill they saw a total mismatch. The Hill was dominant form the start, and finish the first half with a 21 point lead because DB just could not match up at any position. I expect more of the same when they play again at Freedom Hall. Chris Smith and JO Josh Odem will have their way and BOTH score 20 plus points AGAIN, and Larry Smith will show the Indians the real meaning of home court advantage. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I??™m sorry but I think your way of thinking holds about as much water as an uncured clay pot. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> But we will see. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

But the difference is DB lost by 2 and TH lost by 16.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
