Enrollment Numbers are Out....

No kidding. At least 6 teams per region is needed.

Subregion A and Subregion B would take care of that,4 teams in each subregion means only 1 nonregion game if you play a 9 game schedule like a lot of subregions in Georgia or 2 in a 10 game schedule.

It is too late now but I would have liked to have seen a 48-team 6A group, if they were set on using that type of system. With these new numbers, #48 would have been Rossview with 1497 students, certainly a 1500-type school and above should be able to compete with the rest up to White Station at 2289, on the average. Bradley Central, I'm sure, would have been happier to have McMinn County, Rhea County and Walker Valley in with them. Instead of everybody getting in the playoffs, it would have had 8 regions with 6 teams each, 4 get in the playoffs. 5 non-region games wouldn't have been as hard to find as in the past few years since non-region game no longer count toward the playoffs.

After that, bottom cutoffs would have been at Kingsbury, 1114 for 5A; Chattanooga Christian, 790 for 4A; Bledsoe, 568 for 3A; Union City, 397 for 2A with Gleason the smallest in 1A.

Even better would have been a complete split. You could still take out the top 32 (if not 48) and divide equally below that, and no group would have teams that much larger. Or all classes could be equal. If they wanted 6 classes even after a total split, divide into those and 6A's smallest team would be Ooltewah at 1452-again, a high enough enrollment to compete with the rest of the class.

I know we are closed they will put you out on your ear if the bus dont run by your house! It hurts us in sports there are kids that HAVE to play at WB that would love to put on the Orange and Black.

So true, when they stopped taking out-of-county kids it has hurt our roster size some.  The kids that would come from Blount Co. knew (especially when Satterfield was coaching) that they had a greater chance of possibly playing on Friday's as freshman versus not dressing at Willy Bee.

How is this different than a private school.

500$ and you're in. Not zoned here? No problem.

Open enrollment schools should get the multiplier just like we do. Put Alcoa in 4a where they belong.

And I swear by all that's holy if we ever get lucky enough to host Alcoa At Boyd I will paint the visitors locker room pink.

Oh and while we're in rant mode..... Let's make that split happen this year.

I've heard it will be good for football but bad for sports like basketball. (My kid doesn't play basketball)

Ummm, don't think so. We finished 6-5 with losses to Maryville, William Blount, Wartburg Central and Oliver Springs, and then Hampton in the first round.

That is a good point. 1996 was arguably the best Hampton football team in the history of Hampton football and Alcoa had a below average Alcoa team. Yet Hampton only won the game with a safety to win by 1 point. One of the craziest endings ever.  My point is Hampton cannot compete with Alcoa. It is apples to oranges.  One of the best teams in the history of our program barely defeated one of the worst Alcoa teams.

One of the worst Alcoa teams is kind of a stretch. We had several 6-4 and a couple 4-6 seasons in the 1980's before 1988. We went winless in 1974 and 3-7 in 2002.

Below average is pretty accurate, and we definitely had an average-at-best coach in 1996.

India why didn't you use some of the pull you have?  B)

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
