Pounded is a ridiculous statement to make. There is nothing about Milan that says they will pound Trezevant. That may be a stretch. Win=Maybe  Pounded=Definately Not

Willie I want you to know that I was mainly just joking around. I did not mean Milan would pound you guys. I know what you guys bring to the table. But let's be real about 1 thing. Any team 3A that lines up with Alcoa is going to get pounded. Book it.

I'll be honest I care more about the football aspect. If administrators and kids want to cheat themselves out of an education then so be it. But realize all of these academic expectations tie back into athletics.  Can't have your cake and eat it too

If you're not eligible in the classroom you're not eligible for the field of play.  Student-athlete.

I don't want to tie all this to Trezevant. Although this particular story stems from there.  It's not a Trezevant only problem or Shelby County problem.  This is a nation wide problem.  Kids are being passed on to the next level without concern or care about their education or even if they will become productive citizens.   Education is the key.  If you can use athletics to help get yourself to the next level of education that's great.  But let's not fool ourselves here.  Some colleges and coaches only care if you can win them some games. It's like this at every level of play. We are only cheating ourselves.

Great comment, I couldn't agree more!

Now thats what I've been saying all the time. There is a problem at Trezevant when grades are changed but its bigger than Trezevant. Its a systemic problem.

Looking foward to playing Milan, I know everything is just trash talk no hard feelings here. Looks like Alcoa has their own obstacles to overcome before they can pound anyone.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
