After the second round of anonymous complaint(s), the school again submitted whatever documentation to the Assistant Director Menees.  At the time of the meeting, he put whatever paperwork they gave him into a folder.  He did not read or review it at that time is what I have been told.  Apparently that Childress man is on leave of some sort and they (AD Menees) refuse(d) to contact him about the situation.  My contention is that from what I have been able to read in the TSSAA by-laws, there are/is no provision for someone other than the Director to initiate and rule in this situation.  Nor to implement this type of judgement.

The appeals meeting scheduled for Tuesday @ 1 pm will be attended by eight of the eleven board members.  I am under the impression that a 4-4 split in voting will not overturn the decision.

There are a lot of rumors locally about who is/are the complainants.  One of them is a former school admin that previously worked closely with AD Menees and the TSSAA.  I hate to use the term "whistleblower" because that implies that there was some wrongdoing going on.  That is not the case.  I am leaning towards "disgruntled former employee" and "vendetta".

Is the appeals meeting open to the public?

I've seen yall play.  You would be undefeated had he not even suited up.  I know that doesn't mean anything at this point in time.

ST, while I have seen posts on FB and other social media that it is, I cannot imagine they would let the public in for such a potentially emotional situation.  There will be a caravan of supporters going in the morning to peacefully and politely show their support of the school and the student-athlete in hopes of overturning AD Menees' decision.  Have you ever heard of a school's appeal process being public?  I imagine there'll be media coverage as well.

I understand about personal privacy and such. I also believe without some sort of transparency things of this nature get resolved without much light shed on them.  Resulting in the same mistakes being made time and time again and then that leads to more and more distrust towards the Association.

Varo is a good dude. Sorry for him and the kids. No sympathy for adults who did this. They should be flogged in the town sqaure.  if a lash accidentally hits a TSSAA official in the process, so be it.

Old Pirate says the TSSAA is long overdue fer an uprising against their leadership. Terrible officiating vast majority where officials don’t know the rules, yet regularly play a vital part in game wins & loses.  BTW, NOT one Whitwell fan has disputed the claim of an eligible player last year that contributed heavily to winning Gold. Any wonder why, not because it was untrue! Old Pirate has been criticized fer whining? Fellers, call it what you will, cheating skirting the rules is wrong. BUT the neglect by the TSSAA to enforce the rules & do their duty to hold those accountable when presented undeniable evidence is more than wrong, it is a disgrace beyond words.

Anyhow, work comes early. Good luck on this. I believe Fayetteville tried to do the right thing. I do believe they let him play earlier than the Letter actually oked him as being legal. The whole bus thing is just a terrible technicality. Obviously a rule, but I sincerely doubt they tried to slip one bye on anyone.

It's mentioned in the rules, but I cannot believe this decision is in agreement with the spirit of the rule.  If applied this way, there could likely be dozens or of schools in TN with ineligible kids, all over the state.

For example, there are no Lincoln County buses that pick up inside the city of Fayetteville to my knowledge, but kids from Fayetteville do now and always have attended LCHS - should every LCHS win in history be forfeited?  Many kids who are technically 'zoned' to attend Franklin County HS attend Huntland instead, you just have to provide your own transportation (Though bus routes are separate, you've generally been welcome to attend whichever high school you like in FC, provided you can get there).  Good chance every team at Huntland has an ineligible kid now and probably always has had, if bus routes alone govern.  There would be a few at FCHS where the opposite is true - Huntland bus runs by their house instead.  There's a family with a son in Huntland in athletics and a daughter at FCHS in athletics.

I can't believe that Lincoln County and Franklin County are the only two who would have dozens or hundreds of historical teams who would have to forfeit all games if the bus route rule governs.  I'll bet there are dozens and dozens of schools that would be affected.  How about Marion Co and SPitt - what are the boundaries and bus routes over there?  I have no idea.

I think this has a world more tentacles than anyone at TSSAA realizes at the moment.  There might be a big number of playoff teams with ineligible players if this is applied across the board.  Tullahoma has no buses, but allows kids from inside Franklin County and outside of Tullahoma to attend.  Do they have to abandon athletics?

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
