Lol a coach pushed a kid from York to get him away from the scuffle when it was goin on. A scuffle that began because a York player gator rolled Isaiah Groves’s leg after the play was over. No kid was punched by a coach. Y’all gotta be some of the sorest losers I’ve ever seen. Y’all have gotten away with playing dirty all year and bullying the weaker teams in your region, and thought the same would happen last night. This time you ran into a team that was better than you and wasn’t about to let you get away with your tantrums. Go cheer on the basketball team. Have a coke and a smile

UHS went to the 2a semis in 1996....so days struggling to get 1a wins are 25+ years ago . At one time, Spring Hill was a small rual school. Now look at that area. Progress happens. It's not like UHS went from 350 students to 890 in 2 years. It was over a thirty year span. They won 2 baseball championships in the 90s, played in several 80s. But until the mid 90s, seemed only basketball and baseball was a priority. Some lean years jumping g from 1a to 2a, and from 2a to 3a. Since 2013, football has been a focal point of the community snd school.

No you’re not suppose to know who I am but I would expect someone who does sports commentary for a living to actually read through the entire thread before quoting something but not surprised since you didn’t do your homework on the Greeneville vs Alcoa score when you said “Alcoa was beating Greeneville at half and that’s why the didn’t want to continue”. Hard to shake someone’s hand when I wasn’t there and watched it online since I don’t live in Greeneville anymore. I would have if I was there but not when you come on here and just acted the way you did. Misspoke and not doing research are two different things, either you knew good and well the score when it was called for weather or you were to lazy to actually gather the stats. On the bright side I'm sure this game sends @hogheaven, his wife, and his wife's boyfriend into the shadows for another couple of years.

So so sorry for uppermans loss, this is a tragedy but also a win for this man. Nothing like being in the presence of our lord!! My thoughts & prayers for this man’s family in the days ahead & this program!

For a man that that HATES York you sure like to talk about them a lot. You posted on another thread how York is your most hated team. You think you’re classy when you say you hate a group of 15-18 yr old young men and a group of coaches that spend countless hours away from their family to teach a game they all love. Are there teams that pull for that aren’t York when York isn’t playing them yes sir their is there teams I root against yes sir their is. But for you to call out a fan base, coaches, and players and call them classless then say I hate that team is ridiculous. I have respected your post on this forum for a few years now until a couple weeks ago. I’m sure you will lose no sleep over it but you sir should look in the mirror before calling anyone classless.

They were disciplined until York wanted to turn it into a UFC fight.

Death runs in all of our families. None of us are getting out of here alive. There’s only one way to heaven and it’s through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Last Friday night we talked before and after the game. This Friday he’s gone. Definitely puts life in perspective and what’s truly important.

I would say your assumption is correct. LOL

If someone repeats the bad decision, it’s not a mistake. A couple of York players were trying to take #1 out all night. Watch the film, they were diving at his knees head first when he was held up!! I do agree they are kids and obviously don’t know, because their Coach or Parent did not teach them how to properly tackle or play the game. One would think that York could handle losing after researching the programs history.

I still think you are bunch of homers (Annoying to anyone thats not a fan of your team compared to the Greeneville Radio Guys) and needed to get facts straight before you said wrong information online (It's called responsible journalism but guess you don't want to admit that). Still don't think the Fayetteville vs Tennessee high was a good comparison as a sports commentator and should have taken a different angle. Good Luck in Chatt like a said earlier to Upperman. Funny you didn't say anything to me yesterday but wouldn't have expected anything different from watching your show the other day.

Alvin had more class when he captured all them krauts than the whole York team last night.

Not sure what gives in this game, both teams have played great defense in the playoffs. West has found an offense in the playoffs, but Page has been stingy giving up any points. Not sure what the under/over is, but I am definitely taking the under. Have to admit - I thought we would be decent this year - but I probably would not have bet a return to Championship game. Great work by the players and coaches for getting better each week.

Difference between groves and Thomas is when you ask groves to get 2 he gets you 80.

If you don't understand...you just don't get it, and probably won't. Groves may be a better prospect. He may grade out as a power five recruit with 5 stars. Nick Saban and Kirby Smart may park a travel trailer in his yard and bring the family breakfast every morning. What Thomas does is get yards and win games. You need two yards, give him the ball and you get two and a half. You need to run clock and preserve a lead, you give him the ball 10 plays in a row and he'll take six minutes off the clock and score for you. Yank his facemask, take a swing, or go at his knees, and he'll get up and walk back to the huddle. With Riverside's style of play, he's as good as you could build in a lab to fit the position.

No I didn’t post a word about that except when others started talking about it I said I wasn’t upset about it because I expected that sort of thing from York. Good, bad or otherwise that sort of thing and what I saw tonight is just what I expect to see. I have expected it for years, that’s just what York is, again good, bad or somewhere in between. It’s no secret I’m not a York fan. It’s no secret they’re not fans of ours. I don’t hate York, just not my favorite program. Neither game this year had any bearing on that. Like I posted earlier, sure I pull against York but not because they were good this year, I’ve pulled against them all those years they sucked also. Not everyone likes every program and that’s OK. Show me a post where I’ve “had it out against York”?

Pete Billingsley was a great, great man. After a great HS career at Farragut, he was a great athlete at Carson-Newman. Following his playing career, he had a successful coaching career at Farragut, Maryville, CAK, Lenoir City, Rhea County, as well as a stint in GA. He was a great follower of Christ and led many FCA small groups at all the schools he coached. He passed away in 2020 and was greatly loved by many people he interacted with in the schools he worked. His family is still in Knox and Blount counties and would greatly appreciate this lost item.

My 2 cents is that it simply does not matter who you put on the field. You put any player, coach, or team on the field, and Riverside will always have a chance with #25 at RB, #8 at QB, and the biggest piece of them, all Coach Frost at the helm.

If you think that the Riverside you saw in the regular season is the same team you are obviously not familiar with Riverside this year or in past years and Huntington would beat any 2A team in East TN they were just unlucky enough to play Riverside

I watched it live but honestly didn’t go back to rewatch. By the time that crap storm was over I’d had all I wanted of it.

My wife and I had a great conversation with Rankin and his wife in Townsend the summer before his last season at Alcoa where he was very candid about CPA and Martin. Rankin actually had CPA’s entire staff visit with him one summer and go over his processes and procedures. Rankin is the goat for sure but Ingle is considered by Rankin to be the best. We enjoyed our time with them and I asked many questions about programs, D2, etc and he answered all of them. He was great and I’m happy for him and his wife.

One dimensional football and a weak nonregion schedule hurt Dyersburg. I was pulling for Dyersburg but some changes need to made if they ever want to make it to the championship and have a chance.

The way York players acted tonight was a disgrace to the good name of Alvin C York.

I understand that as well but just as a point of discussion what more could have been done? They flagged any sort of foolishness early, when it got ratcheted up a notch they cleared the field and warned both sides, they continued to flag the chippy stuff then when the fight inevitably broke out they ejected players. I understand what you’re saying but from my perspective the officials gave both coaching staffs ample opportunities to get their teams under control. Neither side did that. In fact until the ejections I’d say both coaches continued to have less control of their teams as the game went on. The only other thing I could see the officials doing would’ve been to eject players earlier but that would’ve likely been in the first half dust up and then likely would’ve only been a player from York, maybe 2. I agree with you about the season but whether anyone thinks it’s warranted or not York has that reputation as that sort of program. Some will say it’s earned, others will say it’s total BS. Either way it’s out there. Apparently ER does also, I’m sure the officials were aware of that also. Like I said earlier it was a perfect self feeding storm and unfortunately a bad look for all involved tonight. Entertaining as heck but unfortunately everyone is talking about that junk and not the nearly miraculous comeback.

Agreed, we’ve played your Hampton Bulldogs in the state tournament before and they were classy, I felt like we were too. Different sports won’t get into it… I get ER seems undisciplined, they are. But when you have a family that is as highly touted as the groves family and you watch people cheap shot your biological brother I’m sure you want to retaliate and it’s hard not too. I don’t want to make excuses for them but that’s my reasoning for the way they act. I feel like #1 is cool as a cucumber though, just smiles doesn’t say much.

I thought the same thing. East kept their cool for most of the first half, but there’s only so much you take. I know East has had issues with unsportsmanlike penalties before the playoffs but thought the did ok up until the second half tonight….
