  1. I have talked to Mr. Rankin personally while over at his house yesterday, he told me he’s debating taking the Red Boiling Springs job, or Alabama Head Coach job after this year. Believe what you want, but this is the truth!

  2. Regardless of the why, when 2 teams are scheduled and 1 wants to play and the other refuses to play, the team that refuses should be awarded a loss via forfeit. This is coming from someone without a dog in the race.

  3. Seeing Shad pacing the sidelines is the equivalent of seeing the Grim Reaper pacing the hallways in the maternity ward. Doom and despair permeate the otherwise peaceful setting.

  4. Without proof? This didn't happen.... We'll all let this go when it's shown as a forfeit L for Clarkrange

  5. No doubt it ought to be a forfeit. Both teams saw the field when they decided to play. Don’t think it sets a good example to kids if the reason they aren’t playing is something that happened way back. I like Clarkrange and have a top notch program, but they seen the field.

  7. They were at 75+ this year. Rebs fielded 25 (could have had more) Southerners and Lil Rebs both fielded 35. Not sure of total numbers of the Cubs org, but my guess is between Jr High and youth leagues there were over 230 kids playing tackle football this year in the city. Things are ok.

  9. Lol... When I started this thread December 7th. I had a strong feeling this was happening and even said it would happen over Christmas break to a friend in a private conversation. Y'all can spin it anyway you want but I saw it coming a mile away. That Diffee boy has some growing up to do. To many on and off field bad choices. I hope he learns and grows from this. I'm sure he will.

  10. York and Clarkrange girls have never scrimmaged before from what i can remember. If there was fights, clothes being ripped off and injuries, word would have gotten around and everyone in Fentress County would have heard about it when it happened because everything get passed around pretty quick here... York and Clarkrange boys NEVER had any issues in their scrimmages. Heck these boys and girls play each other 3-4 times a year every year in grade school... Why do their feelings toward each other apparently change once in high school? Your post make absolutely no sense and is entirely not true. Idk if you ever go to any of the York games, but when Clarkrange doesn't have a game that night some of the players from both of the girls and boys teams go sit with the York pep club every game and the coaches even show up to the games... If there was ANY bad blood at all those kids would not sit where they do nor would you think their coaches would allow them to even be there.

  11. So everyone on here now knows that BPM is really Dustin and apparently from past reports Dustin is an expert as either a drum beater or a horn blower as far as bands are concerned. All Kidding Aside: There are plenty of great options who will be interested in the job at Milan. Several of those options are right down the road. Diffee and Pettigrew both found out that the run that Jeff Morris & Co. had in Bulldog Country was not a given.

  16. When was this. It is ridiculous to say this when the elementary teams play 3 and 4 times a year. This is ludicrous that they do not play.

  17. First off, there are untrue statements in this post. I know because I played for Clarkrange and definitely scrimmaged York girls in an official scrimmage. There’s so much bad blood here. Don’t touch it. Those scrimmages always ended with fights, clothing ripped off, and sometimes, injuries. Let it go.

  21. You really believe that Clarkrange would have played that tournament without having that conversation? Seriously?? They haven’t played York in like 40 years but they are going to play this year? Riiiight. That’s all I have to say about that. ….and it takes two to tango!

  22. Ok I have read for two days about how this went down. Then I found out today what REALLY went down. Clarkrange let the "director" know they wouldn't play York WAY before the tournament bracket was released. They were not happy that York was even in the tournament when they had been coming there for several years. So he knew about it and knew they wouldn't play. There was also a discussion about the forfeit after the WC/Clarkrange game. There should have been a backup plan in case this situation happened but I don't think they planned on both of them ending in the losers bracket. Now after that has been said, let us all remember that this is not the ONLY team in the UC that refuses to play a team in the same county as them. And nobody has ever been shot in that matchup! There are also no board of education provisions against this game. You guys act like this is the first time this has ever happened. NOPE it happens every single year in one county. They play football but not basketball. Talk about that. #DontBeeScared

  23. They did not play in the 70's at all. Nikki Whited and Ronnie Slaven were on that last York team to play Clarkrange other than the previous mention consolation game in Livingston 15 or 20 years back

  25. Westview has always supported Gibson Co (except when playing against them lol!). You like to see small town West TN teams at state and successful so you always cheer them on! Yes I agree with that about Crawford. She and McCall went head to head in 8th grade last year but were teammates in AAU!

  27. It would take a miracle man to come in and straighten out the mess this program is in which really started after the 2007 season. WB made great efforts updating facilities but won't give an inch on bringing in someone qualified to rebuild this mess from ground up. They had one of the best youth teams as a feeder system which disbanded and a pretty good middle school team which got into the wrong hands and crashed last year. To add insult to injury they moved into a much weaker division last year and dropped Maryville off the schedule and went 1-9. They all know the problem there and no one will do anything about it. Nobody from Alcoa or Maryville wishes this on their neighbor. It would take someone with a lot of energy to go around so many of these elementary schools which feed into this to encourage kids to come out for youth league football and to get the public involved. There are enough schools that feed into this to have 3 teams but now there aren't any. The outcome from this will only get worse I'm afraid. I personally see both the Heritage and William Blount programs eventually disbanding because neither could win a game going three classes down. It's like watching Nero Fiddle while Rome Burns.

  28. WB resides in a community that takes football kinda serious relatively speaking. Alco and murvil are in the same county as WB and Hairtage. Some kids leave WB for football reasons and maybe join WB for basketball reasons. We are fairly close. IMO the ribbing is an attempt to “move” the WB admin towards making more of a commitment to football. It’s not like the kids living a few miles away are so much better. Most Blount county football fans would like to see all 4 county teams be successful. We are a bunch football fanatics. The ribbings don’t seem to be working.

  29. We didn’t play well. Lots of girls it was their first time on the floor there and we had played like 8 games out of 16 days because of the snowstorm, but it just wasn’t our day.

  30. Can somebody explain to me why William Blount High School gets so much attention on this site? I've never read through any of the WB threads, so forgive my ignorance. But for a program that has never been very successful, I'm continually amazed by how much discussion it gets. I would go so far as to say the only programs that get more action on the 5A/6A boards are Maryville and Oak Ridge. And I'm not asking in a snarky way, I am genuinely curious.

  31. Edit: Begins Monday, December 27! We're especially excited, since last year's tourney was cancelled, due to Covid. Thankfully, the protocols are much different this year! I'll be pulling for all four GreenE County teams and of course, GreenEville. Greeneville's number 10, Lauren Bailey, made All-state last year as a sophomore. Two years ago, I had the chance to see Upperman, in the Ladies Classic, when their post, Abigail Johnson, was a freshman. She didn't play like one. This year, I saw Upperman at the Lakeway Academy tourney on opening day. Looking forward to watching them play again. Will also be keeping an eye on Crouch and Cobb. I count myself among those Greene County residents who are proud of this tournament, that is very rich in history, and hope to attend as many games as possible! Best of luck and good fortune to everyone!
