  1. Apparently there are kids all the way back to 3rd grade waiting to take his place. They won’t even notice he’s gone.

  2. Everything always works itself out!! Not sure what the lineup will look like since that is up the coach's and who wins the wrestle offs. If one of boys doesn't make it so be it, nothing is given and everything is earned in this sport.

  3. Get outta here with this crap man! You wanna call out your own programs coaches, be a man a say to their faces. Not on a public forum behind a screen name. #jokeoftheyear

  4. Agreed! He’s not going to like the outcome, but he’s not the type that’s gonna keep on something that’s already done & over. It does suck, but moving forward regardless. That’s JB

  5. His son just lost state on a questionable call. I’d say he didn’t feel like shooting the breeze. I saw him at practice the following Tuesday and still wanted to give him space and not speak about it. Bosken is a no excuse type of guy, so “it is what it is” makes perfect sense to me.

  6. It sounds like Baylor was able to accommodate his request to have the ability to graduate early and enroll at Tennessee in January.

  7. Agree 100%!!! Not sure how long the reign will last but last season was the year to beat them. I've said this numerous times on here and in person to many of my fellow wrestling friends, parents and coaches. Some listen but many refuse to believe the facts and writing on the wall. A private school may beat them but it will be SEVERAL years before any public school in TN can match what they already have and what is coming up in the pipeline. The thing that separates the Cleveland room is their Cleveland coaching staff. They have AT LEAST 5 coaches (and this is just the guys that I know or know of) that are in the room every day and who are all better than 90-95% of the public school coaches in the state. There very well could be a couple more that I dont know of too! If a public school team has just 1 very knowledgeable coach in the room every day, the kids in the room benefit greatly. When you have a handful (or more) of experienced and knowledgeable coaches who help kids be the best version of themselves paired with kids willing to work hard and exceptional parental/community support, you get what they have going right now!

  8. I made my picks on who makes state and as long as van Buren loses to clay, I'll get them right. Pickett and Wayne are the 2 top teams. Everyone else could be really close matchups.

  9. During those years Bradley and McMinn only lost to each other and Maryville. Even still you can’t deny that Bradley, McMinn, and Cleveland are definitely tougher competition than cocke co, halls, sevier co, Clinton. Not to mention wins against the worst WB and South Doyle teams ever, and against a winless Seymour. Not really an impressive resume.

  10. I think the competition was a little different those years. Has Coach Osovet had to play against Bradley, McMinn, Cleveland, Alcoa. Not quite the same as playing against Cocke County.

  11. So because he coached wrestling and has been on Coach T for life means if he says it, then it must be true? Well I coach wrestling, specifically the kids he is talking about, I have traveled all over the country and seen the other Fab 50 teams and feel pretty good that we could beat at least one or two of them in a dual. The guy who does the Fab 50 is pretty knowledgeable about High School Wrestling in this country and he seems to think we deserve to be recognized in the rankings as well. But let me defer to @cbg since you have told me no one knows more about wrestling and the Fab 50 teams. He has such an expansive knowledge of all of those teams and their rosters that he knows we would not beat a single one of the them in a dual, so thank you for clearing that up.

  12. I was scrolling through my old messages on here and came across a name I haven’t seen in years. ParisRiverRat. It made me think about all the old coachTers and if they are still around or have passed away. Jimbo44 and Muffin are a couple more you don’t see much or at all.

  15. Yeah you’re right thank god…joke of the year 7 in a row. And if you question if Josh cares about the individuals, you should stop by sometime and hang out. Maybe you’ll learn something

  16. Perfectly said. People not close to him may be shocked by his actions when he is upset. Very understandable he didn’t wanna talk about it that night especially. lol

  17. A few parents saw Bosken's true colors come out after his son's match. Me and about 7 other parents were standing there and bosken walks by and one of parents said Bosken he turned around and the parent said y'all going to follow up on this, bosken threw his arms up and said ,"it is what it is". If this match had of cost the team the state champ I bet Knox would at tssaa office in person. These coaches are all about winning as a team not backing the wrestlers as an individual. I would want to know if the call was right or wrong.

  18. Cleveland could not beat Buford with their full lineup. Thinking they are better is nuts. Cleveland is good but they aren’t a “national” team as said.

  23. She was pumped up. Westview's crowd was rolling. I turned around and told my neighbor we might be going to Memphis Saturday Night if we don't shape up quick. I agree she is a great player. I will pull for her in every sport she plays. I hope she can lead the softball team to a World Series. We have been real close. That was a great contest last night. Both crowds were into it big time. Very loud in there. Proud of both programs. I am a Gibson County Fan but I have always pulled for Westview and West TN at state. I enjoyed watching the Westview girls play hard last night and leave it on the floor. That is what it is all about.

  24. I have to say this because it is pretty ironic. In football when Cookeville was winning against Upperman all the time they liked playing Upperman. Now that Upperman is winning it more Cookeville is saying playing Upperman doesn’t benefit them. That is correct because they our losing. Cookeville is saying that Upperman is recruiting its players. Win and they would want to stay. Maybe I’m looking g at it wrong. I’m just a arm chair quad tho lol

  25. Obviously I know you have no idea the way the program was being run so I don't fault you for that but to say things have majorly upgraded starting in the weight room is an understatement. There are several things that led to the coaching change and It had nothing to do with the record the past 3 years. We have moved on from 3 coaches total and have brought in 3 great new additions. Everything is stable at the View and kids are looking forward to a deep playoff run. Gonna be a lot of points scored the next few years to come and great D-fense play as well. Future is Bright in Martin thanks, to the administration making the appropriate changes.

  28. Gibson Female Pioneers ARE definitely as good as they usually are. They will not beat Millington or Covington because they do not play them. They play Memphis Trezevant. Gibson Female Pioneers are a whole different team from South Gibson Lady Hornets. Good luck to both Gibson Co teams! I don't claim to be a GERU, but I do know my Gibson Co basketball, so I approve this message.

  29. Ummmno how the heck are you doing? You watched Cleveland Raiders up close at state duals didn't you? Cleveland Raiders were just to good for everyone else. When people wrestled Cleveland Raiders they got their butts kicked. I guarantee it. It happened over and over. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  31. Dyersburg fell a little short - I miss this pick. I saw them a couple of times this season and they were really good both times. This is why I love basketball. On any given day... Well, you do have to have some ball players but on any given day any team can win. But, like I said, you have to have some ball players.

  33. I don’t know much either. They are obviously pretty good. Definitely no cupcake like in previous years. However don’t think they can matchup against Sparta as very few teams can. Dodgen needs to use his post players more IMO. Jones and Reed are dynamic and hard to guard on the block. Upperman was at a distinct disadvantage down low but credit Coach McWilliams for having a game plan and the girls for executing it to perfection early on.

  34. Almost as if classifications were different... You could probably wipe 2021 away because had I lost my son during the beginning of the season like Coach did, I'm not sure I could have continued to coach.

  35. Really not concerned with scores, numbers, all that. You can keep comparing Hammontree and O until your fingers can't type on that keyboard, it makes no difference. I'm more concerned with what I'm hearing from those connected to HHS. It's one thing when a couple of parents butt heads with staff or head coach and kids transfer or whatnot, it's one thing to have losing seasons, but I heard nothing about the previous staff like I've heard about this one. I guess having cussing and shoving matches between players and coaches on the sidelines (that you miss if you watch the live feed), players walking out on the team at halftime, players in the stands, players taking photos and videos, so on and so forth is just "what the doctor ordered" as you say. These kids are impressionable like I've said before and most will keep taking it, putting up with it so they have a chance at playing now and maybe in the future. It shouldn't be that way, no matter what coaches were doing 'back in your day'. These kids deserve good coaching, good life lessons, hard nose advice, but, any good - no, great - coach will tell you that they also need support, family, understanding and empathy. Look, I like to win and see these kids put up numbers just like the next guy, but at what freaking cost, man? These players and athletes in other sports can log on and see these boards just like us, I hope that those asking for change and for help see that there are at least a handful of us backing them up, standing up for them and wanting the best for them. I'm not saying you don't, Barney, but choose your words carefully. Quit comparing staffs, city to county schools. These kids know what they're up against, you don't have to beat a dead horse.

  37. What about Emma Simpson coming to the game tonight to cheer her teammates on after having ACL surgery today and not getting home until 5:30 and made it to GC by 7 tip!! Westview faithful gave her a standing ovation to show all she means to this program! I don’t think GC knew what was going on or they might have to. Incredible kid and incredible leader they are really missing this year!!

  38. Great game. Westview did everything they could to give themselves a chance. Just don’t have the horses in the end to stay with them. Believe GC outscored them 22-6. That GC defense is just another level when it’s locked in. Westview took Hart out of the game tonight. But the better team won. Hope to see both of these teams in the glass house next week!

  40. You know the Heritage coaching staff is crying the blues because White County got upset. Sparta is a much tougher matchup for them.

  41. Like I said, and you just admitted, you do not know the reason those players quit. Just like how you do not know the reason a similar amount quit at Heritage when this coach came in and halfway through the season. Whether new ones came out or not, you cannot justify one coach over another based on those that quit. I'm not going to say Coach Hammontree was perfect or his staff was top notch, but I do know firsthand what some of those players went through over the course of his tenure there. I'd like to see the coaching tree of Hammontree and the overall things that he's made happen at each of his stops and not the 'train wreck' you like to call Heritage. In one breath, nobody can fix it, another breath Coach O can, and in another if Coach O doesn't it'll be because of those above him or those that have it out for him. As if that didn't happen to Hammontree. You can't use one excuse for one coach and not the other. Pick your reasoning, but for God's sake stop comparing staffs. The big issue is what's going on NOW and what's being ALLOWED to continue. Nobody is talking about the TSSAA rules that get teetered around either. Tobacco on campus, energy drinks being pushed. Dude up here in this thread talking about the new weight training coach that's had the athletes in his home gym, sounds interesting. But what do I know.

  42. "hE's OnLy HaD tWo SeAsoNS" Previous staff had losing seasons, sure, but they also got to the playoffs for the first time in years back to back years I believe. You want to talk about old school discipline and hard work and determination in a POSITIVE way when it comes to a new coach, but NEGATIVELY in regard to the previous staff because of their W/L record. It's easy to look back at the previous staff tirelessly working towards plans to repair the stadium, new locker room, new weight room, turf. But, no, this guy did it single handedly. Walked in and BOOM, it happened. Not really, anybody with a brain would know that was years in preparation. Everybody questioned why they didn't have enough coaches on staff to run practices or a freshmen team, but never questioned those who allow those positions to be filled. Complained there weren't enough kids out for the team and said the staff didn't agree with kids playing multiple sports. Complete crock of crap. Especially when those same coaches were training those athletes for their second and third sports. Everybody always wants to complain when they don't see W's every week and blame those immediately connected, but not look at the bigger picture to see whose hands stayed tied for years. This staff comes in (not with big heavy hitting coaches) slap a social media presence around it, make a few 'you owe me' phone calls, win a few games and he's the 'savior the school needed' and yet, kids are still leaving, quitting, transferring, as are coaches. Odd.

  43. This is a great question. I have seen coaches that win every year and make the state tourney regularly that aren’t great coaches but have excellent talent. I see coaches who coach less talent and are competitive against everyone but may win only 10-12 games every year. I look at these things: 1. They play with effort and purpose. 2. Fundamentally sound. 3. Player development.. 4. Game plans that give them a chance to win. 5. Their in game adjustments succeed. 6. Play with discipline. 7. Togetherness This is how I judge a coach. Championship are great but that isn’t all that goes into being a good coach.
