  1. Coach T is not on here for personal jabs / let’s keep it about the game the kids deserve that and be positive about them they’ve all worked hard and it’s not life or death

  2. I keep hearing people say (insert team name) had a bad game against GH. When youre saying this over and over maybe GH is playing a part in those teams having a bad game.

  3. IMO...the reason for the uproar. You've got the ones upset over the previous hire and don't want to see a repeat and others that know that GR applied, interviewed and wants it. Of course there's some that fit in both areas. Things would probably calm down if they'd come out and give a TRUTHFUL reason of what they have against GR. If I was in his situation and had put 6 years into my alma mater and achieved what was done in that span a mere 2 year before. It would be nice to know in a way as well. The previous hire was the first true outside of the program hire, in my lifetime. All the other ones were already on the previous staffs.

  4. 27-7 is a really good year for around here, I watched the boys play against Lavergne last night and noticed they were pretty good fundamentally(passing, scoring off rebounds, getting and 1 points, playing their game of basketball) I'm really proud from wherever they've come from the beginning of season, we open the first round of state finals against Memphis Overton who I don't anything about due to them being on other side of state, I hope them all the best!

  7. Steve Hamer and David Woodard went at it back in 92’! David Woodard is probably up there with the best of them in the never made it category along with Curtis Woodard back in the 90’s

  8. ....or at least a zoom online drawing for transparency, even if it isn't needed. It's almost like they want the power houses to play each other on day 1. Who knows?

  9. Agree. I think the blind draw is the way to go but it should’nt be a closed door blind draw. Nothing good comes from it except questions.

  12. Congratulations Zack Rayl! So happy for you and the Greenback Community. Greenback you are getting a coach who will work tirelessly at restoring your program to the top of the 1A ranks where you expect to be. He is one of the best young minds I have had the pleasure to be around in the game. Good luck to my former colleague and friend.

  14. You want to get on here and say we were not a powerhouse like Maryville and Alcoa ! NO ONE on here ever said we were! But we were in CLASS A you can ask anyone around. Why do you want to get on here and try to stir trouble. You hide behind a computer screen. Who are you ? Are you from Greenback like you say or are you from somewhere else stirring the pot? Most of us on here know everyone on here and we are not afraid to say who we are. Everyone knows us. We meet people from all over and try to meet new people every year when we travel to away games. No one never said we wouldn't support a new coach. We just want to know why Rayn was not offered the job before these other 2. He has the best record and the I believe he would be the best fit. I have had people tell me he would not get the job because he left for more money. Well hello that's called life. Anyone on here who says that they would not have done the same is full of crap. I am sorry you can not begrudge a man for trying to better himself be it more money or whatever reason. The only reason he is not at Catholic is because his head coach got fired.. And we all know at private schools when the hea coach gets fired the whole staff is gone most of the time. I also understand that there was some on the hiring committee that was left in the dark about even offering the first coach the job until the kids told them that he turned them down. So why even have them on the committee if your not including them? That is just one of the issues that we want answered. Why has it taken so long to make a decision. If they were so sure these people were right? With all this being said I will support the new coach whoever it is, as long as he doesn't make us the laughing stock like the last coach has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. A don't understand why everybody is getting their panties in a wad. While you might not like the results of a blind draw, a blind draw is completely FAIR, free from any biases or preconceived notions. A blind draw doesn't play favorites. A blind draw doesn't hype or show favoritism to it's local team. I'd put my faith in a blind draw over ANY organization or committee trying to seed the teams, most of which they've certainly never actually seen.

  16. Not sure who was coaching the Oline down there last season but CGR most likely upgraded his staff with this hire. If "Country" can't do anything else, the man knows how to coach up an Oline!

  17. Yea we had a few mismatches on the floor that we took advantage of the entire game. We just missed the shot or free throws when we got fouled. People don’t understand how Hewitt-Trussvile (3D1 players) top team out of Alabama Cardinal Ritter(a top team in MO) everybody on the floor was 6”0 or above! Meade County(a top team in Kentucky) was very good Gibson County a top 5 team in AA Mckenzie a top 1-3 team in A TCA reached the title game in D2 Single A South Gibson is tough! It’s hard to beat a team 4 times with only 1 being at home. 2 was in SG & other on the road for region Murfreesboro Central was decent! #2 & #22 could flat out ball! Cupcake schedule is paying out… Tuh

  18. Hampton is rough and tough. That's the way they raise them in mountain country. Both games with South Greene started out with Hampton way behind. Hampton girls didn't lose their poise and came back to win both.

  19. As far as HC's go, Cunningham is a young guy. Better pay, fewer responsibilities and if he wants to be a HC again an endorsement from Gary Rankin? Sounds like a win. Coaches his age aren't worried about their pension

  20. Stopping #5 for McMinn Central is a task, just as I'm sure it is stopping #30 for G-P. McMinn Central's "other" girls can kill you if G-P doubles #5. Both teams earned their way here, though I think G-P had the tougher road getting here with their stronger district and region. Should be a great game.

  21. First and foremost as an educator I have the highest respect and regard for you. I come from a family with a long line of educators. My great great grandmother was the first woman in the state of Texas to get a teaching certificate. That said the ref that T-ed up folks post game while not maybe needed is something that goes to the core of the problem. He was at Half court when the players came after him to make his lewd comments. I can imagine you would not have ever acted out that way in your youth. I get the players were mad, disappointed, upset and a whole range of emotions. As far as the special needs kid being T-ed up in a moment when you are watching the players, the coaches, the bench. is it possible the ref did not note he was special needs immediately. I never seen a foul or technical waived off. I agree you don't wanna hand out a technical to someone in that position. The other two were legitimate technical fouls though. Finally the reason as a ref you hand those technical fouls out post game, is because it possibly impacts the future games. Should anything of developed that Blackman was found to have had a violation that would make them ineligible and Cleveland was back in, those technical fouls now matter, because they lead to ejection which would make those players ineligible. Barring that, it means they now become ineligible for the first games of next season should they have eligibility left to play. I think you would agree if a student said go F yourself or you are "B word" when leaving your classroom on a Friday, you would find them in school that day or on Monday and explain the repercussions of their actions. Not to get even but help them understand the consequences of acting in an inappropriate manner. And most of all you would not want that to be the precedent that as long as class is over you can behave or act in any fashion and not get in trouble for it

  22. McMinn Central 67 Gatlinburg Pittman 59 I am concerned about the matchup. Chargerettes will have to shoot well from beyond the arc to win this one.

  23. Last year at state the whole retired coaches section was talking about how Stump is a great player. In all my years they don't get surprised very easily. They thought it was Bearden's to lose. DB proved them wrong.

  25. What’s more shocking is adults talking crap about 15-18 year old girls. Grow up. They’ve beat the teams in front of them - Hendersonville, Beech, Brentwood and now Clarksville. Stop talking crap about them and give them credit for making a run.

  26. Let me get this straight, based off your comment you are feeling as if maybe the right thing to do is hand out some capri-suns and give them all cookies and of course it has to be the refs. Everyone on here knows the refs are crooked, looking to be insulted, harassed and hopefully take out their aggressions on a teenage kid all for the sake of a little more than gas money. Let me help you out here. I watched the game, I saw the kids running their mouth to the ref s during the game. I wasn't giving parenting advice or program management advice. It is called respect. Never ever is it ok for a teenager to talk to a ref, a teacher, a store clerk or a janitor like what happened. The minute you said "I am not condoning bad player behavior but...." you lost. The flaw with your theory is the players approached the ref. not the other way around. He didn't initiate the conversation they did.

  27. Not when a trip to the state tournament is on the line. Referees wants to be seen. This call is worse than when referee costed a team in the Arbys a win last year.

  28. Using a little thought here....but isn't the fact that there ARE tough matchups in the 1st round proof that it is/was a blind draw? If tough matchups never happened and all the "top" teams were always spread out.....now THAT would be proof TSSAA doesn't actually do a blind draw. While I am not a huge fan of the blind draw, I do think the TSSAA needs to go back to hosting the coaches and letting the coaches draw who they play.

  29. University of Webb probably isn’t doing anything outside the TSSAA rules. The problem is that they are able to assemble an International all star team within the rules! The rules need to be changed for boarding schools. If a student transfers they should sit out a year unless there is a bona fire change of address! That’s the rule for all other schools! Why don’t they have to play by the same rules? If they did, the AAU pipeline to Webb would stop because those DI power 5 players aren’t going to sit out a year. Huge unfair advantage to boarding schools. I don’t blame them for using the rules to their advantage. Playing field just needs to be leveled.

  30. This is all true, and not the issue; what I and others have an issue with is that these inbound transfers are immediately eligible to play sports. Each year they are turning over their rosters with incoming upperclassmen who are immediately eligible to play. The rest of us can all hope that a great athlete moves to the area and chooses our school, in which case he/she would be immediately eligible. But a local transfer is sitting out a year, which it just seems like no one is going to be willing to do, and who can blame them? Kudus to the BA basketball player who transferred from Centennial and sat out his junior year to play as a senior and is a key member of their team which will be the favorite to win state this weekend. But whatever, the TSSAA took up the question and voted it down, so the issue is settled for now. Really, because the TSSAA isn't concerned about intra-private school matters. But any inkling (i.e., this dumb thing with LA) that private schools are taking advantage of their local public schools, and they are all over it.

  32. Not at all. I’ve had to eat crow more than once. I can tell you I’m not afraid to say I was wrong. Just don’t lie about me that’s all I say. If I’m wrong, call me out tell me about it. I will absolutely admit it but don’t lie. There’s a lot of people that when they are wrong about something they will hide. You won’t see them again until the following year I don’t hide. I never said one time that Upperman was going to win. I said they were the champs until they were beaten, and they are beaten. The best team won. I will say this Hawkguy wins with class much respect to that guy. Now some of you others not so much
