I'm not sure which side of I-24 most of the kids being poached at the Waldren Rd. exit bus live on.  One side is zoned to LHS and the other Stew Creek which is always a few guys away from being a power team.  Now that SCHS is back in the region with Oakland, Riverdale, etc instead of Antioch, McGavock, etc - they need every athlete they can get in that zone and not get poached from.

Agreed. They have a solid coaching staff, I think they'll be fine

RE: 1993 Cleveland team. I will quote what Coach Monroe told the media when they were doing a retrospective of that team “You know, people remember that team for the offense, it averaged 50 points a game, but the real secret to the success of that team was the defense. We had 11 stallions on defense! You could have taken any one of the 11, put them on another team, and built a championship defense around them. And we had all 11!”

We were lucky to put up 28 on them. My UTC teammate who was on that team said that made them more mad than anything else that year.

Highly doubtful, but let's hear it.

All rankings based on M@xpreps which is the most accurate ranking service

2008 MUS 13-0 #25 in nation

2009 MUS 13-0 #17 in nation

2011 Ensworth 12-1 #12 in nation

2012 Ensworth 13-0 #9 in nation

2015 BA 12-1 #32 in nation

2017 BA 12-0 #44 in nation

95 BA 15-0

96 BA 15-0 not sure on final rankings of them but I have always hear that they were top 10 in USA Today after going 30-0. Many people regard this team as best team in state history as they are reason for pub/private split.

2014 Maryville 15-0 #25 in nation

2013 Maryville 15-0 #28 in nation

That's just 10 off the top of my head. I can name more as well if you want me to. The Cleveland team that year was solid and I know this because I have talked to someone who played against them in state game that yr, but to believe that they are best ever is simply foolish. Heck, there are even teams that have not won state that would more than likely  beat them.

The 90's in general were loaded.

'93 Cleveland

'94 Riverdale

'96 Brentwood Academy

'97 Pearl Cohn

I've heard all mentioned regularly among the best ever teams from TN. This current run Oakland is on has produced some great teams. That year they shut out Whitehaven in the finals like 38-0 has to be near the top.

M@xpreps has only been around since 2002 so who knows how what they would have ranked that Cleveland team.

To say they are the most accurate is asinine also.  There top 25 isn’t always the same as the USA Today’s or other polls.

I happen to believe that M@xpreps is the most accurate for a variety of reasons. If you take all the data into consideration I think that theirs Is the most accurate compared to usa today or etc. For example, last time I checked Oakland was I think #10 in nation, whereas on m@xpreps they are #26 which imo is a much more accurate ranking for them

2018, which got revenge on Maryville by beating them 37-0 if I remember correctly, although Maryville was playing without Tee Hodge. Hopefully one day Oakland and HC can play again, would love to the great environment you guys have there

I would venture most of the coaches around the state who know that Cleveland team would disagree with you completely.  I'm a Maryville guy, and even I know our '13 or '14 teams would not have beaten that Cleveland squad. I take little stock in any USA Today rankings as they only rank the large classification schools 99% of the time.
