  1. Week 2 Matchups Columbia Academy (1-0, 0-0) vs. 4AAAA Spring Hill (0-1, 0-0) Community (0-1, 0-0) at 5A Moore County (1-0, 0-0) Eagleville (1-0, 0-0) at 5A Cornersville (1-0, 0-0) Forrest (0-1, 0-0) at 5A Fayetteville (0-0, 0-1) Lewis County (1-0, 0-0) vs. 6AAA Camden (0-1, 0-0) Loretto (0-1, 0-0) vs. Rogers (AL) (0-0, 0-0) Summertown (1-0, 0-0) vs. 6A Wayne County (1-0, 0-0) Columbia Academy had a tight one Friday night when they travelled to a tough Div. II-A Nashville Christian and came away with a 21-14 victory. This week, The Bulldogs host 4AAAA Spring Hill who lost a close one to Summit Week 1. Another strong non-Region 5AA opponent to prepare CA for their region slate beginning Week 3. Community was doubled up by defending 1A runner up Cornersville, 41-20. This week, the Vikings hope to avoid another 0-2 start as they travel to Lynchburg to face Moore County. Community/Moore County was a high scoring affair last year in Unionville. The Raiders shut out Cascade last week at home, and look to start 2-0 for the second year in a row. Eagleville ran away from Huntland in their Week 1 matchup, 56-26. This week they return the trip to Class A runner-up from 2017 Cornersville. Both teams 1-0 coming in, and the Eagles took the Bulldogs behind the woodshed last year before Cornersville ran off 12 straight wins before losing in the State Championship. Eagleville’s dynamic offense gets this last tune up before starting Region 5AA play next week. Forrest struggled mightily in their week 1 matchup with Div. II-AA battle Ground Academy, but look to righten the ship against an 0-1 Fayetteville team from Region 5A. The Rockets could use this week to rectify some potential concerns before they begin Region 5AA play next week. Lewis County handled 6AA Scotts Hill for the 3rd time in a calendar year on Friday night. The Panther defense pitched a shutout, and now turns attention to 6AAA opponent Camden. The Lions were thrashed by arguably the best team in AA, Waverly, 43-8. The Panthers hope for a repeat of 2017, when they defeated Camden 26-7 in Hohenwald. Loretto kept the game closer than 2017 with Wayne County Friday night, losing 27-16. This week, they host Rogers High School from north Alabama in their home opener, which will also be the Pirate's season opener. Last year, the Mustangs lost their 4th straight to the team from Alabama 56-14, and will need a huge effort to keep this one close. Summertown held on to win at home against Hickman County 28-14, avenging a season-opening 1-point loss from a year ago. This week, the Eagles will again be at home, this time hosting a much stronger Wayne County team that defeated Loretto in their opener in week 1.

  2. I remember what an old ball coach once said.I didn't like it but it was fact.In short he said it wasn't his job not to score but your job to stop his team from scoring.People can pess and moan but these kids are out there playing a game they love.Fact is, Greeneville could have pulled their starters after the National anthem and won.A kid can get hurt in practice .I know because it happened to one of mine.Stupid to think it's about stats because he already has a D1 ride waiting . It's about a team being as prepared to win as they can.I think our coach is better then any in this area when it comes to That. Our second and third team plays a bunch and every week they go against a lot better in practice then they will see most Fridays.....

  3. I understand, but getting backups valuable time against “1s” could later prove to be big. I’m all about scoring every possession and as many points as you can. Run your offense. Do what you do. Just run your offense with the “2s”. I also want to say I believe the Greeneville program, staff and team are very good. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with everything they do. I am just saying personally I wouldn’t have my starters in at that point throwing the ball in that situation.

  6. Looks like a high of 85 with a 20% chance of showers this Friday night in Cleveland. With such a bleak forecast, what are the chances that this game is even played?

  7. If you were reading the Professional Bio's of the following: Brain Surgeon Weather Forecaster Attorney Chef Plumber Accountant Car Mechanic Interpreter Surveyor Airline Pilot Home Builder Veterinarian Investment Broker Tattooist Cancer Doctor Barber Optometrist Pharmacist Would you settle for one of these professionals that in the last 3 years has had a success rate of 16%? I didn't think so so why do you settle for a Head Football Coach to mismanage your ball players for 4 years? Why haven't you approached the AD or Principal? Why do you whisper and talk trash in the stands but are silent in their presence? Remember Gov Nation The future belongs to the strong and aggressive and the weak and timid will stay behind and guard the past.

  9. I agree this week will be over quickly. I think anytime you re playing a good team you have to worry about “finding a way to beat them” That’s all I’m saying. Whitwell is a few months away, but they are a senior loaded team with a whole bunch of athletes. It will be a major challenge when we get to them. Next up though is Boyd.

  12. Heath is a gamer. His brother too. What great games those were. Love was The Bus. Luke Turner is one of the most ferocious players I've seen at any level, in the context of a men vs boys thing. He was a monster

  15. You are very wrong on why Ensworth’s coach stepped down. Do a little research and you’ll see why. It’s a family matter, so I’m not going to talk about it on a public thread. You’re also very wrong about the talent level at Ensworth as they probably have one of the largest number of highly recruited players in middle TN. Check out the player recruiting rankings for 2019 and 2020. There will be nothing easy about this game. It is in no way the best possible time.

  16. BPM is no snowflake! Even though he is ugly, 2 bit, yella bellied sap sucking bullfrog fan he calls a spade a spade. Last year he called milan exactly what they were. I know it hurt his feelings to do it but he did it. I feel like Peabody is going to do what the dogs do to fire hydrants. Walk up pee on it and walk away! All in good fun. It should be a great game. I know that neither team is going to be short on athletic ability.

  21. How many times have you seen a player get hurt because they left him in the game to long? It's very rare. I'd say there have been more players hurt stepping off the bus than there have been by staying in a game to long.

  22. That building your thinking of (North) is going to be the new middle school combining Sevier and Robinson. And like you said, they don't think enough of the football program to even consider doing anything like that. The problems are the same at SH and DB. They hired average head coaches and then let them hire all their friends as assistants.

  23. Not all this again guys. Just let it go. Focus on the positives in metro and forget about all the other junk. There are great coaches out there regardless of skin color and regardless of whether they have been to a state title game. There are great coaches that also do it by the book and won't even get in the gray area. There are on the flip side awful coaches with all different skin colors and some have been to state titles games due to talent. It's everywhere on every level. The best thing we can do as fans is to support our teams and hope they are doing things right.

  29. I think it will tell a lot about both teams. And, both should come away as better teams because I see this as being a competitive game on both sides of the ball. Young people need to understand that strong competition is an opportunity to sharpen skills.

  32. Greenville scored 43 points. They could of scored 70. They went easy on DB. Ballard could of thrown a 63 yard pass on every possession if he wanted.

  33. congrats on the win AC, only 11 or 12 more before we end your season again (Im filling in for Devilman, he had to go take his vitamins and geretol)

  34. Perhaps they will early, but I’ve also seen it end players’ season when it was unnecessary. I understand the rules and basic math as well, it’s just not a risk worth taking IMO. Also, as far as what most coaches do, I’m not so sure about that and I’m certain most aren’t throwing deep passes that late in the game with a “33” point lead.

  35. I’m not jealous. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Greeneville has a great team. I just don’t think I would have the starters in at 36-3. What happens if Ballard goes down while throwing that 63 yard touchdown that means nothing? I also wouldn’t be throwing 63 yard passes up 36-3 half way through the 4th quarter, but that’s just me.

  36. What I saw was a 63 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter... while up 36-3. I think that proves my earlier statement.

  38. I was there. I wish I made note of which player it was. I'm sure there is video that would say who it was. When they first came through I was proud they included an American flag among the 2 spirit flags. Then I noticed the spirit flags were held much higher than the American flag. About that time I realized that, the player that had the American flag tossed it on the side lines. I about come unglued in my mind. Within a matter of a few seconds, #76 (Walters I believe) picked it up and put it up respectably. I was about ready to take it to Haney, but I wasn't sure if maybe I was the only one that noticed. Regardless, I was proud that 76 grabbed it as soon as he realized it. Overall this wasn't a proud Peabody moment. If we can't respect the flag, then don't run out with it.
