You guys can get mad at him for the insult all you want, and I’m not necessarily disagreeing. The insults should stay off the message boards. However, I do believe they are justified. $1500 to wrestle in a tournament is insane. The majority of our wrestling families will not be able to afford that. On top of that you’re forcing them to compete at 2 other tournaments before you even allow them the opportunity to compete at Fargo. One of those tournaments being in Georgia requiring a weekend in a hotel. Now you are looking at over $2000 just to wrestle at Fargo. This is just plain wrong. The #1 goal should be growing wrestling in TN, and getting as many of our top kids there as possible. We had some impressive results last year, and had the opportunity to expand on that this year. Charging this much money is not helping to achieve this goal. How can you justify this? How is this the best move for our state? I’m just dumbfounded over this decision. I’ve always thought Bowers took more heat than deserved in past years, but I can’t defend this. I believe it may be time for new leadership with our state’s best interest in mind.

Parents and Fans. I understand that you are all die hard fans and cheer for your team. It absolutely blows my mind that any person on here would ever call a player out saying they aren't that good. And several times using their name when you do that. They are still kids. They dont get payed!! Im sure they read these threads. Just keep that in mind when you call a player out. Absolutely ridiculous in my humble opinion.

Why is being Petty such an amusing act on this forum. It seems like none of you actually have the facts right. 1. Its been posted that at the 2018 Annual Meeting the $1500 for Fargo was Voted on, if you go to the web site, it can be validated to be true. 2. If there is an NDA, why would a Director actually speak contrary to the meeting minutes. 3. Why would a single Board member post on this forum, if the Petty members have nothing better to do than belittle and demean all the hard work they do. It seems instead of helping and giving SOLUTION to issues, most would act juvenile with unsubstantiated remarks. How about offering ideas that bring the State together and praise the Board for the hard work that has been done. Without them would there even be a Board to complain about. Lets unit with the intentions of Causing Positive Change with the hope it lasts for years to come. Lastly it seems that different people have talk to this Board member or that Board member but no one has said exactly WHO!!!! Lets Not be Petty. Colossians 1:10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

I’ll say this, I’ve watched a lot of games the last couple days and the basketball is terrible outside of Riverdale, Westview in spurts and Greenfield! Idk how most of these teams made it?!? I’d hate to see the rest of the teams below these teams in their districts and regions! Worst basketball I have seen in a long time!

If East Nashville had an enrollment of over 1100 students they would likely be 5A in football instead of 3A.

Alright this is getting about stupid y'all are all going to run the state into the ground because you cant work together and actually come up with ideas to help. You would much rather come on a forum and complain. While I definitely don't agree with everything Bowers does I don't see some of y'all stepping to the plate to try to deal with all he has to put up with. If he has upset you to the point you cant have a conversation with him you don't have to talk to him. All the other board members names are on here give them a call and tell them your ideas you think would help. Better yet just jump on the conference calls I Live in Maryland and I have still been on more conference calls then most of you probably have and he does post when they will be so no one can use the excuse i didn't know there was one. This talking trash about each other is not helping just hurting the state more.

Interesting thing is that Blair was a Cleveland Middle kid. I'm glad she went to Bradley or we would be talking about Cleveland right now as Bradley is very average without her.

Sounds like your a little bitter that your team doesn’t get good players. Great Players want to play for Great Teams. Bradley’s Coach and Lebanon’s Coach are some of the best around. They coach their kids hard and prepare them to play at the next level. Why wouldn’t a good player want to play for these programs?

For you to even say that we could possibly win three of those 10 games it's kind of embarrassing.Just my opinion tho. But i think it would be more like 5/5.

I’m not sure what you are trying to prove with that statement? Triple A schools have 4-5 times as many kids to pick from. Not an even playing field. But Chloe Moore would start for any team in the state.

Having been a member of numerous not for profit (501c3) boards over the years I must say that the minutes and budget of Tennessee Wrestling Federation are quite vague at best. I see absolutely no reason that a member club that is in good standing (have paid their dues) could not ask for (Send a certified letter) and receive a copy of the 2018 audited books along with receipts for purchased items in a reasonable (30 days maximum) amount of time. You should also be able to request a copy of the 2019 proposed budget with financial figures attached. Most 501c3 organizations will post a copy of the certified and audited books online for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Huh, last year it was voted on a wrestler must attend SER... This year “a regional tournament “. Why the change after all the we have to wrestle our regional tournament? Three years, three different sets of rules. Call it what you want but I say it’s bull$h1t.

Being from Lawrenceburg, I think it's pretty awesome that we have 2 schools (loretto and summertown) from the same county in the state tournament. It's a testament to the athletes in this county. The last few years there has been 4 state championships and several other state tournament appearance's from these two schools. Both teams have experience in state tournaments and have players who have won state tournaments in other sports. That experience will do both teams well. I hope they are both playing on Saturday and then may the best team win! Good luck Lady Mustangs and Eagles....

I believe Blair’s biggest offer is Jacksonville State, as of now, but I’d be surprised if she didn’t pick up more good ones this summer. She had a huge steal in the 4th quarter too.

1. Alcoa 2. Milan 3. Covington 4.Austin East 5. Upperman I think Milan is close this year and Covington lost a lot, especially with their head coach leaving. Lot of respect for him and the program. AE could be a sleeper this year. lots of speed and athleticism coming back. I hear a freshman with legit jets and a solid big man could be transferring in. Upperman's HC is another good one and they should be solid with a playmaker at QB. I refuse to put PC in the preseason top 5. After the last two years of middle TN folks hyping the Firebirds up like they were the 85 bears and 78 steelers combined and producing zero after Thanksgiving, they are going to have to make it to Cookeville before I buy into them.

I will take a stab at a top 5 1. Alcoa (as always) 2. Milan (tie) 2. Covington (tie) 4. Pearl 5. Upperman alcoa is a machine and just keeps on keeping on. Milan has a new offensive coordinator but returns a lot of talent. Covington losses a lot of talent and head coach but returns a Mr. Football finalist. PC could very well be no 2 but until they get over the region 7 hurdle I just can’t put them there. This may be the year though. Much respect to the firebirds. And it is my understanding Upperman has some good talent coming back. This is just my two cents....

Madison Hayes averages 25 points a game and 12 rebounds. You have not seen anyone, anywhere play better than her this season. She is hands down the best player in the state that does not play for Hamilton Heights. Take your hate somewhere else.

The matchup with Whitehaven will be very tough physically but Sevier County is very well coached. Ken Wright is one of the very best coaches in TN high school basketball, IMO. For those who don’t know his background- he coached at Augusta Westside HS in Georgia for several years in the 1990’s and in fact led them to a state title as well as an Arby’s Classic title over George Pitts & Science Hill in their heyday. Two of his former players at Westside later faced off as starters in an NCAA championship game between Duke & UConn- William Avery (Duke) & Ricky Moore ( UConn). Coach Wright obviously doesn’t have the talent at Sevier County that he had at Westside but he always coaches them up and gets his teams to play to their maximum potential.
