  1. The QB is a real good kid. He is learning a new offensive system that last week saw his best receiver out, his second best receiver out part of the game and may be for a while. The last pass of the game was catchable by the receiver, who just didn't make the play. He had times when it was a passing situation that I thought he held the ball too long and got sacked so he does need to throw it away when he can to avoid sacks, but part of that goes on the offensive line too, he got flushed from the pocket several times due to up the field defensive pressure, He also completed several passes under pressure on that last drive and took OR down the field from poor field position in the last 1:09 to give us a chance to make a play to win the game with 0:06 seconds left. On that last play he was flushed and rolled out buying time to either make a throw or run and the pass fell incomplete in the end zone. The real problem for Oak Ridge going forward is injuries, which continue to plague them, hopefully they will get guys healthy for region games and a good playoff run,

  2. Dyersburg should never quit playing Haywood, Crockett County and Milan. I know we are in a new region but what do you gain by playing teams like Martin Luther King, Booker T. Washington and Bolton? Nothing but a false sense of self confidence and three guaranteed W’s. Play Haywood, Crockett County and Milan plus Dyer County and when the playoffs come you will be battle tested. If you can’t play one of those three play a USJ or Henry County. It’s a win, win for everybody. You play these ShelbyCounty /Memphis City schools there is no crowd, none of the schools makes anything in concession stand sales and what not , those poor kids you are playing can’t even punt or kick extra points and it’s a joke. Play those tough schools you are guaranteed a big crowd, a big increase in concession stand revenue and your team plays great competition. And when the playoffs come you have been in every kind of environment there is plus other than Alcoa you will not meet a team as good or better year in and year out than Haywood, Milan or Henry County and you can’t say “if we would have played them on the turf we would have beat them” Give it a shot. Even if you lose to those good teams, you win your region games you still make the playoffs. Just a thought from a loyal Trojan fan in the stands.

  3. What I’m saying is that face to face most of us choose our words more carefully and are a little bit kinder. It’s more difficult to say mean things while standing next to the person those words affect when you are able to see the effect it has on them. I don’t actually believe that calling a kid the worst QB in the state is the same as a website posting stats. When I see stats that show incompletions , sacks, interceptions (on any team this isn’t OR specific) sure I see that the pass game isn’t going well, but hey perhaps the O line isn’t doing so great, maybe the receivers share some blame but calling someone out as the worse QB in the state pins all the responsibility on him. It’s making it personally specific to him, and that’s the difference. He’s the QB1 presumably because the staff feels that he’s the best option the team has. I’d imagine if they had someone they thought was better, that guy would be out there. So when people get down on him, and talk him down, it just serves to shake his confidence and potentially make matters worse. I get the frustrations. My team had so many WTH moments last Friday. QB, d line, o line, special teams…pretty much everyone except our RB. It’s totally possible to criticize bad plays and bad decisions without tearing down a kid.

  4. Trenton will dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and that will = a Peabody win

  5. I disagree with you sportman. I don't think it hurt us at all. Playing teams that are clearly better than us only benefit us late in the season. Now am I saying we need to play oakland every year no but seeing a team or two that has elite speed, runs an up tempo offense, etc only helps us prepare for Gordonsville, McKenzie, Peabody, or whoever it may be. There have been too many years we have gotten beat either late in the playoffs or in the championship game due to having a weak schedule. I would much rather have a couple of regular season losses each year than not be prepared for whoever we may face in the post season.

  6. Y’all better start paying some rent for some of them Dunlap kids that play football instead of recruiting MS girls basketball players from the area, because it looks like y’all fellas need some help. SP just mercy ruled the team that put a 50 Piece on your forehead. Once again though this thread stems from someone up the road worrying about SP instead of how to win football games in November and December. Those layup lines will come sooner than anticipated this season in Jasper.

  7. Whitwell will win this as bad as they want. Basin just lost to a school with a first year football team.

  8. I had the same thought. I know these games can get emotional but we have to remember these are 14-18 year old kids. Not saying there can’t be criticism but let’s not write things we’d probably not say to someone’s face. It’s not about being soft. It’s about not being cruel. To a kid.

  13. Come this Thursday to westmoreland TN! This will be a knock down drag out! Westmoreland has some injuries but this senior class will fight until their very last breath. Every game they have played the past 2 years have been exciting

  14. Bledsoe at Meigs county! A growing heated rivalry. So bad that Bledsoe used the Covid card last year. Will be a dandy at Jewell field

  16. It will be all Trenton in this game. Lake County will make a little noise but Trenton will come out on top at least 2 or 3 T D'Souza. The coaching, conditioning, fundamentals will all be a difference in the game for Trenton.

  18. All I’m saying is Stowe has gotten a pretty good reputation of wanting to play weaker schedules and padding his stats than playing stiffer competition and increasing his teams odds come playoff time. I think it’s a shame. As much history that Haywood and Dyersburg have I think we should play every year regardless of classification.

  19. Last minute FG from #7 Trey Pack wins this one for H2O… in my best laid plans prediction . The atmosphere at Westy is always electric. Should be a very interesting Thursday night.

  20. Should be a good game. If I had to bet, I'd still bet OR wins a hard fought game. But, I am an OR guy and might be prejudiced a little. I'll guess 24-20 OR.

  22. The schedule was already made so I can’t help that but when we meet up you will see that we are a lot better than last year. Y’all scheduled McKenzie we scheduled USJ. Y’all play Trenton we played lake county. Y’all play riverside we play Ripley. The rest are our region games that you all play too and when the last game comes we will be ready for the Stanks.

  23. was trying to be nice. : ) I dont think they will play LA. pretty psyched for our little community!

  24. I’m sure they are good but not 34 pts better than UC. Ask USJ and Lake County. We will be ready for the mustangs when the time comes. last year both LC and USJ hung over 30 points on UC. This year against the starters they have a combined 12 pts to our 81pts. Please doubt the Tornadoes.

  25. The last time USJ North ran the spread they went 2-8. Do they know how to effectively run the spread? They should message Mike Leach. Milan should've held on to Diffee. He would take care of business, as he's known to do.

  26. Ya know CJ we might just have to let them win now and then so they don't get all mad and don't want to play us anymore. haha Know better than that! Ought to be a good hard fought game like always. Just no injuries on either team. WILDCAT PRIDE

  27. Strong down the middle of the road analysis. It’s never that simple when 22 young people are on the field. Great perspective CactusJack!

  32. Here are some Peabody Kees to victory 1. Offensive line has been dominant for the most part , that MUST continue this week 2. The middle will be tough sledding for LC but Peabody must improve edge containment or Day Day could have 150 + yards ! 3. Turnovers , of course that’s number 1 ! Several simple drops by the Tide and a couple that they divert the ball up as they miss the catch, led to multiple interceptions!!!! Fundamentals imho 4 play calling play calling play calling, just believe me, this Tide wide receiving core is as talented as any in 1 and 2A , do t care about others opinions , that’s mine ! 5 Mad Scientist must dial up pressure !!!

  33. I appreciate this response. Maybe you aren’t the jerk you led us to believe. Seriously, it was just all in the bluntness and how many times you chose to repeat it. Obviously, he has some work to do, but he’s doing it. He will be fine.

  36. How is me saying it any different then unapproved website putting out a ranking and he’s behind every QB in the region as of right now besides Potts and that’s because he hasn’t played it’s not bashing it’s stating facts he probably won’t even see what I’m saying I guarantee he sees those rankings though, in 4-5 weeks it could change and I’ll be right here saying how much he’s improved. It’s no different then the criticism Arch Manning deals with they’re senior Quarterbacks this comes with it y’all doing more harm to the kid then anything I’ve said if you can watch him play and then get on here and say he’s doing fine be real with the kid if you care so much about OR football stuff like that should make a player improve. Don’t call me pitiful I’m saying what a lot real fans want to say but have became soft Jared Tharpe heard way worse and went out & threw for 300+ That’s what I want sharpe to do.

  37. Time to see if crockett is really back or not. Last few games they have looked like a legit team… but Haywood has also looked like a team, like they usually have. I think the game will be closer this year, but Haywood comes out on top.

  38. I don’t think this at all. HC has a good team, that lost a close game to another good team. I think people just like to get you guys riled up. Lol

  40. We have heard all spring and summer from the Lake County folks how they will win the region this year. They have provided a lot of bulletin board material for Peabody. I will say that teams that are considered championship material have an identity to them. What identity does Lake County have? Giving up as many points as they have the first two weeks is not what championship teams do. Last year South Pittsburg played Oakland and didn’t give up that many points. If you break down position by position, Lake County will have the better player at a few positions but not many. The best player on the field next Friday will be wearing black and gold. What is Lake County’s plan to stop Kee next week? If you double him or send a safety to his side, the other Peabody receivers will hurt you. If Lake County only keeps 6 or 7 in the box, the Peabody o-line will run over them. Will Lake County make some plays offensively, of course they will because they have some serious talent on that side of the ball. But, they will have to be perfect on offense to pull out a win. Turnovers will be the key. If Peabody doesn’t turn it over I like our chances.

  41. Not only do I have a tone of respect for the Devils and there program I know they have made the Cyclones program work hard to get better and win there Gold Balls.I have to say the Devils should beat my Cyclones in this game. This team has some growing up to do but they will get better as the year goes on.Hope for a good game with no injuries.

  42. That officiating comment is laughable. In McMinn's only home game this year they received 17 penalties for 140 yards. I went back and checked the last two games that Rhea played at McMinn, and McMinn received far more penalties for far more yards than Rhea did, so those officials seem to have really helped Rhea. Maybe that's what you meant by the "fine officials crew", meaning Rhea gets the advantage?

  43. Eh I'll cheer for my guys from Paris when it comes playoff time but for the most part I agree. Can you ever remember there being this many just flat out good teams in 1A and 2A in our area? This year has all the ingredients for an all time memorable season in the smaller classes

  45. Here's is my prediction for OR after Bearden. First hat's off to Bearden, tough team and deserved to win. Wish them well. I predict OR gets about 5-7 kids back around mid season, that plus the team acclimating better to Coach Cummings ideas as opposed to the past stuff they were used to will cause OR to become good late. Especially as the OL improves. Right now OR is better than last year already, Bearden would have beaten us last year about 21-0, we simply could not move the ball last season at all. The other team kept the ball last year 90% of the time except for a team or 2 that were beyond awful. I predict IF we make the playoffs we'll surprise some playoff teams who see a 4-5 loss team and assume we suck. I think OR will be a 5A load late this season. Right now, we'll have a really difficult time beating good teams. BTW, I don't get the idea our QB is awful, he looked fairly good to me. I've seen way worse here and other places.

  46. It was a great game to watch and Oak Ridge really missed a couple players no doubt but I was impressed with how hard both teams fought . I do have a question about the end of the Game , I thought the Oak Ridge TE made it all the way to the 10 yard line only to be spotted back at the 15 , this caused OR to lose a lot of time getting the first down on the next play . I tried to go back and watch that play again but it messed my stream up , was I just seeing things or did anyone else think this too ? Not trying to take anything away from either team , both teams deserved to win , I was just curious if my Old eyes let me down .
