  4. What kind of clownery is this?? Walter Nolan got injured (allegedly) 127 times his senior year and Lowe stuck him back in there. He even gave Jimbo Fisher the magic elixir, I guess, because Nolan played the week after he was carted off and left for dead a month ago in Neyland.

  12. Sort of. Smith County is NFHS, so we've been denied the right to have a full video broadcast. However, we are able to have an audio broadcast, so we will have a Facebook stream with full audio play-by-play, and may cut to some "live look-ins" video portions.

  13. The amount of talent Humboldt could’ve had from 2010 beyond is crazy. The kids that live there and moved to crockett, Peabody, SGC, JCS, TCA or USJ just shows how much the school has fallen. Back in the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s they were good in almost every sport.

  18. FRA is an excellent team. Their only flaw IMO is the QB's ability to go deep consistently. They could pick on lesser opponents in the region but in the first game vs. CPA the defensive backs got the best of him. They have the O line and ball carriers to run the ball and control the clock but have to play perfectly and call plays perfectly to win. In the other game, DA's defense has to be dominant for 4 quarters. A couple of times this season they let teams get some momentum (Lausanne included) and they can't afford to let BB do that this week. We've been fortunate to get CPA vs FRA twice this season and if we get CPA vs BB in the final I think those are the top 3 teams.

  21. Most don’t know that there are no zoning restrictions in Bradley, basically a kid can go to what high school they want or parents want regardless of the 3 middle schools. As impressive as that group from LFMS was this year I’m pretty positive some of that group will end up at WV like the year before. Some of the Cleveland middle kids came to Bradley High School from last year. If Bradley wins it, it’s going to certainly help with athletes. It’s going to be pretty exciting to watch this freshman kid develop over the next few years that’s starting now for Bradley.

  23. Only McKenzie posters I see on this thread is myself and VOLnWTN who is one of the best posters on the T IMO very respectful and always keeps it 100% . So here is the Mckenzie perspective. We have played Moore County the past 2 years so nobody has to tell us how good they are we know what we are walking into come this Friday night. If you go back and and read my post from earlier in the year I had Moore County as the favorite coming out the west before the season even started while everyone else was picking UC ( and UC still may make it all the way.) We are the underdog on the road against a team that has plenty of motivation to want to take us out to the wood shed. There are numerous ways this game can play out and Mckenzie winning is definitely one of those. I think back to a very young Rebel team in 2020 who they said had no shot in a 2A quarterfinal on the road @ Peabody and the Rebels took the eventual state champs to double overtime. We have the most respect for this Moore Co team and coaching staff. Our boys will show up and give them all we got and let the chips fall where they may. If we come up short we will tip our cap and move on. If we come out on the winning side the Rebels will be ready for another big test the following week. Hoping both teams come out of this one healthy and 100% moving forward.

  25. Just think that at one point West, Powell, OR, and Fulton all were in the same region around '17-'20. That was a gauntlet for sure. Fulton was still getting players at the beginning, West was coming on, Powell was stacked, OR was good as well.

  27. With the talent that was on those 13 and 14 Union City teams you could have had a playbook with 1 play and still won the gold ball. There have been very few 1a teams with athletes like that.

  28. Ok folks this Friday will be a showdown. Dresden brings a great team that is undefeated this year including a 3pt win over Union City. Union City comes in and seems to be hitting their stride now more than ever. Defense is relentless, Offense is not only blasting as usual up the middle but also flying around the edges. Will it be a blow out? NO!!!!!! Does Union City have a sour taste in their mouth over a game they could have won the 1st time? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dresden has home field advantage but Union City fans travel well and this team seems to like playing on the road as their record shows. Both teams respect each other and know that it won’t be an easy win. The road to the Championship runs through this game in my opinion. The fans and the field won’t determine this game only the young men and their determination will decide this game. The new season has started now and both teams are 2-0. Let play some good ole West Tennessee football. GO Tornados!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Gordonsville better run split back veer like Union City this week and keep ball away from South Pitt or it will get away from them. I don’t personally see them going there two years in a row and pulling a W. If South Pitt gets up they will pour it on and make up for the L last season. I am just keeping it real

  34. AJ Wallace is a difference maker for sure but from what I have seen this year it’s the Seniors that returned that is biggest difference. QB looks to have leaned up and moves much better. The Ferrior kid also is a stud on both sides of the ball and one of best Linebackers in 1A. Lastly the other receiver they have opposite of Wallace has been a game changer. Got a good younger RB but not sure if he played on last years team or not. The big boy from Ga isn’t much of a threat on offense imo. I am just keeping it real

  38. Not to sound bad or anything, but the people that have bought 250k to 500k houses in Medina will not have their kids go to school with the students at Humboldt. They will continue to do everything in their power to make sure that the Humboldt kids do not go to South Gibson. I know it is not a popular thing to say, but that is the reality. Take it as you want, but that is the facts.

  41. Agree with that of city comparisons, but pulling kids from 75,000 Putnam County and competing with decent programs like Monterey and Cookeville. Cookeville is the baby of the schoolboard, just look at the facilities they have. Also competing with other traditional sports like and ones like Lacross and Wrestling. Most 4a schools don't even have those sports. Macon population is around 28,000. But MCHS is the main show, RBS is the little sister. The gap and pulling power is way more equal than you think on the surface than just looking at county population numbers. From athletes in Westmoreland, Trousdale, Red Boiling, and Hermitage Springs finding thier way to MCHS. The more you win, the more you draw. Always has been, always will be.

  45. It's quite amazing that you seem to know everything that goes on in Putnam county despite living two counties away and whining on CoachT every waking hour. The only advantages Upperman has are coaching, community support, and last but certainly not the least, a championship work ethic. This did not happen over night; every team in the Upper Cumberland has been getting out-worked by the Bees for over a decade. It is 100% home-grown talent. Coaches like Gabe Villarreal (now at Smyrna) instilled in us the mentality of a champion, and although he wasn't with the team long, he was instrumental in the development of players such as York and Ely. We still had that championship mentality even when we were 1-9 back to back seasons and only 19 players remained, and Coach Derek Samber was the scout team QB just so we could hold practices. We still had that mentality when we could only beat Pickett Co and were one of the worst teams in the state. Pieces began to fall into place when Herron became head coach and rallied the community and got more students to show up. It wasn't a fluke when York and company dominated nearly every team they came across that year, and little ol' Baxter set national and state records against a team that could pull players from Chattanooga (over 40 times the population of Baxter btw), and beat a private from the same city. And when that same boy ends up on the front page of the Tennessean, the team is the talk of the town, standing room only at home yet even the mayor is there, kids who have never had a passing thought about football all of a sudden want to put the pads on next year. All because someone told them YES, they can in fact win in football. That was the beginning of a burgeoning culture at Upperman. Success breeds success, and nowadays when kids and parents can just google "what's the best football team in Putnam" before moving here, we don't have to do anything. Same guess for coaches like Caine. They just show up on our doorstep. It's like stealing candy (or players) from a crybaby. They certainly aren't moving to a school where all they can do is whine about how it's not fair. Players in my class moved to Gordonsville and Smith Co because we sucked. Both good players, one a hard hitting LB and the other probably the biggest lineman to come through Upperman. Both could've made a huge impact on the field. But I didn't come crying about it on the T. I put in more work in the off season. "B-but Upperman fans cry too when they lose!", you exclaim. I've never accused teams like Alcoa of recruiting/cheating/etc, just salty about getting trounced deep in the playoffs. The people who choose to shift blame to things out of their control (refs, other teams) are just sore losers. It's been over 10 weeks yet you're still butthurt about your 1 loss to the U. You don't actually want to win, you just want your ego satisfied. If you did you'd work harder the next week. When the Tornadoes came to Cookeville years ago and I saw them play, I thought "They're the team I have to beat to win state". You on the other hand see a team like them and think "they're cheaters!" You've got the same mindset as the kids that quit the team because we didn't win but one game, or because the workouts were too hard. Simply put, you're a quitter who pouts and stamps your feet when things don't go your way. I don't know why the Tigers haven't forfeited this game already. Its apparent no one in Lafayette believes they can win. Just go ahead and turn your pads in. If you can't even beat Baxter, what do you think's gonna happen against Anderson Co, Greeneville, or Pearl-Cohn? And Cookeville players? They couldn't hold our jockstraps until they learn how to play football like an Upperman Bee. Ain't it funny how one or two players from a mediocre 6A school can turn little ol' Baxter into a program Cookeville can only dream of. The Bees would go 10-0 with the Cav's schedule. Surely it can't be the coaches? Or maybe a winning mentality that has been developed over the years? Naw, must be those superstars we get from the other side of Willow Ave., they just turn into 5-Star recruits when they walk into Baxter city limits. The fact that you continue to denigrate the team and the players who have put so much blood, sweat, and tears into building a championship-level program, only to be accused of behaving like Lipscomb Academy or Brentwood Academy and attributing all of our success to a school that couldn't win a coin flip with a marble, is quite telling of your low moral and mental aptitude. All of this and we haven't even won a single state championship, much less make an appearance in a championship game. Pathetic! No doubt this crybaby loser mentality infests the rest of Macon County. Maybe try a powder puff league for a start? That might be a more appropriate talent level for the Macon Co. Tutu-wearin' Tigers

  46. In the grand scope of things, it really doesn't matter other than having a trophy and being able to brag about it. It doesn't count for much when the next season starts and you have to defend it. Not many (if any) not named Oakland, Maryville or Alcoa can. As for the "mythical state championships" go ahead and throw them out of the record books. But throw them all out, including College. I've never seen a post on CoachT complaining about any other school's state championship voted in by the media. Only DB. And there is zero evidence that would show they wouldn't have won those championships in a playoff anyway. And another thing. It gets tiresome to hear people talk like all of DB's wins come against "much smaller schools". It used to be "smaller schools" now you say "much smaller schools". I remember when you used to say upper east tn couldn't compete with the rest of the state because we just didn't have the athletes. Then came Elizabethton and Greeneville. Now you've changed to upper east tn. 5A and 6A. If Science Hill, Boone, or DB ever go out and hire a good coaching staff you'll see that change also. It's always coaching. Everybody including me said DB would never win a championship in Basketball. They hired a good coach and you see what happened. ITS COACHING!
