Southtowner
I think we've all been witnesses to one of the best coaching runs in any sport at any level. Good luck Coach.
pepvol
GQ is one of the finest men I have ever known. I am very thankful for his influence in my family. He is one of the few high school coaches ready and capable of immediate success on the college level. I am excited to see what he does. That said, Derek Hunt is the right pick to replace him. Yes he is young, but there are few that know GQs offense better than him. Most importantly, Coach Hunt embodies the very same characteristics that Rebel fans have come to expect - character, honor and integrity. Blue Skies George! Exactly my thoughts . Coach Quarles , in my mind is the best High School Coach ever in TN .... and all the Championships have been awesome , but if I was offered a deal right now that we could keep George for another 20 years but we'd win no more championships .... I'd take that in a Heartbeat ! Knowing that George has had a big influence on a bunch of Boys from my School makes me very happy , he is a Much better man than he is a Coach . He has led by example and his Christian principles and Beliefs have been on full display in the good times and the Bad . I agree with Scotts50 in his opinion of Derek Hunt embodying the same Characteristics of Coach Quarles . Derek would be a fine choice and I'd be very Happy knowing that he was getting a chance to make a difference in a lot of young men's life . Maryville will still be there every year in the picture for more Championships ... Coach Quarles will be leaving Maryville in great shape , he's not been bottling up all his secrets and hiding them from his assistants ... REBELRON
Today I found out George Quarles is leaving Maryville High School for the OC job at Furman University, As a Maryville Rebel alumni and supporter I hate to see him go. He did a great job coaching at Maryville High School. 250-16 with 11 state titles and 4 runner up. He is a great coach. He is also a great person. He has been good to me and my family. I wish him the best of luck at Furman. I appreciate everything George did while he was at Maryville High School.

strongx
What about the husky guy who coached at ravenwood? Lots of great choices. At one time Stars had a list of top coaches in the county. Edited December 21, 2016 by strongx

SweetScience
Gonna be weird not seeing GQ patrolling the Maryville sidelines anymore. To me Quarles and Maryville are just synonymous with one another. Will be strange indeed. Best wishes to a great coach and even better dude.
