I wish you had visitor stands. Until then I will never leave your stadium wishing I had what y’all do. A fireworks show and empty trophy case.4 points

I'm just going to keep it 100, this is easily the worst Murphy team in 16 years talent wise. I hope given all the bluster and bravado in this thread from some that this is way below South Pitt's normal level because a standard Murphy team would absolutely drag the bunch I've saw tonight.4 points

Congrats to you guys on the win tonight. Line play was the difference and I had a feeling we would lose that battle. If we had been playing the last 15 years there would have been several good football games and probably a very good rivalry. Hope you guys have a safe trip back to NC and goodluck the rest of the season.3 points

I know it wasn't really South Pitt posters talking all that smack, so to you guys I say good game and good luck on the rest of your season. I wish these two could have played the last 15 years, probably some awesome games in there. As far as Basin goes they just need to thank their lucky stars that they don't play Murphy. Being totally honest they'd have about the same record as Andrews has against Murphy over the last 40 years (1 win) if they weren't too chickens#%! to play.2 points

Strongly disagree. While I agree the game was much closer than the final score indicated, you don't win by 4 scores getting outplayed...2 points

It’s Macon County. The closest they get to a gold ball in football is when they drive by our high school. This is their gold ball.2 points

Humility has never been anyone from Macon Counties strong suit. Then again like y’all said get ya while ya can! Unfortunately for you guys it’ll get worse before it gets better it seems.2 points

Y’all took us to the woodshed up front , plane and simple. USJ deserved to win and HC deserved to lose. Really great game plan.2 points

I would argue that they've always been way too much sizzle, and not enough steak. No pun intended...2 points

Let’s take off the Mavs colored glasses a little here. There are quite a few schools out there that have the same or better environment and definitely better winning tradition than AC (what have they ever won in football besides a region championship?). Show wise yes it’s definitely a show (sometimes in the favor of the visiting team) but I’m also not a flashy person who likes Fireworks2 points

That approach worked in basketball last year. DB played some really tough teams in tournaments during the season and it really made a difference come state tournament time. After the Buck Van Huss years every time I seen DB in the state tourney they looked shell shocked. This time around they looked right at home.2 points

Yeah. Farragut has been Oak Ridge's kryptonite at times. On a personal note, two of the guys whom I really respect in broadcasting, both of whom I consider mentors in the business will be broadcasting the game for different stations. David Clary for Oak Ridge, and Eric Gerhardt for Farragut. Both class acts and professionals in the booth2 points

This is No Way, Shape, or Form Blake's fault. Honestly, Creasy would struggle to win 3 or 4 games with this exact same team. There is a huge drop in talent from this year to last year's team. But we can't stand around and dwell on it. Conditioning, Weight Room Success, and Hard Practices is what makes a team tough. If you push a lot of athletes in today's society, they will just quit. That's the easy opt out mentality. Having a team start off with a low number to begin with and then even more quit when their backs are against the wall, simply can NOT be pinned on the coach. AND then a coach looks around and thinks, "maybe I should ease up a little so no one else quits!" Well then you are starring at an 0-3 team that needs to be pushed for better results, but if you do that you may only have 15 dressed out the next week. It's a slippery slope. Obviously the ones who have grudges against Blake and don't like him for personal reasons, will blame him. The ones that are on the outside looking in will be able to confirm and say, "Trousdale's talent isn't up to par and their numbers are extremely low this year!"2 points

I have no problem with new blood, but Maryville is what it is today because of all the “ Rebels for Life” over the last 50 years . Tradition and History goes a long way in sports. This game tonight is part of the tradition and history that have made Maryville and Alcoa 2 of the premier High school football powerhouses in the state of Tennessee. Without each team constantly pushing each other to higher levels of play neither Team would be what they are today. Looking forward to another episode of this Classic Rivalry tonight!2 points

Old Pirate says it is abundantly laughable how these mommies, daddies & players bring attention to their kids or themselves! NEWS FLASH, you look like what you are, individuals wanting attention. Ifin a player is bonafide, they don’t or won’t need the BS self promoting advertisement. Jasper continues to sink in the Self Promoted Pre-Season Hog Wash bout being contenders. History Repeats Itself round JJHS. Yep, Recon So.2 points

He was not born in Maryville, but was a student of the Maryville school system from 1st until he graduated. So you have to be a life long dyed in the wool from day 1 to be considered a Maryville kid? BTW ….. there are a couple of posters in this thread that haven’t a clue what they are talking about. Sometimes the information you get from the Hardee’s morning crew should be fact checked2 points

With your weak schedule your playing you don't want to see Springfield or Henry son! Beat Green Hill first and reclaim your county then we will talk...... Your in arguable the weakest region in 5A , Oakland use to whoop that tail and send you home every year 2018 - 2020 and now you get put in a weak region and cant even win it because of a school that's newer than your uniforms owning you. You don't want Springfield or Henry and honestly I don't see you guys ever making it far enough to get the chance. Go volunteer to help paint the field or work the concessions at JV games to help your program and be involved so you can stop trolling.2 points

People who do most of the talking are usually the ones who are trying to convince you that they know more than they do...just an observation, but to offer up a conspiracy theory blaming the "head man", only to find out that "he" is a lady...that's kind of hard to miss if you know squat.2 points

Sorry, I didn't see your post until now. Lehigh v Lake Gibson should be a good one. Belfry is a good example of what I was talking about. Phillip Haywood will play anyone anywhere from Northern KY to South Central KY to Ohio and West VA to prepare his team for a playoff run. They've also split a couple of games with Knox Catholic. I don't know if you remember, but old Jonesville high in VA won a state title after a 5-5 season with a tough schedule. They beat undefeated Strasburg for the title over at Bullitt Park. I was standing at the fence next to a couple of Strasburg fans who were talking about how the game was going to be a blowout. I told them that Jonesville was way better than their record, but they thought I was crazy. Three hours later, they left in stunned silence.1 point

Let’s face it, Farragut just has our number and has for 15+ years. It is what it is. We always choke when we play them, it never fails bud. Might as well call us ChokeRidge when we play Farragut.1 point

If we could do it wrong tonite we did! We gotta cut out mistakes, can't keep beating ourselves. Inspite of the game I still gave out a couple of shirts. These guys have had a good season so far and deserve a shirt # 3 and # 23. so tonite was a good time to give them one. WILDCAT PRIDE1 point

In other news we didn’t have a thread this week but the Cougars are traveling to North Cobb Christian today. Going against the number 4 center in the nation and 5 D1 recruits will be a tough challenge if everyone would say a quick prayer for this funeral I know the boys would appreciate that. I am sticking to my 42-14 prediction for this game give or take a score for both teams. South Pitt will be sounding like the Civil War with their cannon tonight and sadly I will be in Maryville tonight but best of luck and safe travels to all teams and my fellow posters.1 point

I’m going to say 21-14 Pirates. Hard fought game coming down to the 4th quarter pirates pull away late to get the win.1 point

38-6 Sequatchie over Jasper in middle school tonight. Jasper scored a late TD vs backups.1 point

With the weather forecast showing possible rain, I hope neither team has a lot of turnovers tomorrow. That could be the difference maker and not the refs.1 point

I completely agree with your assessment of how Clay has performed in the past. However, this year Gordonsville has to go to Celina to win the region, so technically Clay's road to Chattanooga can be entirely at home. I am very surprised that Gordonsville has struggled so badly to start the year. The Smith County game wasn't too surprising as the Owls were going to fired up looking to end their losing streak. However, I was shocked last night that Watertown handled them like that. Watertown looked down significantly from last year when they scrimmaged Clay in the preseason. It will be interesting to see if Clay can handle Cornersville at home in two weeks as easily as last year on the road, with both teams having new coaching staffs.1 point
