  1. One thing I don’t like is college football playing games on Friday night. That’s for high school football. Saturday is for college football.

  2. High school is on a different plane. Best reason is I know the kid's (most of) families...went to school with a bunch of grandparents, and the rest are neighbors, acquaintances, and just people I recognize from day to day activities. Nothing like having a personal interest in seeing the kids growing up from week to week, and year to year.

  3. If Oneida don't have a single kid who could start for York and they don't win state,It'll be a huge failure. We,ve not played a team this season that didn't have a kid who could start for us.

  4. Now we got some women on Facebook trying to stir up drama saying our student section was spitting on their color guard and the sparkle squad. None of which is true but still crazy. I'm sure words were exchanged from both sides but what do they expect having their people on the visiting sideline and stands. Recipe for a problem. You'd think with all the millions they spent on visual upgrades they would add more visitor seating or seating in the endzone for the band.

  5. I watch football at all three levels. I enjoy high school, college, and pro. But my favorite is by far high school football. Here’s why the high school game is tops for me: 1. It’s a community effort. We may differ about politics, religion, lifestyle, etc. but we all show up and support “our boys” on Friday nights. 2. No instant replays. The officials make their call and that’s the final word. 3. No commercials. Because of 2 and 3, games can be played in 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Occasionally one might go 3 hours, but there are no 3-1/2 to 4 hour games. 4. The players are not paid, at least in my community. 5. I can follow kids through Middle School to High School. It’s fun to watch them develop. 6. The divisions in the TSSAA mean that teams are generally on an equal footing. That’s my take, so I would be interested in what other folks think.

  6. 1. Henry Co. 6-1 W 45-13 over Portland 2. Dyersburg 7-0 W 30-0 over Westview 3. JCS 7-0 W 35-7 over FACS 4. Hardin Co. 7-0 W 35-3 over Chester Co. 5. Dresden 7-0 W 31-28 over Union City 6. Huntingdung 5-1 W 22-15 over Riverside 7. McKenzie 6-1 W 57-7 over Perry Co. 8. Munford 6-1 W 31-7 over Arlington 9. Haywood 6-1 W 50-12 over Trezevant 10. Riverside 5-2 L 22-15 to Stanks Outside Looking In: Covington 5-2, Milan 6-1, TCA 4-2, South Gibson 5-2, Crockett 5-2, Union City 4-3 Dyersburg and JCS with impressive wins this week. The Stanks move up after 3 big wins in a row. Moving ahead of the only team to beat them on the season as I feel if that game were played now the outcome would be different. Several really solid teams in West TN, but are these the best 10??

  7. I know it's hard to swallow a loss, but the ultimate goal for this season hasn't changed, and for what my opinion matters an early season loss to Huntingdon doesn't put you in a worse place than a win would have. Good competitive game between two of the favorites, and I think the Panthers could've played better/been healthier than they showed Friday night. From the radio broadcast (Huntingdon announcers), it sounded as if Riverside missed a couple of shots at scores and #25 wasn't 100%...might be different next time if both get there.

  8. These things happen at almost every game everywhere. It may be inside the stadium, at the concession stand, out in the parking lot or at the nearest fast-food joint. Fans are going to intermingle somewhere and somebody's gonna' say something. It could be all in fun or some kids just jawing. Most people ignore it. Sometimes they get in fights. Been that way for ever. It's not a DB or Betsy thang'. Just so happens somebody that post on CoachT saw something.

  9. It’s easy putting up with you Mav and it seems like your team is getting better and better every week.

  10. I don’t believe they could handle the passing attack of these two. I believe there would be multiple mismatches.

  11. I hate that that happened to you and your family but I promise you not all cyclones fans and are like that.

  12. I think we find our way to the stadium Friday night no matter what kind of tricks RBS can find We gonna stay undefeated all time in this series in a big way MERCY RULE! Go Tigers That’s all I have to say about that. See you Friday night

  13. I know LC beat Clinton last year. And LC has a better record (4-2) than Clinton this year, but I'm not so sure LC is the better team. Clinton has played a much tougher schedule and I feel like LC would have the same record Clinton has to this point if they had played the same teams. Now LC is probably the better coached team.I would agree with that. I think Clinton has enough talent to pull out the win Friday night, but if they lose, it's probably because they got out coached. Lol

  14. Since Huntingdung and JCS won’t play each other this season, all we can do is look at each team’s performance against like opponents. You think the Stanks and Dresden would be a great game between two similar team and I agree. However I think that JCS is a good bit better than both Dresden and the Stanks. Here is my reasoning. USJ beat Union City. Dresden struggled to beat Union City. JCS destroyed USJ. The last 2 weeks JCS has not just beaten undefeated teams, they have dismantled them. They have a receiver that will go to college pretty much wherever he wants. May be the best player in West TN. Nobody has even come close to stopping him so far. I don’t think Huntingdung could either. Now I fully admit I could be wrong. Huntingdung has beaten 3 really good teams the last 3 weeks. Hats off to them.

  16. Fair enough. Cyclone fans are passionate as can be. Some just show it in the wrong ways. Like u said, there's some in every fan base

  17. Admittedly, that is hard for me to do. I'm also OCD on terminology. With that being said, I basically agree with chargerfan. I have not watched one down of NFL or college football this weekend. I have watched 4 full or partial high school broadcasts and am currently working on some statistical research to help out an area sports writer. Have also edited and posted video clips from 2 different games this week. Have also written an editorial piece on high school football playoff formats for a publication in my home state of Indiana. Despite enjoying stirring the pot from time to time, I'm all about high school football and high school sports in general

  18. You know there’s talent in the area when teams the caliber of Covington and Milan are on the outside looking in. Not saying they should be higher as I don’t know who you would bump. BTW, go Trojans!

  22. Anytime you force the two sides together you are asking for trouble. Kind of like Anderson County can afford a Jumbotron and excessive firework entrances but no visitor stands. But “who has it better”……..

  23. Go Pirates! Great win on Friday. Just my take but if this team gains some consistency on offense they will be hard to handle. Last year was all pass. This year is almost all run. Find some middle ground and it could be great year.

  24. That's the trouble playing a 1a schedule. Not enough tough games to season you!

  25. I think if the O line was a little better you guys would be hard to stop on offense.

  26. Central doesn’t lose again unless it’s to Kingston.

  27. A much cleaner game with Central. We looked much sharper than the past several weeks. That trend will need to continue against Farragut. Honestly, I would just like to see us not repeat our performances from the past 5 years. Next 2 weeks are big measuring stick games as we wind down the regular season.

  28. Always love your topic starting. Hopefully both get through this injury free, I know we have already had our share. Neither need any of that this point in the season. We’ve done a good job at cleaning up our early season mistakes. We will see how that goes Vs another top team in 1A. GBR!!

  30. Look in the mirror cause all you do is put your head coach down along with the team every time. Stupid is a mean word

  32. He is a bum with a smartphone that only wants to run down a team full of kids. Nothing more.

  33. In fairness to Turt, I’d be A LOT BUTT HURT too if I had to sit through that nightmare every Friday night with the combo of beating drums for 2 1/2 hours. At least Alcoa has helped him out with the running clock!

  34. More excuses. They hired him. The community ruined a season for the kids. I’d rather have a mean coach & not a bunch of entitled cry baby buddy ball boosters who will ruin a season so their boy can be QB. They opened that child to unnecessary hate he didn’t ask for. The boy threw 4 Ints last night. He wasn’t ready. Lil Slover was the better QB. Don’t admit. It’s ok

  37. Clinton will not win anything that matters much until the coaching staff is gone. I am both a Dragon and Mav fan. Clinton clearly had more talent on the field against AC, but cannot do anything with it. Hope Keith is Oaky, but didn’t look good.

  38. I’m sorry but when your feeder program produces the teams that Greenback’s has there is no reason for us to be this bad except 1 Coaching 2 coaching 3 kids not doing what is told to them by coaches 4 which 3 falls back to coaching Now with this being said everyone is going to say well they don’t have anyone to put in. I’m sorry but if I’m gonna lose I’m gonna lose with kids that are playing hard.

  39. What’s does any of that have to do with a seasonal award?

  40. the fact that you came on here to share this opinion only cements for me that you are a part of the problem and that the admin of the school have fostered a toxic environment. The AD's quotes reaffirm that. Good luck finding a coach worth his salt.

  41. Here is the problem I see and this is not a shot at Sweetwater but goes for any program. You hire a coach to lead your program so let him lead your program. (I don't care who the man plays or if someone else that the admin or fans think is better) If he runs it into the ground in one year then fire his tail but don't suspend a coach in the middle of a season because he wasn't playing the Admin or Fans favorite of who they think should be the QB. You are going to have no head coach wanting to coach at a program that has done what Sweetwater has just done. Administration is for hiring and not Coaching, Fans are for enjoyment of the game and cheering on the team not coaching. The head football coach is who gets to decide who starts and who doesn't, it's as simple as that.
