  3. Blake Satterfield is new coach, Paul Pitts will join staff and likely be OC/Co-OC, and I would fully expect Dyer to stay on staff to be the DC. Good hire I know people "don't want a puppet" but Blake won't be a puppet he wants to make a name for himself, and we should be pretty confident that he will be around for awhile. Love the hire and GO JACKETS!

  4. If I'm willing to leave my job, I've already told my boss that I'm going for another interview in case they call him/her to see what type of employee I am. Most of the time, the reason for leaving is a better opportunity or higher pay. Sometimes if back-fires and they let you walk. BUT sometimes they offer you more money to stay. I have no problem with them announcing the candidates. Whether it is one of mine or not. I think some are just butt hurt because they know their "faithfuls" or "best coach" applied for the TC job and it is publicly known now.

  7. DUDE! If you're going to throw stones for a group of posters' spelling or grammar, you need to make sure yours is on point, which it is not! Superitendent should be spelled "superintendent." To should be "too." Fore mentioned is "aforementioned." It's "row to plow." Never seen a roll get plowed. Come on, man! This is why snoball keeps warning you that you're drowning, but you keep saying you like to swim. You are surrounded by sharks!

  9. Well that isn't me. I don't root for other teams vs Upperman. I like watching them play. I go to several of their games each year. And I have watched them play in the finals the past two seasons. I actually like alot of the players on that team. There is no way we beat them the last 2 seasons. This year they are vulnerable but very talented. About the scores, 9pts was close to double digits. I was guessing on the score. I don't remember either one being a close game. You made me go look at the other one too. It was 22 pts @ Warren. So I guess I missed both. We did get beat by Sparta by 19 pts in the shootout and I gave them props then. We then beat them twice in a row. We can compare losses but that really doesn't prove anything. For example we beat a Lebanon team by 23 who lost to RIVERDALE by 3 at Riverdale. Does that mean we could beat Riverdale by 20? No. I am realistic. I have seen WC play in person 5-6 times this year and I have watched several games on Hudl. I feel that we have better players at most positions and a MUCH deeper bench. If we play like we did at the Sparta shootout then yeah they beat us. If we play like we did at EITHER of the other two games then we win by double digits. I am not saying that because I am from Cookeville. That is because I have seen both teams play numerous times. I have also seen Cookeville beat Dickson County, Blackman (weekend before first game), Oakland, Cleveland (twice), Station Camp, Lebanon, etc. The schedules are not even close. Like I said previously..Friday night.....the basketball don't lie. If they beat us I will be the first one on here to compliment them. I doubt others will do the same.

  17. KC, You obviously don't know Blake! Yes he is a Satterfield, but he ain't no puppet! Growing up he was the one that went against the grain in the Satterfield household so I don't expect that to change. Doubt Lawrence was ever involved. Probably just a rumor to get chat up. Congrats to BSatt! Glad to see a True Yellow Jacket back in the lead. I know he will do great!

  18. “Anyone know the cost associated with the event being at Bridgestone, Municipal Auditorium......... any other venue, any other city?” when i looked into this 4 or 5 years ago its was 35k+ CBG you are exactly correct . I’ve been to State tournaments in OH, GA, PA, CO, and IN. I’ve also seen the facilities in at least 20 other states. The only thing that’s even close to TN (in a bad way). Is KY. We are currently in the bottom 5% and it isn’t even close. I guess someone has to be last. I do need to say the quality of wresting in TN is trending up. Too bad we don’t have an appropriate facility to showcase it.

  22. Not being political ?? Seen your earlier post about the president. Your were insinuating he was a racist and the poster. Let's call it for what it is. So you support the party of death. Killing babies that have been born at 9 months. UNBELIEVABLE! If you support this party you have no conscience and that tells me what kind of person you are. Why don't you do some research on Margaret Sanger and how this was Hillary Clinton's idol? Sorry to all the other posters. Didn't mean to get into a rant about politics but I want everyone to be aware of what's happening to our country. Killing babies that are born alive, is pure evil... So anyone who wants to bash this President who is wanting to protect them should be called out. PERIOD!

  26. Tennessee Football........ Pros Top Tier teams can COMPETE with others across the south region. Great Coaches across the State. High talent level all over West/ Middle/ East TN (in this order) Small communities that CARE about their School/ Community! Great Area to live, coach, and rise a family (have all 4 seasons) Cons Pay Scale low (Except private/city schools) Expectations are very low in most county's Hearing Processes (to much of what have you done or who you know) "Take Chances on 1st year Guys" Water down (Playoffs and Districts) Not enough funding for Football to be a priority at most places TSSAA whole system with other sports makes no sense Programs that should be top tiers are Mediocrity (Year in Year Out) Tons of Pros and Cons to add. However, other states in the south (Georgia) do things right. School Systems care about sports. Because we can all agree on, football drives a program. It can be good or bad! Depending on who is in the leadership roles.

  32. Yea I agree! It has been a lot of talking going on in Jackson. North Side this North Side that, their fans been running off at the mouth. First meeting we beat them by 50, 2nd meeting we only won by 16-18 but we cleared the bench after the first quarter. They actually thought that they was in the game lol. Starters only played the first quarter, and had a 26-30 point lead. Coach then took starters out of course, then the 2nd, 3rd and whoever else was on the bench played lol. Our coach wasn’t happy at all but it was no reason to play starters, we won the district by a few games. So no need to risk anybody getting hurt in a meaningless game. But this game tomorrow is personal, our coach will keep his foot on the petal tomorrow. I say South Side win by at least 50!

  33. Texas is apples and oranges compared to TN. They have 4 times the people and football is considered a religion there among communities in those Texas towns. It's always been more popular there than it ever has been in Tennessee. Texas has 6 classes, with the bottom 5 divided into 2 divisions each so it's really an 11 class system. This encourages competitiveness and even matchups, but Tennessee doesn't have enough football schools to do that. The top classification starts at over 2100 and the biggest schools have over 3,000 kids. Tennessee only has like a few schools that size. At those schools, it's normal to pay the head coaches over $100k a year just to coach and run a weightlifting class. Maryville or Dobyns-Bennett would be considered a 5A school in Texas. I've talked to Texas coaches whose entire staffs were given paid substitutes for SPRING football, so the coaches could concentrate on that. The big time schools there play in stadiums that would outshine some in major college football. You have nothing like that in Tennessee. The feeder systems there start at age 5 with everything from Pee Wee flag football through Middle School under the direction and control of the varsity head football coach. Kids practice football year-round and summer 7 on 7 leagues are a huge deal there and have been for years. They're relatively new to Tennessee. The smallest class in Texas plays 6 man football, which helps them field teams with low numbers. I think 6 man would be great for 1A schools in Tennessee but everybody here thinks that's crazy talk. In 2012, Tennessee made a deal with the Federal Government to double down on standardized test scores. Our schools have become test factories now and this has pushed athletics out in many places. Pep rallies have become non-existent or extremely limited in most places. Same goes for weight lifting classes, athletic periods, hiring or retaining teachers who coach sports, etc. A lot of principals are now hostile to athletics because they feel it takes attention away from test scores. After 6+ years of this, you can really see how that has eroded HS athletics statewide, especially in football. Texas never bought into that crap. As far as the calibre of football... a lot of what you see is the product of the stuff mentioned above, but I think your buddy was also falling into usual Texas BS. Texas HS football is different. It's almost all spread out there and has been for 20 years. That doesn't make it necessarily better, though. Greeneville plays "Texas-style" football, but Oakland and Maryville would have hung with the other schools their size playing a different style. Texans often overrate how good everything is about Texas because they want to turn everything into some kind of p!$$ing contest.

They have also worked extremely hard to help get us to where we were this year. We had to wrestle a perfect match to beat Science Hill as they are a great team and have a ton of studs and great wrestlers. Best of Luck to everyone this weekend.

  37. D1 tourney starts tonight! I will take THS in a mild upset of Volunteer. This is the best part of the year. I hope all the teams put forth great effort. My upset for the tourney is Boone over SH. If SH does get by Boone and makes the finals though, they will win the tournament. DB really has been struggling shooting the ball. They will need more kids to knock down shots and help lighten the load for Courtney. I would worry she will try and do too much which might end of hurting them.

He implied that several of his sons teammates had faked injuries so they wpuldnt have to play in the Maryville game. I tild him you can't get mad at the kids when the adults are running from competition from a smaller school in their own county. These kids all know each other, they all use Twitter, etc. Kids know what the adults are doing.
