  1. Dearest Mother- Your youngest son, who is of sound mind and strong body, has once again taken up his quill to put ink to paper about the latest of our campaigns. First, I must apologize Sweet Mother of mine, for it has been a fortnight and a half since my recent letter. For we have had no campaigns to speak of since before Autumn. But rest assured Captain Victory has had our full attention. He hath sent me forth on an important mission towards the Tiger Town of Decatur. The camp of the Tigers is positioned in the Goodfield Valley, west of No Pone Ridge, about 50 miles northeast of the Scenic City. I have been here before when I witnessed the Tiger men wear down and defeat The Tribe of Many Nations a season ago. The Tiger men are led by none other than the greatest Tiger of all, Tiger King Fitz. His ferocious fire breathing reputation precedes him. He has been known to consume everyone and anyone that enters his domain and tries to tame his Tigers. And, he has had a whole fortnight to prepare his Tiger men for their impending date with destiny against Captain Victory and his Band of Pirates. Captain Victory and Tiger King Fitz have battled before. Last season ago, the battle was waged at The Beene and what a tremendous battle it was. A battle so fierce that those from the Jasper Village that witnessed or heard about it tucked tail and ran into the Fiery Gizzard and have refused to come out. This time Captain Victory has returned the favor. For he is a man of his word. He has returned the favor to the Tiger King and will battle him upon his own territory. Some others could learn a valuable lesson from Captain Victory. Those hiding out with Chief RunAndHides know who you are and others do as well. When it's your turn to battle, whether it's 80 klicks into hostile Tiger territory, or just 8 hateful miles away, you take up your battle flag and either defend your ground or march into enemy lands . So, we march on. Rather we sail on. Yes, Captain Victory and his Band of Pirates are sailing up the Tanasi as I write and will anchor in the Chickamauga Lake. Soon the ground shall shake and tremor from the Mighty Pirates as they disembark from their Pirate Ship and run headlong into the Goodfield Valley. Soon the No Pone Ridge shall quake as it never has before. Soon folks will witness a battle never seen in these parts. If you're squeamish like Chief RunAndHides, you best turn away. Yes turn away and spare yourself for what is to come. For this is no place for cowardly men. No, place at all. For here there is honor to those that battle. For here there is glory for those that stand tall and answer the Call of Duty. And when the dust settles upon this land the brave shall go forth and the cowardly will most assuredly shrivel away. Therefore it is a choice. Yes it's a choice that one must make for themselves. So I choose to be brave. I choose to seek and find honor and glory upon every battlefield and against any enemy that comes forth. Yes, I shall seek and find these treasures. And I shall give all the honor and glory to the Good Lord above. Love to all- Sgt Southtowner

  2. Captain Victory outcoached again. LOL. Pirates have 10x the talent and still get beat. Several coaches in the state would have taken that talent to state the last several years.

  3. I was giving my opinion on who I thought would meet in the qtr. finals. DC and MC should meet in the 2nd round. The winner of that game, god willing, will more than likely face tullahoma in the qtrs. IF Tullahoma is fortunate enough to make it to that game. You talk about everyone returning from that team. Yes I agree, DC has a heck of a QB and some WR’s, but they did graduate a key lineman on both sides of the ball from that team. Tullahoma returns everyone who played in that game against DC, but they added a more mobile QB, a transfer RB and a DT that missed most of the season due to injury in the MC game Last year. Tullahoma starts 9 juniors and 2 seniors on offense and 6 juniors and 5 seniors on defense. They only have 1 player that starts on both sides of the ball. Yes, DC got hot at the right time and beat Tullahoma and MC, but that was last year. Each year is its own animal. I still stand by my prediction because I have seen both of those teams THIS year. Let’s just hope all of these teams get through the season without injury and they all stay away from contact tracing. Especially come playoff time and we will see how it all shakes out.

  4. Thanks - but no thanks. I’ve seen enough Maryville vs West games. Oh wait this is the IFL so yeah - Maryville is lucky that they are ducking us up in 6A. Why don’t they play some real competition down in 5A? But seriously - stay in 6A please.

  6. I'm just saying you would probably have a few more balls in the halls from the last few years if you had someone different.

  8. Dude I think you are in love with Vic every time anyone says anything about him you jump on here defending him like his 18 year old sister when he was 9. He was outcoached just like he has been with superior talent the last several years. Find another coaches jock to sniff and pick South Pitt to win it for the next 10 years you are likely to strike Gold at least once.

  12. You literally think DC has the best wr crew you have every seen is why I said you need to get out and watch more football that's not middle tn 4a football. When was the last time a middle tn team won it all in 4a? The Joke to you is in fact you weren't good enough to play against the team from Quad 1 since Nolensville put you out 42-6 before you could make it there and they got handled by Elizabethton 34-12 the next week. You bring up your losses this year against 1 a team that would't play in a conference since they were getting killed in 6a and a good 2a school but not even close to being on the same level as the top programs in 4a. I do think that DC doesn't want to see whoever is coming out of Quad 1 (Mosty Likely Betsy) if you make it there you will see a difference when it comes to controlling a line of scrimmage and who has played who through out the year. Marshall County has been there Nolensville has been there and can tell you first hand the difference.

  13. D wins State Championships just FYI and dominating the line of scrimmage. DC lost to Warren Co, Watertown, and Upperman last year also. When you ran into a good D team last year in Nolensville it was not pretty. Make it to the Semi's to play a team from Quad 1 and compete then you will be able to talk about winning state

  14. Henry County is nowhere near being bumped to 6A. Our numbers are actually down. So no, 50 kids would not make a difference either way. We’re just above the middle of the pack when it comes to 5A numbers. As for the Williamson Co region comment, if Clarksville were to add one more 5A school, they would probably make a Clarksville only region. Which would actually probably move us and DC to the Memphis area for Region play. Unless several of said schools were moved to 6A, and there were a need for us to be there. Either way, we’ll go wherever they tell us to and compete. We don’t have to schedule Beech, Haywood, Brentwood, Germantown, Gallatin, etc ya know? We do so, because we’ll play anyone/anywhere. We’ll compete just fine in whatever region we end up in. I’ll also say, the next two years you better hope your team, whomever that is, doesn’t schedule us because it’s going to be pretty special in Patriot Nation for a while. GBR

  19. Central was up 7-6 late in the 3rd, faced a 4th and 5 at the Carter 26. QB throws a perfect ball that is high-pointed and caught by the WR along the sideline at 1 yard line, but the defensive back makes an incredible play and immediately punches the ball out as the WR lands (falling across the goal line). Official rules that it was a catch (and a TD), but it looked like an incompletion in real time (and after seeing the replay). The official even flagged the defensive back for unsportsmanlike conduct after he ruled it a TD. After the PAT, the Carter HC goes ballistic on the referee. I can't believe he didn't get tossed for his reaction. Check it out on Diamondclearmedia.com (1:41:44 mark). It was a bang-bang play, but it certainly didn't look like a catch. Kudos to Central though, their defense played extremely well. Outside of Fortner in the wildcat, they just don't have much on offense right now.

  20. #3 that made the outstanding catch and a long run in the 3rd quarter should have been utilized more.

  25. Think about this. If a school quarantines thru contact tracing based on being in class with a positive, imagine how many kids/student athletes could be affected by one positive individual considering changing classes and having different students in a lot of classes. 80 quarantined students could be due to as few as one or two positive individuals due to contacts tracing. Schools don’t have time to view cameras and may not have cameras in every class to confirm who has been within 6ft for 10 minutes or longer. My nephew has been quarantined twice already for 14 days each time because he was in the same class as a positive case. To his knowledge he has not contracted Covid himself. Not all schools are contact tracing the same way. Some are overly conservative where others may be not so much. This is like playing Russian Roulette or pin the tail on the donkey. Kids who were truly exposed (in the halls, after school, etc) slip thru cracks while kids who were truly not exposed continue getting quarantined. On Friday nights you have a lot of players out who probably don’t need to be and some players playing, who have Covid, and don’t realize it and probably shouldn’t be playing.

  26. All the mistakes we had made is not the reason we are losing. Getting our A** whipped at line of scrimmage is.

  27. First half impressions.... South severely one dimensional and way overrated and Gville has an inexperienced qb with some play makers on the outside and of course the speed demon in the backfield. The only problem I see with either of these teams is Betsy will absolutely destroy the line of scrimmage.

  31. Logical point Waterman. My position has been if it’s safe enough to have the kids blocking and tackling each other it’s safe enough to let the fans into an open air stadium. You may disagree with me, but I try to be consistent in my dogma lol.

  33. There is no reason to beat a team by that much. They should have put the middle schoolers in and told him to lie down and count sheep! (sarcasm of course. im in agreement with you)

  34. Dont worry if Covid dont kill us all next year we play lol.

  35. Idk. I've seen where central is down this year with a new coach that isnt working out. This from some of their own people and they went on to say basically the unhappy kids would just transfer out . must be nice. Keep and eye open for HC over the next 2 years. We have a few undefeated middle school classes coming up and the #1 ranked QB for the class of 2023. Our sophomore RB is a complete stud and carries himself like hes the best on the field. If HC doesnt go to state at least once in the next 2 years maybe not counting this year. But we have a chance this year dont count us out.

  36. Dude get out and watch more football in the state of TN. There is no such thing as a middle school state championship just FYI (They have Region Championships in Middle School since the entire state doesn't play against each other). Have you seen any other wr crews in the last 5 years or just going off of what you have seen with who DC has played? Greeneville WR core in 2018 had 3 starting Wr that signed D1 scholarships with UVA,Wake Forest, and UT. We have played Marshall County in the past and wouldn't classify them as dirty and a well respected program. Get out and watch more football because what you're opinion is not truth. Like I said again make it to the Semi's and face a team out of Quad 1 and you will see the difference

  37. What does that have to do with anything in my post?

  38. Three phases to the game: Offense: really these offenses are pretty even. West clearly the better running team. Powell perhaps the better passing team. Defense: Powell is solid, but West is dominant. I don't know the stats, but the sacks, pressures, and Int's all go hand in hand. In spite of a clear size disadvantage west ate powell's lunch on defense. Special teams: Probably goes to west. Even with two notable errors on special teams, the difference in field position time after time put Powell with so much more work to do. that punt toward the end of the game led directly to the pick-six. Great game. Glad we saw it. Be interesting to see if we can see it again.

  39. Believe you missed the point. I had praise for the kid, but this is not his ceiling and as QB1 you're constantly learning on the little things. Is the best in 5A, could be, he is in the conversation...but he's a transfer so how would he do at Farragut? Same, not likely. He has tremendous field vision and steps up in the pocket better than most.... but this was the learning opportunity and part you missed. "Kid can play and see the field better than most but the play at the goal line play was a humbling moment." Forced a play and ended up being the nail in the coffin. I love watching him play.

  45. I'm not at this game but I know what you are saying because I've seen it in other games. We're kinda young, probably a little rusty and as much as the boys have been thru were playing were not playing, o were gonna play two games this week to no games lol. I live football and it's been hard for me to stay pumped about the season so I'm sure it has a small effect on the team as well. And like Vandy said I hope 20 is OK because we definitely need him.

  46. Agree 100%. We have guys that can step in and produce but it will be tough. Competition for starting roles is tough here. The guys that will fill in can play too. Next man up. I'm with you on using this game as a measuring stick with everyone playing. I'm just glad region play is complete and playoff situation is settled for us. We have 3 games left that only matter for record so keep everyone healthy and available to play for the second season.

  47. Warren Co. has had their fair share of lean years, since city and county schools consolidated in 1969. The state championship has also been elusive, since McMinnville High School won it in 1928. The best records since consolidation are: 1983 - 10-2, lost in quarterfinals to Chattanooga McCallie. Only regular season loss was to state champion Germantown. 1980 - 11-2, lost in semi-finals to state champion Oak Ridge. 1973 - 10-1, lost in quarterfinals to state champion Baylor. Only undefeated regular season. Pioneer fans are some of the most loyal in the state. The 2020 team has already brought much excitement to Warren County in their first 5 games. Best of luck the rest of the season to the Pioneers!
