  1. I believe that was Blueprint's point. Teams are beatable. Whether they are 1A or 2A. Again, there are several in each class (1A/2A) that have a shot. I don't think there is a "glaring" favorite in either class.

  2. Well, since there aren't any mountains between here and Cleveland, I disagree. All of the best movies start out with everything going good, then disaster strikes, and then the champion gets up off the mat. I'm hoping for a Hollywood ending.

  3. Moore Co has had 4 Mr. Footballs...Todd Logan, Jeff Norman, Wayne Finchum, and Brandon Wells. I apologize if I'm forgetting one but I believe that's it. As talented as these young men were it didn't lead to a state title (2 on the list did play for one). If White wins Mr. Football, that's awesome and well deserved BUT if he helps this team, this school, this county win the big one... he'll go down in MC folklore. Many on this thread realize how much football means to these little communities. They could build a statue of him outside the stadium and without the Mr. Football trophy, I think the young man would be ecstatic about winning the team goal. He'll be hard to forget no matter what but I like his chances with the award that HE can control. He can't control the voters and ultimately I hope he gets every award he can, but that elusive state title will be all White needs to cement his place as the best!

  6. Underachieved? Man, every school not named Alcoa or South Pittsburgh would love to underachieve like the Huntingdon Mustangs have over the last 8 or 9 years. Does the Mustangs expect to play in a State Championship every season, yes. That’s what they expect here. I get tired of people saying they can’t win in the playoffs. Here is who put Huntingdon out of the playoffs the last 9 years: 14-15 Peabody- Won State Championship 15-16 NCS- Won State Championship 16-17 NCS- Won by 1 point 17-18 Cornersville- beat Huntingdon in 2 OT-1 point-Lost State Championship 18-19 Cornersville- beat Huntingdon by 1 TD- Lost State Championship by 1 point 19-20 Lake Co- Won State Championship 20-21- Moore Co 21-22 MAHS- beat Huntingdon by 1 point 22-23 Riverside- Lost State Championship so in 6 of the last 9 years Huntingdon lost to teams that played in the State Championship game. Not too bad I’d say.

  7. Images, I agree that So.Pitt is as good as any team from the west. I also think that the Pirates have a slight advantage in the Title game do to the west teams having to run the gauntlet in the playoffs. The Pirates I seriously doubt are challenged until the title game.

  9. UC by as many as they want. I still say UC is a legitimate state title threat.

  10. First glance I see this; Upperman has played 1 6A, 4 4A and 2 2A teams. Averaging 25 points for and 8 points against. Combined record White House has played 1 5A, 5 4A and 1 3A teams. Averaging 19.57 points for and 16.42 points against. Conclusion? The team with the most points will win! You’re Welcome!!

  12. I think much of it is the emphasis put on football here. But, from what I could tell, that didn't happen until Coach Ford came back to Gville. Now, when he came back, we had some real football players. From the late 70s to the late 80s, we had some tuff ones. i think a tradition of toughness was started then that a lot of teams don't have. however, we're not as tough as we used to be, but then again, I don't believe anybody is.

  13. I promise you knowing Dawson White he could care less about winning the Mr Football Award and being a State Champion would be more rewarding for him…. He would tell you it would be good but he’d rather WIN a State Championship….. If ya are good enough and Mullins is good enough then maybe MC might meet up in the Semifinals…..GO RAIDERS!!!

  15. I’m sure a lot didn’t think Meigs would be one the better 3A teams in the state, considering losing the head coach and moving up a class, and being one of the smartest 3A schools.

  17. It should definitely be a very fun game, 6-1 vs. 5-2 last year. Obviously, we won, and it was a big staple in the program, especially with Coach Jones and what he can do on the field. It’s a non-district game. Hopefully neither team gets hit with an injury bug. And then next week we obviously have Morristown-Hamblen West, which you know, they have a football team, and then obviously the big game, Bradley Central, so hopefully there’s no injuries and both teams can roll into playoff time better than ever.

  19. We will host quarterfinals this year. Odd year (2023) top bracket will host. Winner of our quad (region 3, 4) will have to travel to upper bracket (region 1,2) for the semifinal. Next year is an even year. (2024). Bottom brackets will host. Throw out the seeds after the 1st 2 rounds. Quarters & Semis rotate on an odd/even year. When/if 2 teams meet in the quarters from the same region, then the highest seed will host.

  20. I was looking at the history of Metro Football Coaches on another site and I don’t think I’ve found one who won 200 games. Coach Tony Brunetti’s mark currently stands at 164-64 as Pearl-Cohn’s coach. His first year as an educator was the 1997-1998 school year at Cheatham County. That means he has the rest of this season and then 3 more years to get his 30 years through the state. I think he has a great shot at winning 200 games for his career. Coaches like Nick Coutras, Wes Elrod, Jerry Pigue, Herschel Moore, Maurice Fitzgerald, and Ron Aydelott come to mind right away. I don’t believe any of them won 200+ games in their legendary careers. Coach Brunetti has taken Pearl-Cohn to the State Championship Game on 3 occasions. He has yet to win a Gold Ball. If that changes and he both wins 200+ games and wins a State Championship then you could put him on the Mt. Rushmore of All-Time Metro-Nashville Football Coaches.

  27. Can't speak for all Oakland fans, but my father started taking me to Oakland games when we were pretty bad, getting our teeth kicked in by Riverdale on a annual basis. I didn't see a Oakland team in a playoff game until my 8th season as a fan , so that can humble you a little bit. I hope Oakland's dominance lasts for a long time but as we've seen with Riverdale and Maryville, no dynasty lasts forever

  31. The one thing about it there is always life off the field that brings all of us to the Coach T Forum in disbelief, Did I hear that right or Did they really do that. The first big story was the hiring that broke the town of Greenback apart that went on until the Lenior City baby sitter stole the show and now the crazy football parents from Sweetwater have been holding the billboard chart for number one position for three weeks now and holding steady. Take it from Barney something out there is just saying here hold my beer they ain't seen nothing yet coming around the corner so don't be surprised when it happens.
