  1. If any of you remember Kyle James one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of this area and a proud Soddy Daisy boy, he lost everything when his house burnt down Saturday night when all of us were celebrating the end of the State duals and championships for any of the teams we cheer for. You can go onto Alexy Winesburgh page on Facebook and find out how to help! Kyle's family has been friends of me and my dad's for many years(my dad and his dad before I was ever born) and if not for some medical issues I have a feeling he would have been an Olympic qualifier as he was working out of Colorado for a few years after high school getting ready to compete! Alexy said venmo is @ulric-winesburgh last four digits are 0797. Thanks guys!

  2. This thread is a dumpster fire. Cleveland has more money than any other public program, youth and/or high school - YES. “Our donation to Higher Calling along with the club’s own fundraising efforts, make it the highest funded kids club in the county,” said Mr. Jones It has helped them retain high level coaching which is some of the best in the country - YES This combination is the reason people are attracted to the program. They've built one of the best wrestling cultures we've ever seen. Those coaches work tirelessly and its quite impressive. So moving on....Can we just get a 5-10 year contract to have Cleveland/McCallie wrestle each January?

  3. From what I understand West don’t travel East and vice versa. If I have to travel 5-6 hours for a tournament I’m driving a couple more hours to a tournament like Tulsa, Indy Nationals, bigger tournaments.

  4. These are not $s paid to these kids--it is a projected annual valuation from ON3. I promise you, the kids are not seeing this type of money in high school. I know a few of them - and they are not getting the ON3 valuation dollars while they are in high school. The ON3 Valuation is a projection of annual value based on the kid's + Performance + Influence + Exposure + Deal Data Deal Data is only one of four-- and it is the least important. In colleges, about 85% (average estimate) of the NIL money actually paid is coming from collectives--not actual endorsements. When collectives come to high schools, that is when you should begin to get concerned.

  6. Terrible. And thanks for the heads up. Don’t know him but would love to help.

  7. There are schools in the Knoxville area that already have established collectives.

  9. We were at CBHS duals during the top 100 in Memphis. Didn’t look like a very big turn out. Almost like a local tournament.

  10. I agree 100% for Nashville. The Memphis top 100 needs to go away. Same kids from east Tn and Nashville area. Doesn’t add anymore wrestlers going to Memphis. Crime rate is not worth it out there. To many break ins and stolen vehicles. Will not be going back. Move it to Nashville instead

  11. He’s a football guy that loves to have mercy rule in his post. Don’t think he’s from Cleveland. You are wasting your time bc he is just killing time in the offseason.

  12. Dual championship , 2013. Cleveland 78, Wilson Central 4. Also, by forfeiting out the Halls team, that was mercy.

  14. Good win for warriorettes last night . Foul shooting was awful . If i had Upperman speed , would play fast pace . Can't remember last time we were district champions . District tourney will be tough , all teams can win .

  15. Yes, largest in state. I appreciate your response. It definitely gives a nod of confidence hearing stories of guys who have worked with him in the past. My concerns and opinion are based off nothing more than a non-biased eye test and resume test. That's it. I want DCA to win games. Period. If JP proves to be the guy that can do that, awesome. Like vol9093 said, only time will tell. My posts have detailed my concerns of him not having the pre-requisite success or experience of other candidates at the same level or at an independent school. I don't know how critical that is and why people are upset at that? Just because I have doubts of a candidate doesn't mean I want the program to fail. It's quite the opposite. I"m tired of commenting on this thread, but I will close my thoughts with wishing JP the best of luck. Let's go win some more gold balls.

  16. Top 100 and TNAAU has grown so much that most schools arent able to host a top 100, even if the school is able to handle it they dont just let anyone host those. They are in the same locations every year, and we only have 3 top 100s.

  17. Point 1 Valid Point 2 Yes, had players for sure Point 3 Time will tell but understand your concern. I will say this, Ensworth, BA, etc. would raid the roster every year. They have a bus that comes to RuCo to get the kids and take them to school. CJP has probably learned a thing or two about how that process works and can do the same thing. Your administration needs to be on board though. Point 4- My understanding is that Pierce was asked to be on Hartfield, Tygard, and Kriesky's staff as an Offensive coach but he turned down the offers because he liked having control of his own team and there would be a drop in pay. My advice is that wait and see how he does. I see the cause for concern but I think you'll be pleased with how things turn out

  20. These days they're only tough to come across in the Nashville area. Not so much for Knoxville area ( kinda deserving), Chattanooga area ( very deserving) or Memphis.

  24. you too Freco, good luck to Cleveland this weekend and good luck to your son in the future and from the bottom of my heart I do not hold a grudge against Cleveland, HCWC or anything like that and I will also say, I have always been happy when a team from this area brings home a state title instead of it being a team from upper east TN, Nashville or Memphis, I have a lot of pride in the Chattanooga area being the hot bed of wrestling in TN and I also know that Soddy is just now hitting their stride and I'm proud of what Ulric and Shane and the other coaches have accomplished and very excited to see what the future holds! Again if Boyd could have brought home the title Chatt area would have went 5 for 5 in state titles this season!

  26. Agreed! That’s their only shot. WC is long and athletic. Should be a great district and region tournament. WC the favorite to win both imo!

  29. It was in no way a slight to the coaches at Cookeville high school. Coach Hurd and his staff do an amazing job. You make a lot of really good points and they are spot on in my estimation. I think if Cookeville had an inside presence they could compete with anybody in the state. Cobb is a generational type of player. He makes everyone around him better as I’m sure you know. That is where my argument for a legit shot at winning a state title came from. Upperman is loaded with talent I would say just as much talent after this year as Cookeville will have. And you add a smaller classification to the mix and it’s an easier road in my opinion.

  30. It’s is Union City’s to win as long as they don’t get comfortable and they continue to play lights out like they have all year. Their region is weak which has allowed brooks to be able to facilitate plays for other players and give himself some rest. Come tournament time you will see the 30 and 40point games coming back out of him. The tough first of the year schedule only made them better and it’s no doubt that 1A is theirs to win if they continue to play hard.

  31. The tourney is at Oakland and they beat Blackman last week so they could pull off an upset but I think Cookeville and Lebanon should be favorites. And nobody wants to finish second in this region and travel to the black hole of death in Bradley County for a win or go home game. So the Region final will be a war!

  33. So by your logic since the Dallas Cowboys are the wealthiest team in the world, built a state of the art stadium, and have a Billionaire owner…they should still be winning Championships now. What you and Ummmno fail to realize is culture matters! Coaches matter! And not having a losers mentality like you two would be an excellent place to start if you’re looking for a culture change. I’ve never seen people in a wrestling community make these weak, “woe is me” statements! Wrestling is a sport where you persevere regardless of the circumstances. You find a way to win to get what you want. If you as parents are sitting around telling your kids that they can’t make it because the other club has a nicer building and more money…you’re the problem. Winners Win. If your kids are in a room looking at the walls thinking how much better another wrestling room is, I promise you they ain’t beating us. My son isn’t at Cleveland because of the facilities, he’s there because of the people inside the building. I sure he appreciates the foundation that was laid well before he was a twinkle in my eyes, but I don’t think it even crosses his mind whether the room is nice, or big, or is the “nicest in the state” because he’s focused on wrestling. If what you guys is saying is true, rewind 2-3 years ago, when upper East Tennessee was probably a little stronger than the Chattanooga area. How did the Dupill brothers, Kodiak, Hunter Mason, Brayden Ivy, Colby Dalon, Max Norman, Caleb Wolfe, Lance Williams, Hunter Sturgill, and my son have any level of success?!?!? We didn’t have Cleveland’s facilities. We were wrestling in a dungeon looking facility that barely fit a mat in it. You know why because those kids don’t have a loser’s mentality making a ton of excuses about how bad they got it! “Oh Cleveland has better faculties than UTC and App St” if anything let your kids be a testament to how hard work pays off and adversity can make you stronger. As much as you guys hate Cleveland put that fire in your belly to use. Have you guys paid for your club coaches? Paid for better facilities? Done any fundraising? If not then put your money where your mouth is and build this juggernaut you claim is so easy to make with money. Grown men bashing and slandering kids because you have a ton of resentment because you want to be the first place finisher in the victim Olympics.

  34. I hope they got 7 - 8 more Mason Jakobs and Max and Titus Normans. If not, I don’t think so. If Noah Watkins goes to DB, that will help, but I think they will still be a few thoroughbreds short of a derby. Not a knock at all by the way. It’s good for the sport when there are several teams that can win. Would have been fun to see what DB would have done last weekend if Max and Titus did not end up at Baylor.

  36. Sounds to me Cleveland loves their coaches......values the time they spend away from their family.....makes sure they are taken care of and appreciated. Sounds to ne Alan recognized Bosken's talent and refused to let him leave....have you seen the coaches that have been at that program in the past and no longer there? I hear too many times that nobody else gets paid to coach. Why? Why in our sport, if the coaches excel at what they do, can they not be paid. Every program that gets to run a AAU Top 100, Music City Brawl, etc will make from $30-40k. Even a smaller tournament will bring in $7-10k. Cleveland is the standard plain and simple. They are breaking barriers and showing everyone how it should be done. We are modeling this and already seeing success. Build a community, fundraise, take care of your coaches. @cobrakid8 get off the internet

  40. Remember this, there are only a handful of posters on this board in the grand scheme of Tennessee wrestling. The vast majority of wrestlers, parents, and coaches don't think about Cleveland. Don't think about Alan. Don't care about this forum. Don't care about anything other than going to their kids activities. I said this many times as I've been around many parents, many duals, many teams, across many levels of wrestling. Nobody cares except for the small amount on this board. The vast majority of parents and wrestlers have no real idea of what goes on.

  41. The HCWC wrestlers we currently have in our room would be just as good if we practiced in the basketball gym, at the middle school, or in the parking lot. I’m grateful we have a wrestling room specifically for our wrestlers, but that’s not unique to Cleveland. I would say virtually every school in the state shares this fine luxury you seem to think only Cleveland has. So can you explain where all this money(you claim our wrestlers get) is spent? Please Show me your proof. If we pay for our own fees, our own gear, our own tournaments, and our own travel, then what’s left?

  42. That’s not what he’s referencing in his post. You insinuate that you know, unequivocally, that Cleveland financed the place for the Williams. That’s absolutely false and twice now you’ve spit absolute trash out of your mouth. If you have questions about Cainan and their family, I suggest you find Chris and ask. Otherwise, time to close the lips boss. You look like a butthurt sore loser and you shouldn’t be. Ryan is an incredible team with great coaching and a passionate fan base. It just didn’t work out but that’s what makes it worth watching.
