  1. You guys fall into Roys and OPs trap. I mean here they are in a High School Forum with made up fictitious play they have going on. One has to refer to Himself in a 3rd Person and the other is just a Joke! The word here in South Pittsburg is its 2 or 3 People on the same name. And its not just 1 person saying it its several people that post here and some that just read the posts. Fact is they have their few People that think its funny but in reality they are alot more that are ashamed they are from South Pittsburg. And a few that would love to find out who they are for other reasons. They can never tell their identity now. But one Day they will slip up and make a mistake. The main problem I have is most of us talking as trashy as Roy does would be banned from here!! And all this crap about transfers. Look when you have a successful Program like Greenback and South Pittsburg has you will always have haters. But think about it.... High profile Teams are NOT gonna get away with having a illegal transfer. They are under scrutiny at all times. I know for a fact Coach Vic has sat College prospects down and not let them play because it wasn't clear they could Play. Top Teams Coachs are NOT gonna take a chance on any Player thats ita not clear they CAN play. The Coachs follow the rules. If you as a Parent or Fan dont like the rules? Try to have them changed. Thats my 2 cents worth.

  2. I wouldn’t judge too much off stats, you cited the union city, Crockett, and westview games. I know we beat the “our full defense didn’t play” narrative home and that’s no excuse for giving up those large amounts of yards, but that is 100% true and a lot of those yards came when the game was already in hand. You also have to consider union city and Crockett are both teams that almost exclusively run the ball, and are good at it. I think you guys understate the Crockett win that was a huge win Crockett is probably a top 5 team in 4A this year. There were holes in the lc defense those games that were exposed but I promise they have been worked on and will be full force Friday night. No excuses coming out of the falcons this year like the past 2 years. I hate hearing all the fans talk about “if it didn’t rain we would’ve beat cornersville” it gets so old. You play however the conditions are rain or shine the best team should always prevail. Please if serious Huntington posters want to talk football talk to me I hate bs post, that goes for both lc fans and Huntington fans

  3. I don't think any player likes getting tattooed every play. Speaking from watching the kid play last year against TC we tattooed the kid almost every chance we got and the kid showed heart and got right back up and came back even harder the next play. I have never once been him complain or even have bad body language. The kid is a ballplayer and tougher than nails.

  6. Yep 95% of our skill guys live in E-Town. And my son is a lineman and was lucky enough to get chosen to play for WH, and also before that the all-star team that was put together by coaches in this county. I’m sick and tired of the whole recruiting B.S. My wife and I decided when our son started 6th grade to move him to TAD. Then it was his decision as to where he wanted to go to High School. If wanted to go back to county where the majority of his closest friends are at,,,or go to the City where we have to pay tuition. It didn’t matter. Cause as parents you want to give you child the best opportunity to be successful. He chose Elizabethton. And has earned every minute of P.T. Our kids wake up ever morning at 5:30 and go workout before school starts. Is it mandatory “NO”. But It has became the culture that sets us apart. And it would have never happened if in 5th grade he was not asked to play in a all-star football team as a LINEMAN at Battle at Rocky Top. Where kids still go today. And one more thing is this, WH Stars is 8th grade only. WH has had kids from Greenville, Chuckey, Boone, Science Hill, Hampton, Johnson County, Unaka, Happy Valley, Unicoi, West Greene, Dobyns-Bennett, Cloudland, you name the school WH has probably worked in some form with them. Why? Because the OWNER RYAN HAS A HEART FOR CHILDREN!!! So before you start shooting off at the mouth about recruiting and whatever else you want to say get your facts right. It’s not these kids fault that UR “little Johnny didn’t get picked” and I guarantee if you would have approached WH and asked if your son (if you have one) could go and compete he would have welcomed with open arms... Oh and another thing, WH is doing a coat drive which is done every year “Warm Up With Witten Huddle” This where members go around the Elizabethton and Carter County Community and give out coats to people in need. Maybe you should Come and see just how many kids go to other schools other than Elizabethton.

  8. Yes, they had the evidence in color! Ignored it, jest didn’t want to go there so late in the season! Selective governing, Fayetteville did not get the same treatment this year!

  10. Please feel free to add some substance. I would love to hear a few things about what positive things Lake co does. Why do you think you have the edge. What do y’all do better than Huntingdon. or do you want to talk about donkeys and doses and being on the clock? For goodness sakes....add something! there is one LC poster that will post about football. The rest are a bunch of clowns.

  11. Here are some points you may find interesting (at least the Huntingdon faithful will) What does the number 392 mean to you? That is the number of rushing yards Lake County gave up to Union City. How about the number 272? That would be the amount of rushing yards surrendered to Crockett County. How about 508? That would be Westview’s total yards for the game. Do you know how many runs of 40+ yards Lake County has given up this year? Well no, but I do know in just the three above mentioned games it was 11. We won’t get into the Gibson County “scrimmage” even though it was played as a game type situation because that really won’t mean much. So, I will just say your starters gave up 220 yards rushing and leave it at that.

  14. Good gracious what a bunch of mess! I have spent two days trying to catch up on this thread. Greenback has become a very familiar foe for the Pirates in the last 4 years. When I played in the 90s, Greenback had our number. My senior year was the first time we beat them in 3 tries. Much respect for this fan base and this team. If SP does not give up the big lead last year, the Pirates and Cherokees would have squared off for the right to represent the east for 2018. This is a match up both teams/fan bases knew was coming since the start of the season. Both have solid teams but the QB and #23 for the Cherokees pose a huge challenge. If Greenback was a primarily running team, I would like the Pirates chances. A good passing game in 1A is hard to stop...most teams just do not have enough solid players to cover the receivers. I do not see the Pirates stopping the human highlight...he will get his touches and probably score a couple touchdowns. I just hope the Pirates can outscore them and get a few breaks in this game. Regardless, it should be a good one to watch and I am jacked up and ready to be sitting on the vistors side around 12:00 Friday...LOL.

  15. South Gibson went 10-2.... Crockett finished 8 and 5. HC was without there starting tail back.. against south Gibson we fell behind 2 scores and fell behind Crockett 3 the first time we played and one score the last time we played. Dyersburg was a young team who in the process kicked off 6 starters for gang violence in the school after there 3 and 0 start gotta know the facts my guy

  17. Love it! My parents made that same decision for my older brother and myself to attend Greeneville City Schools when I was 5 years old. They had no clue I would end up being a 3 year starter for the Devils Football and Baseball team and was academic purposes only. (Both went to county schools and the education and resources are completely different). There are 5 Greeneville Greene Devils on that Witten Huddle team with my Cousin being one of the QB's along with Maupin who is a Cyclone. Love what Witten has done for all of NE Tennessee

  18. Today, however, they were not playing. Uncle Henry sat upon the doorstep and looked anxiously at the sky, which was even grayer than usual. Dorothy stood in the door with Toto in her arms, and looked at the sky too. Aunt Em was washing the dishes. From the far north they heard a low wail of the wind, and Uncle Henry and Dorothy could see where the long grass bowed in waves before the coming storm. There now came a sharp whistling in the air from the south, and as they turned their eyes that way they saw ripples in the grass coming from that direction also. Suddenly Uncle Henry stood up. “There’s a cyclone coming, Em,” he called to his wife. “I’ll go look after the stock.” Then he ran toward the sheds where the cows and horses were kept. Aunt Em dropped her work and came to the door. One glance told her of the danger close at hand. “Quick, Dorothy!” she screamed. “Run for the cellar!”

  21. Game will come down to QB play in my opinion

  22. It’s pretty simple they came to Greenback to play for a winning team. They lost their Mr. Football QB so naturally the new QB saw a fit. Same for the receivers/back that came. They saw openings and showed up. I’m sure they did it the right way so there really isn’t anything to discuss. Do I wish both teams only had the kids coming back from the rosters at the end of 2018? Absolutely I do because we would be in much better shape to try and get the win on Friday.

  26. One of the truly unique aspects of this game is that neither fan base has a good idea of how good or bad their respective team actually is. We both have seen a lot of blowouts and only a couple of quality opponents. About all anyone can go on is how physical the play has been and how has the team executed. Looking for a slug fest where the first team that doesn't hold serve on scoring could be the loser.

  27. A few notes in regard to the Peabody v. Riverside game Friday night: The football field is where it has been since 1965, at the middle school. When Decatur Co. built a new high school in 2000, they left the field at the middle school. This is the same field the boys' fathers, uncles, and grandfathers played on. I know you true football fans understand this. There have been several things taking place to very best to accommodate the folks from Trenton and others. 1. An additional ticket gate will be on the visitor's side. 2. The ticket gates will open at 5:00. Additional parking will be up the hill on the south side of the stadium. The additional parking will be at the softball/baseball fields and civic center. Fans can walk on a paved road from there. The lights will be on at those fields all evening for the courtesy of the visitors. 3. Additional seating will be added in the west end zone in the form of two sets of bleachers. That is happening tomorrow (Tuesday). 4. Additional security will be on hand to aid the traffic. 5. (Our home side is one of the biggest in 2A football.) When we have good gates in the regular season (Lexington, Camden), we usually have some visitors on the home side east end (closest to the road). If it's good weather, you better get there early and you still might want to bring a lawn chair. This is big stuff for us - the biggest since 1965.

  28. The strongest my friend...I can honestly say as a former player on those West teams we knew we were in a battle every Friday night and we sure felt it the next morning. It was always tough knowing you were playing for third place behind Maryville and Central.

  29. Ravenwood and Houston are just as good as Oakland and Maryville. Ravenwood has won 3 playoff games 104-6 and Houston had over 400 yards of total offense against Whitehaven. Winner of this game may win state but it won't be by 4 TD's. Both CR and Whitehaven pride themselves on physical play, but don't put up alot of points, these teams do

  30. There are few good places to eat here. The Depot is probably the best in town, it’s a locally owned restaurant but is great. The Catfish House is also very good. We have an O’Charley’s here as well. Ichiban is a Japanese restaurant if you like that. Torino’s is a Greek/Italian place. All of these can be found on Google I’m sure so you can get directions. Get there early though, especially at The Depot.

  36. No you said PEARL COHN wasn't good enough, not individuals. Come on now don't throw something out there like that without your reason behind saying it. Because now you looking like you have something against PC! Maybe you wanted attention so if that's case I'll give it to you. How the heck you gone get on here and say 13-0 team not good enough? PC is pretty much the only undefeated team in the state that don't get any respect! No media coverage whatsoever, then its people like you that get on here just talking without no reason to why you said it. People look at fb26 and myself saying (Pearl Cohn vs Everybody) that's not to be arrogant but that's just how it is! So Friday night if we so happen to lose, it won't be because these kids or coaches wasn't good enough or our kids wasn't prepared for Friday. Now that's something i can ensure you!!!

  42. It’s harsh but the truth. Biggest game of the year, and you run an offense that you failed with early in the year, and haven’t ran in weeks? You run THAT kick return play before the half, easily giving Oakland points? And then to top it all off, you have a coach on your staff mouthing off to the opponents players? Resulting in a big cluster? (wouldn’t call it a fight). I feel bad for the kids. They deserve more than that.

  44. Thanks for the love @Salem. The harsh and unfortunate reality of this whole season for us is that we will never be able to say, "Yeah, we beat so and so in the 2019 playoffs", or, we made it to the second, third, or fourth rounds. It will have to be a topic of conversation over a few cold ones or around a bonfire of the season that wasn't. Not to say that on the field we didn't dominate some teams. Not to say that this team of over-achievers didn't hold all but one opponent to two touchdowns or less, and that one that is as of today still in the playoffs (Gordonsville, btw, who scored 17 on us). Not to say that we didn't finish the season 10-0 (or 4-6, depending on how you look at it with the outside factors involved). Not to say that the team and the group of young men that finished 1-9 in 2018 didn't turn their program around 180 degrees. It's extremely difficult to produce teams that consistently prove their mettle and have success in the post-season. SP does it, Huntingdon, Lake Co., GB does it, Wayne County back in the day. That's the kind of teams we at Fayetteville (and so does everyone else) want to create. We caught lightning in a bottle this year, and for all the wrong reasons, we had to remove the bottle cap and move on. To @rebelboy121 I would say, I disagree with you to the full extent. Should Huntland have beat Fayetteville? Sure they should have; if the 2018 team was the one they played. But, your harsh reality is that it wasn't the 2018 team, and on the field, and after the last whistle, Fayetteville came out on top. As it was with all our other R-5 opponents. And, unfortunately for me, I took a certain satisfaction as I followed this thread last night that Huntland had no answers to the Mustangs and ended up losing, even if Huntland kept pace with them for some of the game and even if the Hornets were "our" representative in the playoffs. With each play-off game Huntland advanced from, I felt that we would have as well IF the circumstances had been different. But again, the harsh reality is that the Fayetteville Tigers were not representing R-5. I've said too much, and I'm belaboring the point and ya'lls patience, so we can pick this convo back up in 2020 if you're that interested. . . @Guy001, you've made some good points this season, even with being so "new" to posting here on The T. I agree with you that Fayetteville would have been a tougher match-up, and it would have been a very interesting game to have watched--how would've the X's and O's played out between our two teams? How would your Mr. Football candidate been handled/stopped/schemed for by our group of athletes? I would say that even though we will never know how it would have turned out this year, we will go back to work to see how it will turn out in the near future. And finally, to answer someone's question of where did Huntingdon stop to stretch their legs and do their walk-through s--they stopped at Fayetteville High School. They were allowed full use of our facilities (such as they are) to help them prepare for last night's game. I personally am glad they were able to get ready and take a minuscule amount of satisfaction that (we) were indirectly and remotely involved in their ultimate success.
