I attended our road game Friday night and folks were allowed to enter the gate without wearing any masks. Of course, they did check everyone's temperature before entering. It seems to me some of these regulations that are in place are not gonna be enforced. Maybe they want to keep away from any confrontation that may or could arise I guess. Which is sad in my opinion. IDK. I wish everyone would take it upon themselves to follow what is in place and for the life of me I can't understand why some of you think it's such a big deal. I for one want these kids to have their moment in the sun and have their season. My advice is comply with what is in place or stay at home. Simple as that. This ain't about you or me individually. It's about all of us together. It's about these kids. It's about them being able to play the sport they love in front of their families, friends and communities. There's a reason these regulations are in place. So we could possibly have a safer way to enjoy some normalcy and enjoy watching these kids play. I'll finish my thoughts with this: If the TSSAA cancels these kids season because of non compliance of their regulations then I'm gonna blame some of the people in this room. And then, I do not forgive.

Follow the rules so the kids can play. My two hours in a mask grants these ball players memories for a lifetime.

It's all about the rules. The rule says wear a mask. I'm 100% in favor of ejecting any fan found not wearing a mask at a high school game.

Clinton almost looked like a team in a scrimmage trying out different things just to see what needs work. It was very hard to watch as a dragon fan, but I'm positive that our coaching staff will do whatever it takes to make this team better.

I agree, honestly I've never had more confidence in the TSSAA than I have this year. They did their part, the rest is up to us as school systems, communities, families, and even the kids. Everyone can contribute and you can contribute without blaming someone else.

So he is upset because the TSSAA is making them play by the rules?? Basketball coaches across the state can attest to how Memphis schools for years have been allowed to build super teams with what seems like unlimited transfers. All this guy is doing is pandering to his base.

We have been sent a message from our AD that TSSAA is closely monitoring the mask at games situation. People everywhere are sending in photos of mostly students but adults also not wearing masks at all Fall Sports, mainly football. Regardless of positive case numbers, if they think that it is not going to be safe they will shut it down. I am in no way "pro-mask", but I would like to continue to have high school sports.

Southtowner….Thank You for your post! The game is truly that simple, just comply. If we do what is required then the kids play and all of the hyperbole takes care of itself. I recognize that we all have a value or belief system, but every now and then we have to compromise for the greater good. The greater good right now is the kids.

#2 played really good on both sides of the ball to be just a sophomore and #7 has that breakaway speed to change a game on any given play. I believe this will be a good close game with MC getting the W 20-14

Biggest difference I noticed was we actually have some size on the line even though some are younger, plus we seemed to be more physical than I saw in any games last couple years.

If the TSSAA were to cater to their demands then the whole system would collapse. Could you imagine the recruiting that some public schools would do. It would be total chaos. Them basically calling the TSSAA racist is a joke. The TSSAA may be many things but it's not racist.

Honestly, lots of folks are distrustful of TSSAA's TRUE mission, myself included. I've been expectantly waiting to see who would be the first to fall out of step and if anyone would follow for a handful of years now... what caught me off guard was that color was designated as the primary reason for Tennessee's largest system to be examining the possibility of existing without TSSAA's structure. If SCBOE wants to be taken seriously, and for other disgruntled systems to consider their options as well, they need to expose the more prevalent shortcomings, not just "playing the race card".

Great news today from TN. Weeks into a return to football the sky did not fall. Statewide cases are dropping. Freedom and football are winning! Covid and its many supporters on this thread are in decline like Phil Williams ratings! ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Tennessee Department of Health has reported 667 new cases, bringing the state to 144,604 total cases, a .5% day-to-day increase since Sunday. Monday’s update becomes the state’s lowest increase of new cases since June 22 (451 cases).

TSSAA voted to have the schools "police" this with nothing but a page full of rules. In these unprecedented times, maybe they should step up and offer more help to each school for enforcement. Now, what that help might entail I do not know, but it seems to me they set the schools up for failure if they will be investigating every picture they see posted on social media of a student section with kids with no masks. What did they expect? Furthermore, the country is so divided on the issue people who disagree with kids playing sports or going back to school are just going to look for this stuff to send to the media. In addition I had a spring sport parent tell me it was not fair fall sports got to play and she hoped they got shut down because he Senior did not get a soccer season. So you have those folks looking for no mask pictures too. I personally felt like my kids safety and that of my family was not in any more danger of being exposed to COVID at the game on Friday night as we are if we were to go into Walmart. It is just my opinion.

Sadly, I felt like I was one of only 20 in the whole stadium at Sequatchie wearing one the other day. Sometimes, you listen to authority.

I cannot wait for this game to take place. I want to say that Covington will win this, but it is Haywood we are talking about. Sources tell me the Tomcats didn't look too hot this past Friday, but of course not many do against Henry Co. Covington was very impressive, but Munford is not on the same level of this Covington team. Should be a good test for the Covington defense and going to be interesting to see if Haywood can contain Hayes. End of the day, I'll take Covington by a TD.

I know we never like to talk about IFS but IF we didn't have one blown coverage and gave up another big play Haywood may not have scored but only 6. The reason I say this is in my opinion the score doesnt show how WELL we really played. A lot of that was because of week 1 without a lot of prep time. Same can be said for Beech and their turnover issues and the push off by Powell for the TD. If both teams clean things up for this game I expect a really really good game. Possibly coming down to the final seconds.

But. It's soooo much fun!!

If they lose this game it will be back to back on the carpet technically. Lake County beat them on the carpet the last game of the season.

This will be a good game. I was at last years game and told my son that OR was a much better team than they played that night. OR had athletes all over the field. As I was leaving the stadium last year several of the OR players were walking to the bus and I told them to keep their head up because they were going to get better and they needed to learn from their mistakes and move on. It appears the coach and players did just that from what the balance of last season suggest and the HV game this season. If DB has a weakness it would be over looking a really good OR football team.

I feel ya! If I was gonna do a rankin for our region Meigs Oneida Rockwood Wartburg CG Oneida and Rockwood could flip but Oneida has had their number past couple years. It could easily be a coin flip time that game is played. I’m not putting anybody above Meigs until somebody steps up and knocks them off.

I would agree with you. I guess the only thing that surprises me outta this whole thing was the CF and Wartburg score. I really thought Wartburg May have something this year.

Hope so. They really miss the senior leadership and someone to step up and make a play when it is needed. I think some of the young guys can fill that void. Something else I forgot to mention is what a beautiful place MC has to play surrounded by those mountains. That was my first time in Jasper. Top notch place and top notch people. Hope we get the chance to play there again in the future.

Are we still arguing about wearing masks and how effective they are? Isn't that a moot point? The point being that people are not going to comply regardless. One sneeze and everything is compromised. So... do we- A. Put non-compliers in jail? B. Go into full national quarantine and shut America down? C. Realize that we are taking a risk when we go into public and take our own necessary precautions? D. Be more compassionate to each other, sing kumbaya, while masked up with rubber gloves, and it will just go away after the election? E. Fill in the __________________.

Nope didn’t even try. Principal Harper told me they were only getting 82 tickets. 30 for essential personnel and 52 for nonessential. The 52 are for parents. I’d feel awful sitting there thinking I was the reason a parent or sibling or grandparent or something couldn’t get in. I might call the home school and try to swipe a home ticket though. They don’t know who I’m pulling for when I buy the sucker

I for one think the tradition they have in Oak Ridge with state titles and a national championship,along with their team coming down the hill at Blankenship Field is an awesome place to watch a game. The Castle in Bristol is great because of the Stone as well as the state titles and also a national championship for the TH program.The third place is DB's home stadium,J Fred Johnson. Not many high schools in Tennessee can hold as many people and the DB pregame is my favorite just ahead of Oak Ridge.I'd probably switch the two if my kids had went to OR . There are a lot of places in East Tennessee that have awesome views of the mountains or great football traditions but these are my three favorites to watch a game.

I guess I owe you an apology. You were right .It seems Jackson County is a football powerhouse. Being such a football power I would have thought the county would have been named after BO Jackson, not Andrew. If the Devils keep up this pace with beating Mother Nature and adding a traveling defense, they may have their 5th winning season to 20 years. And you are probably right again…...Jackson County aint going anywhere. All jokes aside, It's been my experience, over a number of years, beating York, at York, isn't an easy task. Ill give JC credit for rising to that challenge.
