  1. aintskeered Posted July 27 You need to Wake-Up! Giles has Talent, an I really think they will make it past the first round. Opinions are like bungholes, everyone has one. I see another match-up between Giles & Alcoa, this year. And this year, they'll see how FANS, with some CLASS, carry themselves. Alcoa had a change in Staff and playing at the BrickYard, will a difficult game for them. When they match-up, I'll buy your Ticket for ya, and then we can Talk about the Talent, which Giles has. Let alone, One Heck of a Coaching Staff. Big Joe will have the Defensive Line ready, and they'll shut them DOWN. Which I predict them doing,to most of the TEAM'S in REGION PLAY. GO BOBCATS!

  2. Giles will be the next sacrificial lamb this week. Alcoa is just too much for them or most anyone again this year. But you had a Great Season. Nothing to be ashamed of. Congrats on another great season.

  3. Fist of all let me say congrats to both teams for getting this far. Clay, congrats for enduring through many losses and to finally make it this far with a trip to the State Championship in sight. Once you get there anything can happen, as we SP people know from last year when we won it all. I think Clay wins this game by 21-28 points, but they have to keep there mind on this game and not look ahead. BTW, if anyone out there is ever up in the Celina area I would say please go and spend some time at Dale Hollow. One of the most prettiest area's and lake that God ever put on the earth. PowerP and me have spent some good time up there boating and jet skiing.

  4. Disappointment is a hard pill to swallow. Especially when you have such high expectations. You Tiger fans are looking for someone to blame but maybe there isn’t anyone to blame. Maybe the fact is that these Rebels are just better and they have proved it 2 games in a row against “City”. Good luck on the hardwood.

  5. Props to number 2 from mckenzie, I seen him going from player to player on city’s team picking them up and hugging them, seems like a really good kid and a good sport.

  6. I have know clue about anything on Giles side. Obviously they have made it to the semis so they have got to be a talented team. But what i do know is that Alcoa has hit its stride!!!! I feel like last night was the best we have played all the way around. Its agreat time to be peaking to their full potential. I still think this team hasnt played to its full potential YET!!!! GILES BETTER BUCKLE UP!!!

  7. If last year's game was taking it on the chin - then what you call this year's game? I just assumed it was two good programs battling it out it two very good games. I guess I was wrong.

  8. I think you got the name on the front of the jerseys confused!

  9. The good thing about GreenEville is we're not a one sport school. Them boys are contenders on the wrestling mat and the hardwood. Soccer teams aren't to shabby either. We'll get ours don't worry

  13. Also #9 should have been on offense more instead of just on 2 point plays. Have to put your best guys on the field as much as possible.

  14. Alcoa just got Giles county game film.

  15. I know it’s old news but #7 for FC needs to be a part of the offense. I think that’s where they messed up. Dude has a chance to score every time he touches is.

  16. I look for #2 to have a big game, and the defense will hold up, HC gets the win and takes a trip to the Nooga...

  17. Massey don't watch the F5 blowing teams off the field and the 3's and freshman playing most of the 3rd and 4th qtr. against GP's STARTERS. Last night Alcoa went in at half time 42 - 0 against a 12-1 GP team. Final score - 56-21. In the Championship there will NOT be any need to hold back and save Players. If Giles Co. Scores 19 points, then Alcoa will be up big and call the dogs and score against younger players.

  19. 2 observations. FC was able to run rather consistently after that disastrous opening 3 possessions. Poor play calling and execution. Any thought of putting 5 in to start with? He should have had a spot in the backfield all season. McKenzie won by passing the ball successfully and limiting penalties. FC had 11 penalties for over 100yrds and only passed for 61. Your not going to beat a very good team with those numbers. Seems the QB threw an awful lot of passes short or behind the receivers. Poor coaching and execution was the difference tonight.

  20. Congratulations to all the Maverick posters. But a personal congratulations to MavsinFlight, Forrmermav and Moogsly. You all were the best team on the field. You won straight up. I am now an unofficial Mavs fan as you move foreword. 2 more games and the gold ball. Actually happy for you all when I woke up this morning. God Bless and be safe.

  21. Also would like to say that West TN was represented so well tonight. 4 great teams and both games came down to the last play. Congrats to Peabody and Fayetteville on great seasons.

  22. Great win for Maryville. As usual they played discipline and physical football. I hated to be on the losing side but you can’t make mistakes and be beat in the trenches like my Hilltoppers did. My boy still had his head up high and proud of him. I’m proud of all our seniors on the this Hilltoppers team. They were overlooked for years because of their size. Sure made people question themselves this year. I’ll say this for my last post. If you’re a good coach and I think we have some. SH community needs to support the program. I’m a Greeneville boy and it killed me watching my son play for a team that didn’t have the support throughout middle school and High school. Coaches can do so much but it takes a community to make it special. Go red rebels and keep that gold ball on this side of the state.

  24. According to what have been told by a contact inside the coaches office on Sutherland Avenue they are likely to keep both Maryville and Alcoa on the schedule for the next 2 year cycle.

  28. I can understand why fans are on the field if there's a sellout crowd. However, I don't understand why there are fans on the field when there are "empty seats" on the bleachers. If you look at the video that Stephen Hargis posted on Twitter, you can clearly see there were "empty seats" on the bleachers. That video appeared to be a good video to used as evidence or clarification. Unfortunately, the video is basically useless because there was a fan on the sideline when he/she should be in the bleachers. I also don't think the runner stepped out. There's a video at the deep side of the end zone, and if you paused the video and can zoom in, I can some green between the receivers cleat and the sideline. I'm actually convinced he didn't get in. 1) the receiver didn't extended the football. 2) he was drifting out of bounds. 3) he did hit the pylon. Sadly, it appeared hit the pylon with his left shoulder and not with the football. 4) It also appeared that the receiver rolled into the end zone, and I can see if his knee was down prior to his left shoulder hit the pylon. Throughout all the videos and pictures, I don't see anything convincing me that it was a touchdown. Kudos to the official on what looks like is the right call, and not listening to any of the fans yelling "Touchdown" in his ear trying to persuade the guy to change his call.

  29. There was a reason to play and beat the drum during Mckenzie’s offensive drives and then stop when Fayetteville was on offense. Do you really think that was just by chance. I’ve watched football for almost 60 years. This was to cause problems with our cadence.

  34. Absolutely hurt them with the onside kicks. Coach, you don't need to give the opposing team a shorter field to score.

  35. They have a kicker. Coaches should have used him

  39. Well the better team won tonight. Congratulations to the Powell Panthers. Good Luck next week against West. May have to go out in the cold to watch that one. Powell's QB, running back and receivers took over the game and won, it was almost fun watching them. WILDCAT PRIDE. we still got pride, it's just a little bruised right now! lol

  43. I have to say Mavs came back this year in games and won. They play a terrifically hard schedule. But before this game I could not help for think why are they holding back so much. Now I see why. Still had a lot of plays in the book and almost got one to #16, darn it pretty sure it would have scored.

  45. AC has had a tougher schedule this year. They're tested and know how to play 4 quarters. Some of the teams GV played and ran the score up against were bad teams. Reminds me of when AC played in a weaker district with Chattanooga teams and GV played a tougher schedule. The GV posters called AC out for that. Looks like maybe the tables have turned.

  46. as of 2018-2019 school year, Fayetteville High School was 31% black and 54% white, with enrollment at 364. Lincoln County was 1% black and 89% white with enrollment at 1134. If you do the math, combining the schools would give you an enrollment of 1498, with 8% black and almost 81% white. the state average for schools is 22% black and 60% white, which still aren't great numbers. that being said, the City high school has a demographic closer to state average (better than state average, I'd argue) than the County school, and combining them would have a minimal effect. unrelated to your post, but someone somewhere was arguing the student to teacher ratio was worse at City than County....for the record, the same school year (18-19), the ratio was 15:1 (state average) at City and 17:1 at County (worse than average).

  47. If AC can play like they did against Powell, Science Hill and Carter they are more than capable of beating Elizabethton again and then beating Greeneville. If they play like they did against Rhea Co. their season will be over. Play like they did the other 6 games they could still beat Elizabethton and Greeneville. I think AC, Greeneville and Elizabethton are the best 4A teams in the state. The 4A state champs will be one of those teams.
