I appreciate the discussion from all yall this year on the AP poll topics. It's now playoff time. Looks like some great battles are in store. I hope and pray everyone has safe travels and each team will stay injury free. Regardless of who wins, I'll be at a playoff game each week. I'll also be in Cookeville to support the public schools championship games. 2A is on Thursday this year and 1A is on Saturday. Good luck to everyone.4 points

Ahh... the good ol days. When doors were left unlocked, kids played outside, your hunting rifle was in your truck in the school parking lot, only girls wore dresses and make up and communities and high schools cared about each other.3 points

Fun stats to look at is offensive and defensive scoring for the year and how every team compares. I know that it means very little because it doesn't take into account many variables that would skew the results if it was a true ranking (strength of teams played, points given up and scored on B-team or special team points, ect.). If you ranked each team based on most points scored then did the same for points allowed then added the offensive and defensive ranking together, then rank the teams based on that number here's what you would see; 1. Meigs is ranked #1 in points allowed and 4th in scoring giving the a total of 5 points 1. Peabody 2/3 total 5 3. Watertown 4/2 total 6 4. Trousdale 3/9 total 12 5. Tyner 7/7 total 14 5. Fairley 9/5 total 14 7. Riverside 5/10 total 15 8. Lewis 14/6 total 20 9. Columbia Acad 11/11 total 22 10. Polk 16/13 total 29 11. Waverly 30/1 total 31 12. Oneida 6/26 total 32 12. Gibson Co 18/14 total 32 14. Rockwood 10/23 total 33 14. Eagleville 25/8 total 33 Not mean to be a real ranking just fun conversation.1 point

Agree!!! It really depends on matchups, do you win the LOS, turnovers and capitalizing on them, and who caves and who shows up and plays lights out football for 48 minutes no matter what and then there are the Bama vs whoever matchups lol and there you go. You are one of my favorite posters by the way! Just enough serious football info and intelligent convo mixed in with a little raucous to be fun.1 point

As far as the school itself no it has always been riverside but ppl would put the parsons or Decatur county w it just to give people an idea where riverside is. But technically it's just riverside1 point

I was messin with ya bud. Should be a good game. Polk played us good and we played badly most of the game. But at times they can be a pretty decent ball team.1 point

Looks like a good assessment with the exception of 145. Lundy dominated Fields at an event in Johnson City a few weeks ago. The score didn't reflect the beat down he put on Fields. To Hamm's defense, Lundy didn't wrestle last season and he might of not known that Lundy vs. Fields went down. Lundy is hungry for the state title. He's worked his tale off this summer. Gonna have to put my money on Lundy.1 point

Greenback is the best team in 1A until someone knocks them off. Cornersville has every right to talk as of now. They have a great team. Huntingdon also has a great team but comes up short in big playoff games as of late. Whitwell and So. Pitt could cause Greenback problems. Lake Co could do the same to Cornersville or Huntingdon.1 point

Awww nah, I skipped SMOOTH PAST this when I first saw it last night sans-tagging. That suspect coaching claim is ... nope, you all will not pull this out of me. I'm looking forward to Whitehaven, Kirby, Fairley, Lausanne and MUS' Cookeville runs!!!1 point

Looks like the typical Rhea County team to me. This Rhea County team is good, big and physical. Power Wing T/ triple option could give us trouble. 3 of Rhea's 4 losses are to good football teams; Catholic, Bradley and Soddy ( who beat Catholic 17-7). Not sure how they lost to McMinn, must have been in Athens. Lol. Cats better come to play!1 point

I'm gonna miss these posts. 4 of Forrest's 5 losses were to top 12 teams, and the other was to a Div II juggernaut1 point

He is a really good player. Just like several more on that team. They are living in dreamland if they think they aren’t going to miss those kids. I believe they could have 5 all state players.1 point

I spoke to one of the players and he is confident they will get it together for the playoffs.... I hope he is right because I totally agree this team has not played a complete game all year. Most just look like they are going through the motions and don't care honestly.1 point
-
I'd say he's about that size, but dude has a vertical jump most high school player's with pads on can't come close to, plus he is so fluid after he get's the ball. Someone needs to try and bump him on the line and hope you have a safety in good position or he will fly right by them. But also, when you double him they have other Wr's and RB's that can hurt you, So really like the expression said, pick your poison.1 point

But that didn't happen and Greeneville went on to a third gold ball and AC was at home with nothing but a good first quarter.1 point

Far cry from what it was when I was in High School. Back then if you didn't win the district you sat at home during playoff time. Rule High School was 9-0 entering the Maryville game in 1979 and 1981. Maryville won those games so Rule stayed at home during playoff time despite a 9-1 record. In my opinion there are too many Classes. Go back to 4 public classes and 2 private.1 point

I’m looking forward to coming back to Blankenship and eating at Big Ed’s or Dean’s. My eagles have had a down year for sure. We have been plagued with injuries, but after what I seen this past Friday we are getting healthy. We played well against a solid Cane Ridge team. Cane Ridge wasn’t as good as last year’s team no but still a very good football team. We did make some changes on our bye week that seemed to work pretty well against Cane Ridge. The biggest key for Rhea coming into this game is not to turn over the ball. When we do it kills us and has cost us the ball game a few times. We also have to have better play in the second half. We have lost some games by not finishing. We have to play a full game if we are going to have any chance of winning. I’m cautiously optimistic for Rhea, I think both teams match up well on both sides of the ball, but I believe OR has the speed advantage with Graham, Booker, Romano, and Pendergrass. I do think Rhea has the better kicking game from what I have watched. I don’t expect for us to bring as big of a crowd as last time, but we should represent pretty well. That 2014 team and the run we went on was something very special. Its a house divided this week for me. Good luck Oak Ridge. GO EAGLES!1 point

Ahhhhhh....................the annual "Lets see how much football will make for the T$$AA this year" thread. Some things are a given for Tn high school football every year. 1. Everyone does NOT like the playoffs except the T$$AA, but nothing ever gets done. 2. Then there is the DB thread about not making it past the second round of the playoffs or NOT making them at all thread. 3. Then there is the Maryville is beating EVERYBODY yet again thread. Cannot gripe about this one as they do beat EVERYBODY! Some things are consistent in Tn football.1 point

If starters are healthy, play business as usual. I would treat it like every other game. Same prep, same philosophy, believe in your program and system and work your plan. Trust your training.1 point
