One of the things hurting football today is the fact that few of the children today want to work that hard for ANYTHING. Think about it. We as parents have spoiled the s.....ah.....tuff out of them. Today they are given cars, $1,000.00 phones, expensive clothes (even if they look worn out) and just about anything else you can think of. Some of us still remember having to bail hay in the summer for $.03-05 a bail. NOT ROLLS, 60 pound bails! I know I quit that when I found out I could make $100.00 a night driving a tanker hauling 'shine'. Even if they are working at MacDonald's they are making more a night than most kids did in my youth did in a WEEK! Looking forward to y'alls year in 2020. Heck, I am just looking forward to 2020. There are 16 out of 36 of these guys still on the roster. The key to next year is going to be accountability in the off season weight training program. First, attendance has to mandatory. Second, there has to be coaches running the workouts, making sure each player has a program to follow, making sure that guys are working hard and progressing, not just showing up hanging around for 45 minutes and then hitting the door. Take Murvil for example. They workout early in the morning all summer and during the season. If their guys miss more than 4 workouts, they are fired. lol. They are welcome to try again next year. There has to be that "all in" level of commitment from all involved. We don't have that right now.3 points

That's a fact. Looked like a garbage truck had turned over around the bleachers.3 points

Now for the good about Lake County- Those kids have my respect. Tubbs for his size is one of the hardest runners I’ve ever seen. He runs with bad intentions. Snyder is a beast with the ball in his hand as well. Their coaching staff is very good at X’s and O’s. They are a hard nosed bunch. Little Big Puckett is a dominant lineman. Little little Puckett is a great player on defense. He is a much better defensive player than I gave him credit for. When it’s all said and done I sincerely hope Lake County wins that gold ball.2 points

im certainly no english teacher but i think what he may have meant to say was " Save FOR approx 3 games per year"....ive used "Save" many times in replacement of the word "except"...which if he had said it that way...." except for approx 3 games per year " might have made more sense to anyone who might have not quite understood what he meant....ALL THAT SAID......i would like to wish every fanbase on coacht a very merry christmas, save for approx. 3 fanbases and i hope those 3 get coal in their stockings this year..2 points

do some stats GB scored 577 had 189 scored on them. LC scored 692 had 182 scored on them. Reg, season LC opponents 53 wins 60 losses. GB opponents 57 wins 31 losses. You know what this means nothing.2 points

The game with Elizabethton will decide conference. Like always the rest of the teams are awful. I have no clue about Anderson County next year but the other teams in district 2 were weak this season. I am really going out on a limb2 points

Nolensville had 3 second half first downs, 1 via a 15 yd penalty. Their longest play from scrimmage in the second half was 15 yards. That was the pass play from the 1 after 3 false starts. They had 79 yards of total offense, 221 for the game. The Knights didn't cross midfield in the second half. They had 48 yards on 9 penalties in the second half.2 points

I can Tell you for fact he will bring discipline. Here is a small observance. Over the last 3 years Carl would take his whole team to college camps. 1 was to get exposure for his kids. 2 to let the kids see there is a whole lot of talent out there besides just them and that it was going to take more work. What he would do is have that team act as a team at the camps plus the trips and camps gave him a chance to have the guys bond and to trust him. It was always a sight when you would see him pull up with his guys and they file off the bus. It turned people’s heads. Plus on a personal note he always made it a point to seek my son out and talk and encourage him at every camp. That’s just the kind of man he is. I am Telling you right now if the community gets on board he will transform Milan football and more important transform them into men. I am So excited for Carl and excited to see Milan football.2 points

I’m going with the Cyclones. Cyclones 35 Jackets 14 IMO the Cyclones have the better “D” with more depth and size. Keeping fresh players in rotation will show in the second half. This along with the fact that Springfield has had to go into OT in back-to-back games to secure the wins.1 point

After watching some film on Springfield I'm going with Elizabethton by 3 tds.1 point

Back to what matters the 2 A Tigers of the East and the Golden TideMen of the west !!! This is such a evenly matched contest starting fast and a turnover will most likely be the determining factor !!! Peabody doesnt turn ot over or get many penalties nor does Meigs does anything change on the biggest competitive stage some of the young men might ever be on ???1 point

You speak the truth, brother. Years of wisdom and observation have immeasurable value. Way too many kids who expect things to be done for them, versus when we had to work to have far less. Looking forward to the 2020 season. RWR!1 point

I agree. The Jackets have to run the ball and control the clock. Make every play take 40-45 seconds off the clock, if possible. They can’t get into a boat race with them. Defense needs to keep the bend but don’t break mentality. Should be a fun game to watch.1 point

Yeah our broadcasters are the worst, they’d honestly wish our regular season was full of cupcake games. They don’t understand the game evolves they stuck in the bowl game days1 point

I hope we can get competitive and host the kees in a big game up here. I can imagine having onb, nation, and 91landers sitting around my kitchen table playing cards. All of a sudden, gdf comes up to me and i say "is something on your mind? He says, "just wanted you to know you're sitting in my chair"1 point

I'm praying it doesn't happen, but id be shocked if defensive coordinator coach Craney doesn't get a couple head coaching job offers this off season. He has done an outstanding job over the last few years, consistently having the best defense in Knoxville. Rosser does a great job running his program and hiring a great all around staff, (IMO one of the best staffs in the state), but that defense has been the reason for so much success during this 4 year run. Hopefully Rosser can continue to work his magic by keeping coach Craney in fountain city.1 point

Haha, I am neither. Did not intend for this to turn into a bible discussion, but will not apologize. As for Roy and OP, Jesus said “come all ye that are burdened and heavy laden and I’ll give you rest”1 point

They ought too after going out and adding reinforcement. Hadn't happend yet. I am going to laugh when somebody knocks them out Everybody keeps saying nobody can stay within 50 of them. They better win it this year because the party is over after this year.1 point

They definitely were being “press box coaches”, saying the coaches should do this and that. I did agree on some of their points about going to the big TE more. In the end the coaches get paid to coach and know more of what’s going on than us, in the stands, do on the “in game situations”. In the end, you’ve got two great teams battling it out and one has got to loose. That game could’ve gone either way several different times. I did however find it comical; how the color commentary guy kept referring to the Jackets has being so much undersized and not as fast as Haywood. He even made a reference that they looked like a “middle school team” compared to the Tomcats. My hat’s off to the Tomcats on another great season. Hopefully the Jackets and Tomcats can do it again next year.1 point

From a "right now" standpoint, Central is the better job no question. But my god, the benefits that a city school system like OR can offer are certainly better than any school in Knox County by a mile. And if we're talking about financial well-being, and that is something that is a big deal to most working folks (especially those with families), OR is probably the better gig long-term. I'm not trying to dog Central, which has always been one of the great programs in Knox County, but the setup at OR is better in a lot of ways. And this is coming from a Powell guy! Outside of Eddie Courtney and Clark Duncan, anyone know who the longest tenured HC in Knox County is currently? Times have changed, especially in a place like Knox County where tenured coaches just don't make a ton of money.1 point

USJ takes away the run and DA can't win through the air. I'm sorry, but the weather was a huge factor in DA's win against USJ earlier in the season. If there isn't a deluge, I like USJ to win a close one. With the recent win against NCS on their home turf I feel like USJ is peaking at the right time. Besides, they don't even belong in this division and will move back up in a couple of years. For the record, my boy plays for FA so I don't like either team. Hahaha.1 point
