  5. The Tigers are always the underdogs and have never come on here talking a bunch of mess. Why would they start now? The Tigers will do what they do every week. They will prepare each day for the team they face on Friday. They will bring the most loyal group of fans you could ask for. They will leave it all on the field. These boys have faced challenges a whole lot harder than a championship game so don't expect them to be intimidated. They will walk in that stadium with no fear and do their job. They see and hear what people say but they don't need others to build them up. They are brothers and they build each other up everyday. They may not have a Mr Football on the team but we've had one before and that doesn't win State Championships. We are excited to come to Cookville and support our Tigers!! See you all Friday!

  6. Let me say this the 2 best teams in 2A football in TN. will play Saturday at 3:00pm. Both Teams have a lot on the line in this game for each of their respected schools and communities . If Meigs wins it will be their 1st gold ball and if Peabody wins it will be a three peat and their 4th gold ball so all of the banter is fun until fans bring kids by name and number into your conversations. This is for football talk and a place to talk your team up not a pen!! comparison site. These kids deserve all the respect in the world!!!! I expect a very hard fought game from both teams. We all ought to be thankful that they are able to play considering what the world is going through at this time! May the best Team Win!! ROLL TIDE!!!!!

  8. We watched the same game and I saw the play that you are referring to. 64 was unsportsmanlike on several occasions that didn't get called. he did block his guy and block him well. He tried to put an exclamation point after the play. Milan retaliated they both deserved the penalty. The call on the time out was terrible coaching and not doing what they were told to do, No wonder the players couldn't be told what to do on the field. Their coaches were poor examples. All they had to do was follow directions. There were times that the refs told PC players you are lining up off sides, and they would not move so they got flagged. They go in motion and then run at the line of scrimmage. This was High school football. Not arena league. those officials could care less about either team.... i am tired of all the people on here sounding like trump supporters and and trying to blame somebody else for getting beat. (I am a conservative by the way)

  12. My bad. It is Monday. South Side and Westview two best AA teams no doubt and will be in Murfreesboro, IMO.

  13. I agree there is a problem but it isn’t going anywhere for a few more years. The board there keeps extending the contract. Thing is SC is almost a laughing stock in other counties when it comes to administration at or towards the top. That issue obviously isn’t going anywhere soon so might as well take it for what it is and try to make the best of it. A new coach can succeed there if they have the right mindset and can connect with the kids. I’d life to see Carthage he succeed and get back to what they used to be. I’d love it for the fact that hopefully they would schedule local teams, H20 in particular, and create local rivalries and good games every year that people and fans could be excited about. There’s nothing better than a Friday night with 2 small towns that despise each other for about 3 hours then can come together after and support the other. The more local teams that play each other the more that can happen and the better it is for the this whole area.

  14. Peabody better come out strong. Peabody and SP are almost equal this season in my mind. The SP Meigs could have any either way. The players and coaches from Peabody can’t slack up. I’m going with Peabody in this one but it’s going to be a battle. A battle that I think Peabody wins in the 4th qt. 34-23 Peabody

  17. Sounds like a disgruntled parent whose “little Johnny” was getting to play or a coach that Murray brought in who is about to see his way out with Murray to me. You can’t honestly say you thought the product on the field this year was any where close to good? Even last year, there was talent there but still same results. Yeah 2nd place and a home playoff game. Woo Hoo! You beat the bottom scrubbers to get that and barely beat them. The only good team in your district smacked you. How many games was it before Carthage actually scored an offensive touchdown? That all comes back to coaching.

  18. I agree a loss is a loss. But losing 43-7 is a lot different than losing 43-28/35. 28-0 sucks compared to 28-14. Obviously you don't understand things or the game for that matter.

  19. You are right. As a matter of fact I heard the same thing, when he was hired. I defended his stints at those schools as being difficult schools to coach. I was willing to see what he could do here. Yelp, he's gone regardless of why. Time to hire a football coach....

  20. Just a thought from someone across the river... The program is in shambles compared to what it was under Maynard. It's not a dumpster fire, but it's not anywhere near what it was. I've heard a lot of things that has happened that shortened the leash on Murray, however, I don't think one can question the work he put in, at least from what I've seen. One thing that puzzles me is that you really can't ask for a better region record, and 2 years is an awful short time-leash.

  21. South Pitt has two this year in 1A. Alcoa has done it several times when they had separate awards for lineman and backs.

  22. That Parker kid is freakish. Been paying attention to him all season. One of the most explosive playmakers I’ve seen in the state... don’t know if he’s already signed but somebody is gonna get a heck of a player in him

  23. Ah yep that’s back when we mercy ruled y’all in the playoffs at our place. Being supportive doesn’t mean we have to tell the boys they will mercy rule a team. We older folks have all played in big games and know that we feed off the crowd. Don’t you worry, the crowd will be loud and proud come Friday. However, we’ve also been so cocky and filled those kids heads up with cockiness, but then were shell shocked in a few big games. The kids need to know they can win and can win big but being too cocky may bite them. They need to know that they must give 100% effort and execute every play right, or they will lose. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being cocky. It helps you play better in some ways, until you get punched in the mouth, then you gotta rely on execution. So it’s best to execute and be cocky afterwards. It’s less of a chance of that punch in the mouth hurting so badly.

  24. 2011 Greeneville had 2 Mr Football finalist with Rollins and Hall. Rollins won it (Was Knoxville's Defensive player of the year too for all classifications) and is now coaching at Knox Central under former Greene Devil Nick Craney. Great breakdown though and definitely pulling for the Cyclones to bring another one back to NE TN.

  25. Good to hear! Looks like both teams shouldn't have the deer in head lights look then. I know Hines and Reed got the spot light but Haywood was well coaches in that game under Hoofkin. (I really liked him as your head coach)

  26. Milan made a major change to their offense after the Covington game by moving Anthony Brown from qb full time and going with Hayden Sullivan. Offense is much more dynamic now. Those two games you watched are not a good indicator of what will be run Friday.

  28. SP fell short against teams not nearly as talented in 2009 & 2011. I think most know what can happen on Friday but they also know what has happened in the past so they bite their tongue.

  30. This is an extremely poor argument. Every Mr. Football candidate only plays a full game a couple times a year. The award only considers regular season games, so Meadows only played 2 full games (SP and Oneida) and I’d say it’s about the same for Ganaway. I just hate the whole “he only played a full game two or three times!” argument when it’s like that for all candidates coming from teams like Peabody and Meigs. Edit: It was the same story for Swafford every year he was nominated, and I’m sure Baugus (spelling?) went through that too last year. Hunter Frame from SP could’ve ran for 3,000 yards in the regular season if he got to play full games.

  31. Khalik has only played a full game 3 or 4 times this year the rest he did not play after half time. Pretty impressive huh!

  34. Union city wasn’t a cupcake had 5 loses 2 of those was Peabody. 49-7 and 35-0 1 McKenzie which you said was a good team that took us to the wire two weeks ago. 49-48 1 was to USJ which is in the state game on Thursday 35-3 (first game of the year) 1 was to Dyersburg who was in the second round of 4A playoffs. 49-7 they beat Ripley 29-21 and they were in the 3rd round of the 4A playoffs. they just had a hard schedule IMO.

  37. Whoever was talking Parker Mcgill down is an idiot . Maryville probably doesn't win the State Title last year without him . Parker had all new people around him this year ... Last year Tee was hurt most of the season and Parker Dominated . I'd take a whole team of Parker Mcgills ... tough as nails and a ton of Heart . Most years Maryville hardly ever has any D1 players , and yet year after year Maryville is always a huge part of who wins the 6A Title every year . A bunch of kids who buy in every year and try to make up for what they lack in talent with hard work , sheer determination , and a ton of Heart . Maryville runs into a team with just too much talent to overcome like Oakland from time to time , but that's usually what it takes to beat these kids from Maryville who are out there busting their butts all through the summer at 6 or 7 am in the morning every day . So you guys who feel the need to single out one of these kids who have given their all ... well you know where you can go .

  38. I have not, it depends a lot on if Friendship, Gville, Macon, and White House chooses to continue to play, I would assume Portland is done playing us, I do know next year Trousdale vs Watertown will be week 11

  43. They may beat 6A teams but regular season and postseason are different can they win a 6A Gold Ball when it matters? well never know because they are chicken and are afraid to jump up a classification because deep down in their hearts theyll never win a 4A, 5A or 6A Gold Ball Beating a 6A team in regular season isnt Fearless Fearless is jumping to the next classification and winning that classes golden ball until i see otherwise Alcoa has proven it does not have the Guts to jump up a classification theyd get blown out by like Oakland in 6A playoffs

  44. This is something that has bothered me for a few years now concerning College Recruitment as I watch families struggle with understanding the recruiting process , how to get involved with the process, what are realistic schools, and what offers are real (committable) and which ones are just chumming the waters. Recruiting has changed a lot over the years and it’s no longer if your kid is good enough they will find him. In reality, if your kid actually plays on Friday nights and wants to play football at the next level there is a good possibility that there is a school out there for them, but how do these families find the right match? Granted, it probably isn’t the coveted D-1 FBS school, but there are a lot of smaller colleges that still support a team. So why don’t the coaches help their kids play at the next level instead of bashing the people (recruiting services) who have made it a business to help kids get to play at the next level. If you don’t like what they do then offer an alternative to the services that charge money. If you don’t help them it would be like a school teacher saying it’s not their job to help your kid be academically prepared for college. These coaches and schools need these players if they want a competitive team and these kids are willing to put their very lives and bodies on the line to play their chosen sport, so why wouldn’t you want to help them move on. Most parents don’t understand the process so they have to turn to someone to learn and get help, why wouldn’t the coaching staff and the school want to promote and help these families? Is it because they are too busy? Maybe it’s because they they don’t understand it theirselves? Maybe they think it’s a distraction? I don’t know the answer, but I know there are a lot a very good, hardworking, dedicated HS football players who don’t even get to talk to a college recruiter or have their coach take the time to help promote the kids that look up to them? Yes, the kids that fit the desired measurables (ht, wt, spd) will be found, I’m not talking about those kids - I’m talking about the kids who need a little help with the marketing side of recruitment and HS coaches saying, look - he may not be 6’4” DE, but he plays bigger than he looks. Why not find a coach that is passionate about helping these kids (not just the superstars) maneuver through the waters, goes out of their way to make contacts at the next level and call them College Liaison coaches???? We have too much unnoticed talent that could play at the next level if they had someone help them get there. Thoughts?
