TSSAA did call the shot. They said "PLAY BALL" , and Shelby County/Metro Nashville said "no thank you". The largest two systems in the state thought that they'd set a precedent that TSSAA would be pressured to follow, but the TSSAA (along with Gov. Lee's support) withstood and proceeded with the season. Large amount of egg on the faces of the politically motivated naysayers, and it could (should) get much worse. No reason not to play at this point, as the rest of the state is putting forth a working example. Pull the plug at this point and it's ridiculously obvious that safety isn't the primary goal.2 points

Comparing Week 1 scores and using it to determine a teams level of play is dangerous any season, but even more so in 2020. Friendship didn't show me anything special. But neither did TC in that game. All around sloppy. Gordy/Watertown sounds like it was a very similar game. Smith Co./Macon was a blow-out then Gordy "Only" beats Smith by 28? Ok remember this is one of the biggest rivalry games in the area. This one week out of the year, if not all year but especially this one week, Smith Co. is completely divided. Alot of hype surrounds this game that propels these kids to out perform their talents all to claim their bragging rights. Gordy has had a better talented group several times, only to fall in this one. So to say that a 28 point blowout in the Hole is not huge in this one is absurd to me. Dont know anything about MTCS and Friendships in the rearview now, so honestly dont care. Nolensville was a 4A semi-finalist last season and H20 hung with them. I know its a new year/new team but they should have some carryover from that deep run so i think that game speaks volumes to the caliber of team headed north on Friday. White House was big but they arent the White House of old. TC made some improvements from W1 but still some gaps to be filled. IMO....Friday will answer alot of questions as to how good both teams are. Praying for safe travels to those able to attend and a healthy hard fought ball game. Looking forward to it.2 points

We’ve got a Region 3/6A matchup between Cookeville and Riverdale this week. If you can’t make it to the game we hope you’ll join us on the UCR Facebook page or 107.7 FM 1400 AM the HUB in Cookeville. Facebook.com/UpperCumberlandReporter What are your thoughts about this game?1 point

It will be decided on The field of play. Rest assured SHS players, fans and coaches won’t overlook MCHS I hope you overlook us though1 point

I really don't think jealousy has anything to do with it. Just an outsiders opinion not connected to either team. In my opinion it's more about community. When the county built GH in its current location and took MJMS kids from MJHS and put them at GH it divided a community. By doing this there is already bad blood and a game between the two hasn't even been played yet. Maybe I am wrong but this is what I gather from talking to some at both schools. Mt Juliet will be okay but it certainly will impact depth if nothing else. GH will also be okay but it won't happen over night.1 point

Just picked up Henry County for week 7 at home to replace one of the Metro teams !1 point

Don’t get me wrong there are still some good people in chapel hill but this “I’m better than you attitude” makes up the majority1 point

Haha why would cornersville be jealous of chapel hill?? There’s nothing to be jealous of I’ve been there done that yeah im telling on myself now it’s obvious who I am there’s a reason I left and didn’t come back if you don’t have the right last name or don’t hang with that “click” then your nobody in chapel hill wake up there is more to life than chapel hill! Down here everyone is someone down here everyone gets along with everyone not one person is better than the other!1 point

You must understand that Freedom and Security are inverses. Both good things, but inverses. You cannot have both. You my friend, along with your comrades, have picked security. Your kids will not be playing football this year.1 point

If Lebanon takes care of the football, Lebanon pulls the upset 21-17. Been very impressed with the blue devil offensive line. They should handle the defensive struggles MJ is battling up front. Hope to witness a classic contest.1 point

Workinprogress has been a very critical Individual towards Mount Juliet football. I take his comments and concerns about our program about as serious as I do the coronavirus scandal.1 point

Germantown is hung up in that Shelby County madness! At best, they are playing a Memphis City-Only schedule and will not be playing in TSSAA in football this year along with Whitehaven and all the other city schools. They may end up leaving the TSSAA altogether, but that decision has not been made and remains to be seen. https://amp.commercialappeal.com/amp/56793120021 point

Like coach Counce says that's why we schedule the tuff teams for the out of region games. Keeping within 1 score of beech says a lot to me. And a win against Haywood. We lost to both last year and still had our way with DC on week 3. And our talent pool only opens up after this year and the next. Hopefully next year the season is back to normal. (Scrimmages and jamboree) plus all the practice we missed. Also hopefully someone slips a bug in coaches ear about Norman Duncan1 point

If I recall your loss to Riverside last year could only attract a few more fans than a Cornersville JV game. Cornersville playing Chapel Hill has no benefit for Cornersville. If the Bulldogs were to lose you would boast about it being equivalent to the second coming of Christ. If the Bulldogs were to win you would say that you had to many penalties and the refs stole the game from you. ( Heard that before.) How about letting the past be past and get on a Forrest thread that supports your team this year.1 point

Let Green Hill enjoy their first season. Win or lose it is exciting for those kids.1 point

exactly as i said. is TC the team who whalloped White House or the one who lost to FCS who lost to MTCS is Watertown the team that struggle with 1A Gordy or the one who hung tough with 4A semi Nolensville1 point

Actually no, but I recorded the West vs Farragut game on TV and have watched it since OR plays both soon. I think the DB defense is better than the West defense (the last couple of years West defense was great). I was much more impressed with the West offense than the West defense, but both are good.1 point

We open things up it b a big w. They secondary suspect at best. Try to keep grinding it out it prolly b close but we where em down. 38-20 if we pass. 21-14 if not. Dont see em losing either way1 point

The latest episode of @BurmaRoadPodcast is, as far as weekly in-season content, i believe is the best one yet. Steven put alot of time in on it and it really has a good flow. As for Interviews, the first episode with Chad Evitts and last weeks episode with Jonathan McCall are 2 of the best. Those 2 guys give some great insight to how that TC locker room was in the 1990s. Chad, if you dont know, was a great player who went on to Tennessee Tech and then went on to the Pittsburg Steelers camp where he was the last person cut (I dont recall the year). At that point he chose to return home and move on from his football playing career. He now is an assistant at TC. Jonathan was (in his words) ok. He played with lots of talented players around him (was apart of the 97 and 98 teams) and IMO was pretty good. He is an even better story teller and i believe has given the best interview to date. I know i really enjoy the show and doing my small part. I hope that others enjoy it as well. I only expect it to grow.1 point

First HS game of the season. Davidson county had a no game mandate. Won't mention my company but my dividend checks suggest that they are doing well.... A dividend check is a dollar amount that is paid to stockholders when the company makes money. I won't be going back and forth with you on this stuff.....reading your posts that is your thing...not mine.1 point

How much more does he need to win? He lost a handful of games in 6 years. The most knowledgeable poster from the area says he's organized and prepared. Considering where he went it sounds like a good hire.1 point

South Pitt's nursing home at 10??? Sorry, but that's a senior heavy team with a lot of experience. I would have put them at least top 5 with that much experience. Granted, they may play an old school kind of ball but you know they'll grind it out.1 point

Still think it is funny that you complain about something that you have control over. All you have to do is not watch or listen to any Cornersville game, it really isn't that hard. I know that with a Forrest education you surely can figure out how to stay away or not pay attention but nope, here you are complaining about our announcer that we all care for but does not pertain to you. But like I said before, worry about your program up north and we will worry about the south end of the county.1 point

You guys have an awesome program. More wins over the last decade than most 3A programs. Much respect for what you guys have done.1 point

That would be an awesome headline if they were to play each other this week.1 point

It would be very tough to play with no fans. Football attendance funds your whole athletic budget. IMO, the TSSAA (the GHSA too, for that matter) should have called the shots, instead of leaving it up to the individual school systems.1 point

Wait, You said you like HS ball......and you just went to your first game Friday night? I'm not buying that. I'd like to know what company you did budget and risk assessment work for. And how long it took them to go bankrupt after you started.1 point
