  1. Congrats to Powell and Matt Lowe's hand picked team of recruits. Gotta love the cheating to win!

  2. Don’t know, and frankly don’t care. But, the principle of it all is what’s ridiculous. You have 3 guys who played for OR, coached for OR, and went to school @ OR, not to mention 1 having a son that went to and starred at OR - coaching at a school that is OR’s arch nemesis, while teaching at OR. Whether Clinton has any positions available or not is beside the point really. Like I said, RIDICULOUS. If you love them that much, then wait for a position at Clinton to open, or better yet, just leave the OR school system altogether and go teach somewhere else.

  3. If you wanna Coach @ Clinton, then take your a$& there and teach, too. I don’t get it.

  4. Congratulations to y’all and thanks. Time to get bigger and stronger. Hopefully we make it back next year.

  5. I apologize if my comments got misunderstood. I was just asking to make sure and get some more information. I looked it up and saw what he said. I could certainly see why that would add a little more juice and motivate Walter Nolen a little more. All comments in this thread were fair.

  6. I want iterate how good East Nashville was. Alcoa was on their heels several times. It took a good team that's played in big games to maintain their composure. The momentum could have easily changed early in that ball game and also the first drive for EN coming out of halftime. The Eagles score and cut the lead to 28-14. Alcoa dug deep and responded well. I am glad they did not panic, and pulled away when they HAD to. The EN team speed was very noticeable. The are fast on Offense and Defense. They had some special teams miscues, but as a whole played very discipline football. Congratulations to the East Nashville Eagles for making it to the Championship game and playing a hard fought game! Much respect!

  7. Just my opinion but I think East Nashville was a better team than Giles offensively and defensively. Giles may be better on special teams after seeing the miscues on punts today for EN but they made Alcoa work today. And Amarion Ford for EN is a heck of a running back.

  8. I can’t see Witten going anywhere until his son graduates high school. All of these feeder teams are stacked with talent all the way back to his sons team. Then I think if he was to go anywhere …. He might try the college level somewhere. Just my opinion

  9. 10. Thank you, much appreciated! Just happy they finally got over the hump! And agreed on Page, those dudes will not quit and left it all out there. Nothing to hang their heads about

  11. Wonder if they’ve started on next years class yet? Any school that has a top 5 recruit on their team for next years class BEWARE. Josh Jones is coming for them all!

  12. Powell has to settle down and come out in second half and establish the running game.

  13. It was also good for them to play us last week. Physical football always improves the fundamentals.

  14. Oh yeah I told everyone that would listen that our former coach was in it for himself and didn't really care. Played with him and know he's really not a good guy. Fake as can be. Hope he looks back on this and see what these coaches did with his failure and regrets it for a long time. Bleeeeeep Jones

  15. Win or lose those young men deserve everyone's respect. Not a Wes or Heath fan but those two men stepped up and brought some young boys in to manhood. Paige said that at halftime. Pride doesn't even describe what this old time Pirate feels. It is great day to be a Pirate.

  16. Much appreciated lawnman! Go Cyclones!

  17. Thanks Pride. We overcame a lot and most folks across the state counted us out through the playoffs and definitely this game. Our defense came alive when it mattered the most. And even more than that our Senior Mr Football Finalist ended with the MVP of the game with 19 carries 170 yards I can’t remember for sure. Great job. Once again, Once a Pirate Always a Pirate.

  18. Heath Grider did an excellent job with the defense taking over mid season like he did. These coaches took over 5 games into the season!

  20. Congratulations not only on a great win but coming right back after losing a handful of once in a lifetime players from last year's team and made it look as if it hadn't happened. Major difference I saw was discipline and that's from great coaching. Impressive win and I had no doubt especially after watching the replay from last week. When I posted the who will win Alcoa or COVID it actually was a compliment because I knew inside why they cancelled. Hope everyone that went had a great time and I do think Alcoa is a top 3 team in all public schools.

  21. SP = South Pittsburg crowd. Don't know the guys name. Just know that a "grown man" from SP likes to call opposing players out by name and talk crap to kids...

  22. The difference here is that we are talking about 2 separate school systems. It happens a lot in Knox County, but that is all within the same system. Being paid to coach in region against the school that provides your paycheck? Only in Oak Ridge would we let this happen. It's beyond ridiculous. It's Asinine! Another thing, in many systems in our state, the teaching and coaching are tied together. You lose your teaching job, you're out as coach. Lose your coaching job, out as teacher too. I'm not saying this is right or wrong but it is true. This makes it much easier for the HC to put together a quality staff that he wants. On a side note: Clinton screwed the pooch when they poached the SD kids. They went hunting in the wrong back yard. Stay tuned to that one.

  24. Let’s just say it’d be like former Powell players that also coached and went to school there, teaching at Powell, while coaching against them with Halls. I’m sure that would go over like a turd in a fruit bowl, same as what I mentioned with our former players. It’s one thing to do it with 2 different teams, but when those 2 teams are arch - rivals? Nah. There’s just no loyalty anymore, and really that’s more of an indictment against our culture as a whole, than just this one instance. It pervades all sports, and the society in general.

  25. Pulling for Powell tonight. They have looked really tough through the playoffs. I know that y'alls fans are very proud of your team... and rightfully so. Take care of business guys.

  26. Hats off to Page. Just a tremendous effort tonight, and if it weren't for those fumbles in the first quarter, we might have seen a different result. Jake can flat out play. He put the entire team on his back, just like last week, and almost found a way to win. Tip of the cap to Mr. McNamara and the Patriots.

  27. Yes supportive parenting is always a great thing. Questioning the coaching of your son’s team publicly doesn’t set a good example for him or the other young men, IMO. (Even though they really aren’t very good coaches, did you see the Catholic game?) Investing resources and living vicariously through your son is a fine line I suppose. But agree to disagree!

  33. Wasn’t hardcore, but definitely a call out of sorts. It’s been shared on Twitter a few times. It originated on a Page YouTube channel interview. Walter took notice and retweeted that specific portion. As a former player, I would’ve taken it the same way.

Scott Meadows 70% 2. Bill Satterfield 42% 3. Bobby White 40% Points Scored 1. Bill Satterfield 1581 2. Bobby White 915 3. Don Kerley 696 Points Against 1. Bill Satterfield 1693 2. Bobby White 1224 3. David Staff 30 School has a 33% winning percentage overall. His teams always played hard and looked prepared to me. My question for you is how did you watch practices? Practices were closed when my son played.

  37. I wasn’t surprised because I expected this game to be similar with the running games and turnovers as well as special teams returns. The difference that I was curious to see was what would happen on a dry field because DCAs passing attack led by Gaines, Sneed, and Maglia is excellent. Not to mention an O-line led IMO by the best center in the history of the school in Aiden Francis opened holes and protected very well. When Paul Wade came to DCA four years ago I believed the talent was there to win a gold ball and said so on here. He started four 8th graders on his first team and all four were major contributors this year. Add in a handful of players that came to DCA to play for a guy who had 10 rings and the potential was there for this result. Coach Wade methodically and meticulously built this team from the ground up. Wade has been called by some on here as an “opportunist” and it’s been said he “puts himself in good positions to win” to minimize his coaching accomplishments. Well, he just rebuilt a program that went 0-10 his 1st year to outscoring the three other preseason favorites (Friendship Christian, USJ, and NCS) 120-21. Ive known coach Wade over 40 years and he was my fathers favorite player as a kid because he always gave his best effort and was relentless in his pursuit of winning. He now has his 4th ring as a head coach and 11th overall so the guy deserves to be mentioned as one of the best in the state. Put away forever all the excuses folks try to use to distract from what the results clearly show. His teams are always disciplined and play an intense, hard nosed style that mirrors their head coach. Sure it takes talent to win but without scheming, preparation, and the complete effort as a program, led by the head coach, gold balls don’t happen. One last thing, and this deserves special mention. I’d like to personally thank my good friend David Braemer, the headmaster at Ensworth. I’ve spent many hours with you over the years watching our daughters play soccer all over the US. When DCAs TN hall of fame coach Dennis Goodwin retired we discussed Paul Wade. You told me how Paul would be a “great fit at DCA.” What I told you very bluntly was he was a great fit anywhere and that you guys (Ensworth), including Ricky Bower’s, made a HUGE mistake by not hiring him as your head coach. Looks like we were both right. Congrats to NCS on a great season and to coach Brothers on building your program into a perennial contender. Congrats to Coach Wade, his staff, and the players on a remarkable and magical season.

  38. Don’t think Witten is going anywhere because now that he has control over all the youth league from kids own up this program is only going to get better for years to come.I think your right about the DB job but I am so glad it didn’t happen.

  39. Congratulations to East Nashville on a great season. Alcoa will win big. Other than Oakland Alcoa is the best team Maryville played this year. In 3A Football Alcoa is a great white shark and the rest of 3A is seals.

  40. Wow, lots of post about the terrible officiating and shoulda, coulda woulda's, that screwed our team....this is not directed at Maryville but complainers in general, I bet there wasn't a handful of post saying the same thing in games when they were the benefactor of these bad calls. The truth is it goes both ways, you will be the beneficiary of calls both in your favor and against you all year long. Bad calls don't only exist in the playoffs and don't change momentum only in big games. For those that played at any level, understand that overcoming adversity is what defines championship season.
