  1. Posted by an Oak Ridge Wildcat player on a Social Media website.... " One game does not determine a whole season. " The player then went on to ENCOURAGE his teammates to work harder. It has become clear there are many different types of Oak Ridge fans on CoachT.com.... ~~ All are OakRidge fans ~~ Some are optimistic ~~ Some are pessimistic ~~ Some are both optimistic and pessimistic ~~ Some are concerned about specific parts of the team " One game does not determine a whole season. " His he right or wrong??? Has the cement really dried on the 2019 Oak Ridge season after one game??? I AM ON THE OAK RIDGE SHIP FOR THE WHOLE SEASON! Will there be some tough times ahead? Will my heart get broken? Possibly but I am going to take the risk. Doing it my way will make every WIN taste sweeter. Every loss a little more bitter to swallow. But darn it, I only have one life to live so I am going to live it to the fullest. RWR! You Got This and I got Your Back! Who is riding on the 2019 Wildcat Ship with me???

  2. This will be the last post I post about a transfer. If they’re here and they came the wrong way then report it and quit talking about it.

  4. I just feel like DB has more speed and a bigger more experienced line. I hope OR proves me wrong and pulls out a win!

  5. Yeah I definetly see us giving Beech a good game. As long as we see improvement that's all you can ask. Omaha is right we could quite possibly be the best 6-4 or 7-3 team in the state come playoff time. By the time playoffs start the freshman QB will be a lot more settled and who knows we may pull of a few wins in the playoffs. Either way its Henry County Football and it excites me regardless. These coaches will figure it out. Our coach always preaches that's why he schedules tough opponents in the non region so they can show you what you need to work on and get better at. It's absolutely true! So be it if we go 6-4 or 7-3. Haywood showed us we need pretty good work on the o-line. So let's work there and get that headed in a positive direction which I know the coaching staff will. With Counce, Jelks, and Muench I feel like by the last half of the season u wont recognize the o-line from week 1.

  6. He actually throws a beautiful ball, but it’s something he will have to get more consistent with. He threw an ugly flutter in our jamboree that ended up being picked off, and then bounced back and threw a 30-yard dime for a touchdown the very next series. He’s still coming into his own regarding arm strength.

  8. If Oak Ridge went 4-6 would anything happen. I remember back after Emory Hale moved on the people of Oak Ridge put a lot of unbelievable pressure on everyone after. I'm just curious not living over there and wondering if the fans over there have softened up.

  10. I'll eat my crow, boys. I'm a little biased, to say the least, when it comes to my football program. When you've won for as many years as the Patriots have, you become accustomed to it. I'm always going to believe that we are going to beat the competition, week in, week out. That's just the way it is. No disrespect intended in my predictions, just pride in our program's history of success.

  11. Were you not around in 2009? That was the slowest OR team and it wasn't even close. We are certainly slower than the past several years. I agree with the post above, don't let the first game define your season. 2 years ago, we got waxed by Farragut with a sub-par effort on both sides of the ball. I told my son that you and your fellow seniors need to get together and decide what kind of team you were going to be. They met as players on the following Sunday and decided to salvage their season and finished strong. This team can do the same. They are much better players than they showed Friday night.

  12. They're always bigger and this year they'll be faster. But OR will hopefully find a way to win

  13. U are right. He may have a few balls that dont look the best but I have seen him throw some dimes on the money. The good part he is a FRESHMAN! lol I will take it! Kid has talent no doubt.

  14. Nope great coach at Fairley !! He has totally turned that program around and kept the big schools from poaching his kids as well!!

  15. Only saying this because Beech beat Northside by either 14 or 15 and I am sure that Haywoods defense is better than Beech's right now. Beech scored 35 and I think. Haywood 42 Northside 14

  16. Ahhh give it a week or two and they'll get it worked out!! haha

  17. Only saying that because of HC losing a lot of seniors from last years team. Either way 5a doesn’t have much depth past the top 5-6... With Oak Ridge at 7 that further proves my point, OR fans have been having a heart attack since they lost that scrimmage to Maryville mercy rule style.

  21. Gibson County barely beat a bad Obion Central ball Club and could only put seven points on the board against them. Pioneers should not even sniff the top 10. If the truth hurts, so be it.

  22. Greenfield has the best team in Single A, but you still have to beat Karley Weathers and Loretto...

  28. Yea i don’t think any of blades teams had a lot of speed might’ve had individuals with some speed like fludd, hall, gray, Moore but overall not really any speed they were jus well coached teams good defenses. Even with blade OR lost to hva that OR team made it to the 4th round of playoffs I’m not counting this years team out just yet

  31. I think / hope they will respond as well, but I think Nolensville is going to make some noise in 4A this year and will just be to much for us this week! Again, as long as we compete we will be fine win or lose. The real season begins next week.

  32. I'm ready to see this staff keep proving it. I got very aggravated with the last staff. The team would play up or down to whatever the competition looked like. If you get a chance to blow a team out, don't be afraid to do it. Playing reserved is what puts you in very bad situations.

  33. No fears, These coaches will go to work and figure it out. I hate calling it an upset, but HC gets in the win column this week.

  35. REBELRON: I do think that there are differences, but its hard to tell quite honestly. Alcoa has proven over the recent decade how elite of a program they have become. Others like Greeneville and Fulton, that I have never seen play, have had their day. The Melrose of the 90's, that witnessed up close and personal. You could argue for each under their own merits. So when I hear a 'casual fan' ask, "How on earth did Whitehaven lose to little ole Lausanne?" Whitehaven will never live that down in some folks minds. I immediately know how knowledgeable of a fan I'm engaging in conversation, and have to remind myself literally to not get to upset with their lack of understanding.

  36. I say again. We always play close games with Oak Ridge. Oak Ridge may lose 3 of 1st 4 but still will contend for a region championship, hence #1 seed. The south is not as good (yet Rhea County Offense always is tough to deal with) and to get to round 4 OR has to beat Region teams. I seen it with HVA a couple of years ago. Got on a roll then competed losing to Oakland. I know it's a long way from playoffs but I post this to say be patient with this team. BUT you should of won it all last year (not a jab just a football fan) you had the best team in 5A. As others said it's just game one.

  37. Need to use the kids arm as well as his legs. He can throw a baseball 90 mph and throws a pretty football too. Huntingdon has kids who know how to catch and a senior heavy line. Open up the playbook and THROW THE BALL! 12-0 looks great against a weak schedule (TBD on how good Milan and Camden are) but when it comes playoff time Lake Co will be ready for the run every play. Ain't that right Falcons?

  38. Yes, by all means pat yourself on the back for WC beating a struggling 4A team. They don't even play a team with a pulse till the middle of the season. 90% of the teams in 6A could go 6-4 with that schedule

  39. I just think it sad tc has have 2 bi weeks because no opponent but same time its a football rich program right next door to tc and would been a great gate for both schools

  40. AE plays lights out and their best game against Alcoa. It will be no different this year. AE's Ligons, WR and QB Foster are some great play makers. The game maybe for district home field advantage?

  42. Truth is Waverly played like crap. The OL which was supposed to be great laid a big fat egg. Boldin said it best in an interview the week before. He hopes the OL plays as good as they think they are... and they didnt. To be senior stacked on the OL and DL they sure didn’t look like it. Running down field turning around looking for someone to block and not blocking anyone. Not staying on blocks. With the size and strength Waverly has up front and in their backs, Waverly should have been able to run at free will. No we don’t have a JD Dixon or anything remotely close but we have size and strength and experience in our OL and Backs. I’d be feeding Stewart and G Stanfield the rock and put a good boot up the OL butt. In defense of Boldin (Vandy) I’d say his game plan was shot when the QB went out. I’d say his offensive scheme for his big package with Stanfield at QB was minimal. So for him to have to run a non QB for the entire rest of the game probably was not prepared for that, hence they play calling. I’d say they will be better prepared in the future if Brooks goes down again. Turnovers killed Waverly in the first half. If not for the pick 6 this game would be different, along with 2 fumbles lost. Camden was not good. Waverlys defensive secondary was non existent. There was no one within 5 yards of a receiver. And did not set the Edge well with run. A lot to fix and clean up. I know Boldin is a great coach and will do well. He will get things that need to be fixed fixed. But I do not believe it will be enough to stop Huntingdons offense. Luckily for Waverly Region play is pretty weak.

  43. I talked to three plus dozen people ON the field that saw the samething I did. #21 was even bigger back than #1, but not as fast. They where going to that same edge after they hit that long run. Watch the adjustments after the half! If you can't see the difference in the assignments and schemes there no need to explain anymore to you. They rotated #1 to both sides scheming, brought #86, #64 from the oline. Much different look. Completely shut them down.Blackmen RB went out because of heat exhaustion. He was dog whipped tired. Alcoa, came out fired up ready you win this game. There is no quit in that team. We had some of that line at our table after the game.....they got together and told themselves that they where going to do better and stop them. They knew they need to rally hard in the second half and they DID! Heart brother.....bring that #1 in......they where ready to shut him DOWN! I heard it straight from the horse's mouth Blackman had a big line both Offensively and Defensively, with 105 plays dressed out and on the field before the game. Probably as big a line as Alcoa will see till DB travels to Alcoa in game ten. Big and depth did not over come heart in the game I watched! "Alcoa took it to them Defensively in the second half".......a Blackman fans words....not mine! That game will help a bunch moving forward!

  44. Some good points here. We probably do match up better with Beech from a pure athleticism standpoint than we did with Haywood, but it’s not a given, and they will also very likely be much more disciplined along line of scrimmage than Haywood. I think Beech is a prohibitive favorite here, but a close, 1 score game would not surprise me. Like I said, we usually play them tough, and I have always heard that a team sees its greatest leap in improvement between games 1 and 2, so we shall see.

  47. Alcoa is a 3A team. Doesn't matter how good they are or who they beat. In the eyes of the masses, not the knowledgeable, a good 6A team should never lose to a 3A team. That's why it is seldom done. The 6A team has more to lose then just a game, while the 3A team has everything to gain. Again, hat's off to Blackman for scheduling the game.

  48. Not sure that'll ever happen. Stevens is a guy the principal can control. So until they're both gone, the problems are going to remain the same. Woodward seems like a good coach, but a program can't do well when you have a weak HC
