This game last year was the turning point for Fayetteville's season in my opinion. I attended this game last year. It was my 1st trip ever to Frog Bottom. City was up 14-0 and was driving with their first possession of the 2nd half. Had the ball 1st and goal. Then on 2nd and goal a City player was suplexed. So City responded. And after City players left the 'bench' area and the white hat stepped off the yardage it was 3rd and 62. Say what? Yes, it was 3rd and 62. False start next play made it 3rd & 67. Anyway, City held on for a 14-7 crazy hard fought victory and wrapped up the region championship. The next game City was minus 4-5 key players and lost to Gordonsville by 7. I brought all this up to state an opinion of mine that I've been wanting to make for a little while. This game last year was the turning point for Fayetteville. Yes, they lost composure and had several ejected. But they held on and pulled out the victory. Since that game they have played better assignment football, more disciplined and are better prepared. Anyway, good luck to both teams. I'd like to attend but I'm headed to GA Friday.3 points

Through 6 games Karns RB Desean Bishop has a total of 1819 yards. He is averaging 303 yards per game. With 4 regular season games remaining, he will need to average 303 per game. He might get a 5th game if the Beavers make the post season. I am cheering him on to get to this goal. He has been amazing to watch his first 3 years and I think you will start to see D1 offers pile in. He seems to never wear down and his motor is extremely high. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me.2 points

Until consolidation in 1969, there were two schools playing football ;E.W, Grove High and Central High, a countywide black school .. Five other schools (grades1-12) did not have football programs. Inman, a city middle school, had the only football in the count until the mid seventies when football was introduced in all these schools ( grades 1-8 ) Grove became a county wide 9th grade with a football program. A very successful youth program has a long standing and ongoing history. The county schools now play a consolidated program. GO BIG RED2 points

Fairview always has a good team but since this is a first time meeting, they probably don’t realize that WH usually always have a homefield “advantage.” I say WH by enough to win.2 points

Absolutely! I did not mean to take anything away from De'Sean. He is the real deal! But like you said about Mobley only playing the first half... it's apples and oranges. If Mobley played four quarters for fifteen games, 4k would've been totally possible. Powell was so good in those days. I had just moved to Knoxville a couple years earlier and was spoiled with the HS ball around here during that time!2 points

Absolutely. My passion sometimes comes off the wrong way and I will most definitely be watching what I say and how I say it from now on.1 point

I fully accept your apology but also want you to know that you have nothing to apologize for on my behalf. I do apprciate the effort to smooth things over however. I feel like both of our fanbases have passion and love our football programs. I will be the 1st to admit, I get all up in my emotions over the Springfield Yellow Jackets. I have deep family roots going all the way back to the 1930s. It just means a lot to us, so I believe we all understand one another, that is why I try to be respectful on here...1 point

100% some people get a little uptight! I’m with Brian…..Springfield is the under dog playing in Paris and not playing that tough of a schedule this far. Just hoping for an injury free hard fought game from both sides.1 point

I completely understand. But you still haven't denied that you were aided by referee confusion during that play. Honestly it also speaks towards the coaches being confused as well because they were taking their time calling a play with no concern for the field playclock or the "magical" playclock that the referee is using Figures.......... Sitting in the stands doesn't make you any better than than the endzone gang. That just means you drink more of the Tide Kool-Aid than the rest1 point

Grove High and Central High for sure played football. Outside of Paris there was: Henry Puryear Cottage Grove Springville Buchanan I don't know if any of those 5 had football but they all had basketball.1 point

Here we go again. Everybody in Knox County plays in those margins. Period. If you believe otherwise you are delusional. And I have asked a dozen times what Powell is allegedly doing to get kids there that nobody else is. Specifics, please. Otherwise you are just like everybody else throwing out allegations without anything substantial to back them. And I repeat that I haven't talked to anybody connected to the Powell program in months, back to the early spring, so I am not in the mindset to "defend" anybody.1 point

Looking forward to a great game. Two evenly match teams in a HUGE district game.1 point

Hey @olddevil, what were the names of the high schools in Henry County that played football before the consolidated county school started playing in 1969?1 point

LC is a contender-We found out last week that WC is a Pretender. Good team but not up to the higher standards of a Mckenzie, Peabody , Lake County , South Pitt, and Fayetteville1 point

Couldn't agree more, OSU. Those 5A defenses are an absolute train wreck. Coach Shadowens could rush for 1K in some of those regions. I think if he was at the 6A level in Region 2 or 3 (not Region 1-6A aka the ACC) specifically, he'd hit 1500. Depends on the non-region competition though as well, I suppose. If I were him or his parents, I would sit next year or try my damndest to enroll early. Maybe take an NIL deal with his 5Star fan boy, Jesse.1 point

What about common matchups? They have played each other multiple times at different programs.1 point

What type of offense do Karns run? Bishop right and bishop left?? Genius! Good luck to the Beavs this year!1 point

It took Scott quite some time to turn West into a winner, but he ultimately did it. I would argue that he was sitting on a diamond mind which certainly helped. West has always had talent, but they underachieved for a number of years prior to his arrival, and even early in his tenure. Lamar Brown is no slouch though. Morristown West has been absolute trash since he left; prior to this season, Mo West won a total of 9 games after his departure. Brown has also been able to do what Jeff Harig couldn't after Scott's departure.1 point

Out of both schedules take out the outlier of Maryville and Alcoa and what do you have. I will give props to Knox West, I am high on them especially after the battle they gave Alcoa. But Powell, I've never been high on. Powell has beat a 2-4 4A Anderson County team, did not score majority of the points against Maryville until starters came out, and beat Halls by one score.1 point

Agree. TC players feed off our fans. Our fans feed off noise from the opposite stands. Every team deserves support from their fans.1 point

The Hardin County tandem of Kaydin Pope (31 ypc) and Seth Garner (19 ypc) have combined for 1350 yards and 22 TD through 6 games with a sophomore QB. It's very tough to scheme them both. Pope has multiple SEC offers and Garner is committed to Memphis for baseball.1 point

I think they’ll be focused. This is a must win to host a playoff game if Cannon counts as a loss.1 point

I am still going to say Knox West will be coming out of the East, the west who knows.1 point

You're a real tough guy talking ish about high school kids.........they laid down? You're pathetic. And there's nothing to dispute. I learned a long time ago that you can't argue with an idiot, which you clearly are. I tell ya what, go to today's practice and introduce yourself to the Forrest coaches. Let them know that you know way more about their team then they do. Do you not want them to succeed? I'm sure they'd love the help of the resident football guru. What ya scared of? Do it. Won't hurt to try. But of course you won't, because you're a typical cowardly internet troll/tough guy!!!!!! AKA a clown.1 point

Just got out of the Gainesboro jail after that lousy PA announcer didn’t like how I taunted him after the Indians came in and embarrassed those Jackson County losers. Since I have been gone, it looks like the boys have toughened up and started playing some Squatch Ball. I knew those cans of Skoal Mint I sent to the field house would help put some hair on their chest and give them the ability to lay some devastating downhill blocks. All I know is some Indians will be sinking some Viking Ships this week. I can’t wait to be back on the fence line Friday night and celebrating at Green’s Tavern.1 point

Greeneville is very fast and to me is just a matter of their QB and receivers connecting enough to also open up some running Lanes with a very talented running back they have.If that happens and Greeneville is able to get off the field on the defense side,it could be ugly.Your correct on the other hand if coach Christian and all those good coaches that I've known for a long time can keep the Devil defense out there and maybe cause a few turnovers,it could be a very close and tossup game.Greeneville also has a second QB who is just as effective in the passing game if not more so.So yes the Devils have size and speed as well as being greatly coached and some depth.DB is a 6a school and depth should however be to their advantage tonight. We will all find out in a few hours if something unforseen doesn't happen.1 point

I haven't been able to watch much footage of the Greeneville HS Greene Devils this year. Are they as good as what I have read in the media? If so, what are are their strong suits? I know that Coach Christian always does a great job of creating a physical, down hill running attack that may stress Greeneville and force them to play some different structured coverages and add an extra run defender to the core. If this happens, I expect D-B to take advantage of them in the pass game. I have, however, been able to view some Science Hill footage over the past few weeks. I must agree that they stand no chance vs. the Maryville Rebels. Maryville is on a collision course with Murfreesboro Oakland in late November. Coach Hunt has some absolute gutsy ball players on both sides of the ball. Science Hill does a good job of getting the ball in athletes hands. Coach Carter is always creative in his play design and utilization of multiple personnel groupings. However, Maryville's stingy defense will swarm and match their athletic ability. Their safety #1 is the real deal.1 point

Are you trolling or being honest? Squatch county would be lucky to be top 10 in single A let alone 3a. Sounds like you and your uncle Charlie have more in common than you think.1 point
