  1. RD 1 4 Dyer Co @ 1 Henry Co 3 Portland @ 2 Southwind 4 Northeast @ 1 Munford 3 Memphis C. @ 2 Springfield This is how I see the 1st Rd shaping up. Im assuming that NE beats Kenwood on Friday that gets them in. I think Munford beats Memphis Central as well.

  2. Then it was Maryville… LoL you comparing what your team did to what Maryville has accomplished over the last 20 plus years is hilarious… Maryville finally having a year or 2 where they might not be quite what they’ve been before doesn’t mean anything’s over . It’s amazing that Maryville has just reloaded year after year and sooner or later there had to come a time when the talent level overall might be a little lower. My bet is nothings over and we’re gonna be back to a Championship game before you are … I could be wrong but who knows

  4. Was just listening to Thunderbolt radio interviewing the area coaches and they ask South Fulton coach about the numbers and he said he'd seen them but would keep his opinions about them to himself.Would be willing to bet he was referring to Union City.

  5. Thanks Stars. Have to admit that was a tough one. Maryville gave us everything we could ask for - which makes me laugh when people say you are “down”. It speaks volumes about your program. If one or two breaks go a different way, the outcome changes. Praying for 0, hope it’s not as bad as it looked. Mrs. Meritiii would definitely have enjoyed this season to date. Hope we can live up to the hype and finish it out. Did not pull for you tonight, but always pull for our fellow Rebels for the every other game. Your program has set the bar for where every other program wants to be. Glad Maryville and West will continue the series.

  8. Well, if Covington meets East Nashville, I will worry about that game when it happens. You gripe a lot about Covington for somebody who is apparently an outsider. I have followed this team since 1982 when my first child entered high school. Since then I have missed attending maybe 8 or 9 games that Covington has played. That’s home, away, playoffs, or bowl games. I like our current coaching staff and don’t appreciate somebody coming on Coach T and disparaging them. You may not know that Covington is a 3A school. That means that we have fewer students than 4A Haywood and 5A Munford. That means we have a smaller talent pool. Despite that, Covington had beat Munford 4 years in a row when they managed to transfer in enough outside talent this year to get a win. Haywood is a great team this year. They embarrassed the 4A teams in their region with blowout wins. They are not so tough every year. Covington beat them in Brownsville two years ago. Right now they have hit an optimum combination of good talent and good coaching to be great. You are searching if you want to criticize our 3A team for losing to them. Show me a team that has beat them this year. We made a respectable showing. Covington played Alcoa to a standstill the last time we made the title game. They had to score in the last two minutes to beat us by 7 points. How well did East Nashville or Pearl Cohn do vs Alcoa? They got blown out - that’s how. So, if you continue to run down my team, I don’t care if you never darken the door of our stadium again. Go find another team to critique negatively.

  10. Eubanks made a great tough run and was not trying to show anyone up. He was just excited. I believe it was on 4th down and got a first. 15 yard flag. Driggers made a equally tough run and gave the same motion. No flag. I don’t blame either for being passionate in big moments. Just be consistent. It kind of played into Huntingdons favorite as they were trying to run time off the clock. The play at the half…..I heard Peabody fans on a call in show after the game saying it was no time on the clock. Huntingdon clearly called a time out with time on the clock. The clock keeper was awfully slow stopping the clock for Huntingdon and on top of his job when Peabody needed it.

  12. Oh I dont make your top 5 list??Thanks man.LOL only cause we dont go to bed mad at each other. You nailed it tho we all disagree from time to time but we always have each other's back when it gets rowdy. I remember the first time I met @gcapride.The folks on our side said theres a guy looking of OnB we didnt tell him who you are.Few minutes later guy came back,(he was on the field) went down the fence asking for OnB.I said I'm over here,he said we are having dinner at the half we would love for you to eat with us.Of course I was the terror for GCA back then and I said NO WAY.You sweatervesters will get me up there and jump me.LOL. Few years later they invited me and GFD and we went and had a great time. All those folks said they hated me in 10 thru 13.But they loved reading it.Pride is a good one!! Then after a Coalfield game up there our Oline coach came and said the Henry bros asked for me to come to the field house,I said NOPE!Those were two big ole boys.I wouldnt have been seen again.lol

  14. I don't know who #2 is, but I'm sure the coaches have a reason why he's not playing more. I admit I didn't understand the coach's reasoning for going for it on 4th down in his territory, down 9 with that much time left. Obviously he felt like they could get a first down there, and I'm sure he regretted it after it failed. I wouldn't have attempted it under those circumstances - but that's me. The only thing the DC had a right to be livid about is his defense giving up 49 points.

  16. Yep. That’s why I’m a fan of 4 classes. 8 regions at 8 or so teams each. 60-70 teams per class and roughly top half (32) go to post season. This crap of 32 out of 35-40 making the “cut” has softened Tennessee high school ball dramatically. “Making” the playoffs was an accomplishment up until the Z plan fiasco and the 6 classification garbage. Now terrible teams are celebrating their “accomplishments” and their below average production is rewarded. It has bred a culture of mediocrity across all regions and classes with the exception of a very few programs.

  17. Needs to play non region. No that wouldn’t guarantee wins either but very tough to play their own size schools right now.

  18. I sincerely wish Covington would play up to 4A and be in our region next year. It’s just not right to me not having Covington, Ripley and Dyersburg in our region. Ripley and Dyersburg are both cowards for not keeping us on their schedule.

  21. You are right I actually have some good friends that have kids playing for Huntingdon. But those few fans classless and totally disrespectful. Thanks BPM it will be a battle for sure. We love underdog status.

  23. Covington can beat teams with far less talent, but they simply cannot beat teams with equal or more talent than them. They run an offense with zero scheme and the coaching staff does very little to put the team in advantageous situations when playing better teams. It seems as if the game plan last night was to run the ball up the middle and then hopefully use that to open up other parts of the offense. A blind man could have seen that Covington was not going to run the ball up the middle consistently on Haywood. The Covington coaching staff is fine but they are in over their heads when it comes to trying to out scheme a team better than them. They simply cannot do it. It’s been that way since Coach Wheeler left for East Tennessee. I’m not sure Covington has won a game where they were at a talent disadvantage since then. haywood is a great team, and there is no reason to hang your heard when losing to them, but I expect more out of Covington as an outsider and I’m sure their fans do as well. If 8/9 regular season wins is the goal, then you will get that ever year at Covington. If state championship appearances is the goal, good luck. That’s not happening.

  24. I was very glad to see Powell hang on last night and beat Cherokee Country Club West and get that interception to cement that win. Was starting to get worried when they crossed the 50 yard line. I just don't like store bought teams.

  25. Thats fair, I would say though the goal for WR isnt beating the Knoxville teams its beating DB and SH. 8-2 needs to be 9-1 or even 10-0 every once in a while.

  26. A fast, athletic team. Offensively, I'm sure what they do what works against their usual schedule, but just too predictable for a team equally athletic and fast like Haywood. In all honesty, the score really wasn't really indicative of how dominant Haywood was. At one point, it was 34-3 and the clock was running before Haywood took the foot off the gas. I think they can make a run in Class 3, but have very little chance unless they open it up and use their athletic advantage. But I do respect them for playing Haywood and hopefully this will continue, but I think the chances are slim and none.

  27. Great job of LC coaches adapting and getting the most out of what they have to work with. Rather than try to be something they don’t have the talent to be, they found a way to have success with their limited talent. Lined up in heavy single wing formation and just pounded the ball by putting more bodies at the point of attack than Heritage had. Ate up the clock and just methodically worked their way down the field. Loved the old school approach.

  28. Good game high school football game. Powell made the plays they needed to win. Catholic didn’t help themselves dropping not one but two wide open TDS. The first one was right in front of me and couldn’t have been any easier or wide open for a short pass. Catholic has struggled up front all year which has made it tough to throw the ball or get much from the running game. Interesting call on the almost interception with the Powell player. He clearly made the catch initially but the receiver definitely tied him up before they hit the ground and pulled it from him. The Catholic penalty and giving up the sack before the last play took away the chance for a game winning FG. I was a little surprised at the inaccuracy of the Powell QB. I thought Green would have dominated our DBs who have struggled all year. As somebody said earlier, we gave up 300+ yards last week to a 3rd string QB.

  36. Unlike someone else we know , no one goes missing from Maryville after a loss . Maryville definitely lost to the better team tonight ... It has been a long time since i've seen a Maryville team this out of sorts . It seems we have no plan on containment on Defense anymore ... Defensive Ends used to contain the Edge ... I'm not sure about our plan ... we're too busy most plays dancing around trying to decide if we're gonna play a 3 man line or not and some times we're not even ready when the ball snaps . Offensively it might have been a good idea to hand the ball off to Ladue every now and then before Vaughn got hurt ... but he was too busy being a glorified guard I guess . If our offensive Game plan now is handing off up the middle every play we might as well go into a Rhino/ Wildcat package and put the ball in both Ladue and Vaughn's hands every play with 9 blockers ... Hope both young men are ok , they both played their hearts out ! It's amazing to me how many times we've been totally confused and not knowing what to do when the time is running down like at the end of the first half , running around like a Chinese fire drill seems to be our plan now . Might as well mention the Extra points too ... that's basically a coaching issue when you're incapable of kicking an extra point . Congrats to West on the big win , go get that Gold Ball now !

  41. Every year this region is bad. Central won back to back championships and the region was bad. West will most likely win the state this year and the region is bad. Goes to my point, strengthen of schedule means nothing. You have the horses or you don't!

  43. Should be a good game. Against Creek Wood Greenbrier was down both starting offensive tackles (one due to injury one due to ejection the previous game). Both of those players are also starters on D-Line and both were back last week vs. Pearl. They were big losses in the Creek Wood game.
