As A coach it's about teaching life lessons and holding kids accountable for their actions. In week 4 h20 has a star player miss practice and TC had a star player get a DUI .Webster sit h20s player at DC for 1 qtr and Satt played TC player every snap at gville. We have got to be here and love on these kids and not throw them away but we must also teach them so they want make the same mistake again.

Sometimes what the kids like, don't necessarily translate into better. Richard Anderson tried the Michigan stripes on the helmets….flop Dirty Birds? Dirty ….really?. Owls Nest? The only thing in a nest is eggs and/or bird crap. I know, I'm out of date and out of tune.... evidently

Don't blame you for doing a little crowing this year .You have heard it from a few of the Devil fans for years.I just call it the way I see it. AC has went hunting for a 1000 pound Green Bear and forgot to take a weapon over the last few years except one .Yes,I think the one year your QB got hurt was your year and that was sad. This year right out of the gate with the Devils giving up points like we have not seen in a long time and with a very young team,AC has it's weapons and this Green bear has just came out of hibernation and only weighs about 200 pounds. So,if AC get's it done,that's fine and I wish them the best going forward because there is a 1500 pound bear in Elizabethton.

You were saying how Knox has done a good job marketing and telling people that 5A runs through K-town and the point is that they are not wrong.Beating Powell was great for WV but you said WV put everybody on notice that Knox aint all that.Just saying WV gonna have to get thru a lot more Knox area teams b4 that is true.I was one of few saying I thought WV had a good chance to beat Powell but it has nothing to do with Knox area teams being overrated and more to do with WV playing good at the right time.

I believe the first half will be close then one team pulls away late in the 3rd. I’m gonna give this one to coaches, and I believe that Ryan man is a better 2nd half coach than that Henry man.

I would like to also go on record as saying I hope Covington is healed up and beats the brakes off Milan.

I personally like Burley. Nice place to watch a game and I’ve never been treated badly but then again they at least have seating for the visitors so not much interaction between fans. For the most part they are good people who love their team. Maybe you guys could get McDonalds to throw y’all a bone and get some seating on the visitors side and then everybody could keep their cousins to themselves lol. I'd say the presence and dominance of both Alcoa and Maryville have contributed to that as well. They raised the bar for the schools around them and in 4a/5a schools have responded.

Jimbob9, let's not totally discount high school ball. Yes, I am a hs coach, but I was a travel coach long before. My college roommate is an sec coach with an ncaa national championship- regarded as one of the best recruiters in softball. Conversations we have had even before i was a coach lead me to believe that there is definite value in playing high school ball. travel ball has changed recruiting- college coaches can go to a showcase tournament and see hundreds of prospects in a weekend as opposed to traveling to hundreds of different high school games, which happen to take place during the collegiate season. The argument has been made on this board so I won't rehash it. College coaches are recruiting parents and travel ball coaches as much as they are the players- so they have to tell them how important they are. When they call me they aren't worried about the perception of mom and dad- they want to know about the character of the kid. grades, can they lead (their hs teammates who aren't as experienced), whats their work ethic like and how do they handle obstacles. My last point- mom and dad driving 2 hours for a travel ball practice 2x/week is not commitment on the kids part. Staying after school for conditioning in the fall or volunteering to front toss to a teammate afterwards is.

No don’t know the exact number only an assumption. TSSAA is regulating the number of total tickets that are sold on GoFan. They are allowing 1/3 of the facility capacity to be sold for each game. So I will use this game as an example. Milan home side seats supposedly 3500 and visitor side 1000. When you go on GoFan to buy tickets it asks do you want to buy Covington or Milan tickets. I would assume there to be 333 Covington tickets for sale and 1167 Milan tickets for sale. That is my understanding of the way things are being done.

Good assessment. If Ripley can put a complete game together on both sides of the ball, look out. The Tigers have come a long way over the last couple of years no doubt about it. I heard the other day this is the first home playoff game for Ripley in a lot of years. I'm sure they will be stoked. Should be a great atmosphere and competitive game.

Don’t get me wrong I think West will win Friday, In fact I think West is the best 5A team in the east and will be in Cookeville next month. Besides West, the other remaining possible opponents would be Central, Oak Ridge, South Doyle, Rhea County, David Crockett and Halls. So yes, I think Walker Valley would have a good shot at beating anyone on that list. Hey that’s just my opinion, I don’t contend to know everything because if I did I would be working at NASA.

To me this is a great matchup, DB run D against McMinn run heavy offense. Don't let the McMinn QB fool you, the young man has a cannon. If DB can find success in the pass game, they have a chance to pull this one out. I watched DB and Alcoa game and felt they could be trouble for McMinn. Bradley went away from quick out and using the middle of the field against McMinn and became predictable offensively. If McMinn established that running attack it will be a tough night for DB because the McMinn run defense if tough as well.

IMO somewhere in these playoffs and it may be this weekend that we’re going to have one of those kids I mentioned step up like y’all had against us in the playoffs that no one was expecting. We shut down you all’s key players, but I believe it was number 11 that beat us with big plays. We have the kind of talent now that one of the kids that you wouldn’t expect to beat you ends up beating you and somewhere down the line we’ll have to have them show up and do just that!

Yawn, I've never sent anything that would hurt my team so I'm all good there that's what people do who appreciate anothers fanbase would do which is talk about their team and give appreciation for the other team man. All you do is bash other peoples teams and honestly I'm kinda tired of it. You saying our kid would only get 30 yards against a good defense is not only an insult to him but his team. I'll chalk that up to character if you know what that actually is.
