  1. my thoughts too , Maryville had a great chance to win that Alcoa game . Maryville just needs to cut out mistakes, they still have one of the best RBs to ever play at Maryville. I’ve seen Maryville teams look bad during the season only to come together as a team and play their best ball when it counted . This team needs leaders to step up , Maryville can win every game they have left , but not with the effort and mistakes they had last night . Knocking someone to the ground after the whistle has blown is a totally selfish thing to do , especially for a senior, not caring that it will hurt your team is selfish. Disciplined , unselfish Football has won a lot of Games for Maryville over the last 20 years and it still can today. I am surprised that this coaching staff hasn’t even thought of giving another Qb some meaningful Snaps , Maryville has usually always given the backup Qb meaningful snaps , and I don’t see how that could hurt us this year . Maybe a different look , a different style?

  2. To call a TD back for holding up the 1 finger as long as it’s not a bird finger!

  3. Yea If we could change one play in Jackets HC game Jackets would be undefeated.

  4. There are good points to that, and some bad ones...if you use a hard and fast cutoff number, who sets it? There's potential for some underhandedness in setting the cutoff on the front end, and even more for "adjusting" to that number if you're reporting to TSSAA. I sort of like the TSSAA's proposal regarding not being classified with schools twice the enrollment, but think that it would be better to start on the bottom end and work upward than start with the largest and work down. My logic is there's a smaller advantage between 2,800 students and 1,400 if we're talking about selecting 80 kids to play football than there is a 200 vs. 400 enrollment finding 11 "good" athletes to put on the field every snap.

  5. These kids that are still playing can still play for something. If they can beat Wayne County they are in the playoffs and keep going to the playoff streak alive. I hope some of the kids step up and have some pride for themselves, coaches, teammates and this community.

  6. The fact that we're even talking about how many starters are missing and who is injured is part of the problem. This is ridiculous. Talking about this kind of thing is bad and if it starts at the top, it's worse. Get the plays in on time...tackle...cover the pass...stop whining...etc. I doubt OR will have more talent than they have right now for a while, so make the best of it. I thought the QB looked better than any QB has all year...where has he been...hurt????? The season is not lost...OR can still finish second in the region, and we should. Get ready for Greenville and stop whining...fans included!

  9. So, Josh Jones' Bearden Bulldogs host previously undefeated and top 5 ranked Bradley Central last night and win. But the haters claimed that he was in over his head early on at this forum. That entire staff has done a good job with that program thus far, to the chagrin of the haters. Don't think many people saw them being 5-2 with that caliber of a win at this point.

  10. No dog in this fight. Just pointing out that any unsportsmanlike penalty in High School Football Rules is a Noncontact penalty and "Must" be assessed as a dead ball penalty. This penalty should of been assessed on the extra point or kickoff. And yes, officials are being told to call taunting penalties as much as possible. Within reason of course.

  11. that is selective officiating in my opinion

  12. Someone else that was at the game might be able to provide better context. According to my notes there were five misses in a row before completing that 6th pass.

  13. but was it really taunting… he didn’t look back, didn’t direct it at anyone. I understand that taunting was a point of emphasis this year for officials but that was picky. IMO

  15. Lake County is going to come to Brownsville and play their game and let the chips fall were they may. It's an uphill battle but the Falcons will give it their all. It's a shame that a small 1A school is willing to play the Tomcats and schools their size and bigger will not. I just hope for an injury free game for both teams.

  19. I don’t think you’ve heard a poster one from H2O tell you that we are even a decent team… we’re bad Really Bad, but I’ve heard all year how special this ER team is going to be this year, but guess what… y’all are not special and are just a decent team playing in a weak region and playing cupcake out of region games! Believe me… it will catchup to y’all in the playoffs and almost did last night!

  20. What people don't understand is we are too small of a school and in a location where we are just not going to be a powerhouse every year. Every group that comes through have different parents and those parents might be raising their boys different. Alot comes into play when you're fielding a team at the 1a level

  23. You obviously haven’t been to a game at Springfield since the new place opened in 2017. I wouldn’t call it a dump by any means.

  24. Hats off to City. What a loaded team! What a defensive and offensive line! This played out how we all imagined and was afraid of. Lack of depth and injuries has really changed what this team is. The loss of # 2, weeks ago had a bigger impact on the team than most realize. He was a true leader on the team. Losses on the line have been devastating. Loosing our center was another huge impact. The #56 situation has been boiling for a while. Not surprised that bubble finally popped and coaches had enough. #33 got his big run which I expected at least one. Not much he can do when we were getting blown up at the line and City was in the backfield non stop with multiple players. mentally the Dawgs did not want to play this game. The situation that had happened with #56 really shook the team and many others wanted to quit, and may still quit over it. To those players I would say: where is your pride? You break the huddle down with family. It is easy when the season turns bad to try and blame someone else and use that as a reason to quit. These teammates are your family. Don’t turn your back on them. I promise no matter who the coach is, they will do things you don’t like or agree with. Parents will always be able to tell you that the coach sucks and tell you what the coach should have done. It is human nature to place blame. These are distractions. No matter if you win another game, stick thru it with your family/teammates. Don’t let each other down and be strong together. During times like this is when your true character comes out as to the type of person you are. If you quit, you will regret doing that later in life. Family on me, family on 3. Remember.

  28. It’s week 7. If the QB doesn’t understand the system by now he needs to be on the sideline holding a clipboard. We did get to witness a 144 game, 22 year region win streak snapped last night. Don’t see that record being repeated in my lifetime.

  29. I took a rough draft. Just me, my pad n pencil. Bear in mind I'm in quarantine and suffering from a slight case of too much cough medication. But here goes. Class 1A 50 schools Class 1A will stretch from Gleason being the smallest at 122 and Houston County being the largest at 371. Class 2A 50 schools Class 2A will consist of Manassas High as the smallest at 374 and Sheffield as the largest at 540. Class 3A 50 schools Class 3A will have Cascade & Trezevant as the smallest at 541 each and Unicoi Co as the largest at 726. Class 4A 50 schools Class 4A begins with Bolton as the smallest at 732 and up to White Co the largest at 1,113. Class 5A 50 schools Class 5A begins with a new name James Lawson formerly Hillwood as the smallest at 1,121 up to Oak Ridge the largest at 1549. That means anything above that mark ^ is 6A. Class 6A 49 schools Clarksville High at 1555 up to Collierville at 2827. Of course all this means nothing if those enrollment numbers change. And I counted the football playing schools correctly that will figure in as the total number. (299) All in fun. Enjoy.

  32. The staff didn’t think they could win in 17/18 and I don’t think they believe that they can now. Until Springfield actually beats Beech I will stand by that. They play to win, but don’t really believe they will.

  36. Uh yeah it was. We played in a region with Maryville, Knox West, Knox Catholic, Farragut, Bearden, Lenoir City, and Heritage. That region was stacked from top to bottom. That was back during the weird hybrid regions when 5A and 6A were together in the regular season. Our region had state champions in 5A and 6A.

  38. Congratulations BlueRaiders. You wanted this game more than the rebs. Enjoy your victory! - no discipline across the board - running it at will and then trying to pass inside the 20. .... WTF - DBs are not aggressive at all - not sure that the defense is even capable of lining up - never seen so much chaos and unsureness on a football field . Maryville players have always taken the field with confidence and execute. It seems that this season they are constantly looking to the sideline in bewilderment. this is the worst Maryville team ive seen in over 30 yrs no polish no swagger no presence Put the qb under center and put 2 backs behind him and run it . The transfer qb doesnt understand the system and cannot run the offense. This isnt his fault ... it just is what it is. Maryville loses 2 more games and barely makes the playoffs

  45. Corn is now back to being irrelevant under this coaching staff. Hate to see it but had to know it was coming. Look at the youth teams. Not much coming to help ( for years ). Randolph made his timing perfect to forever concrete his “Moses” stature.. No chance they head back to the promised land of relevance any time soon
