  1. In honor of kwc I'd like to set out BGIM, week 2 of TSSAA Playoffs. With Whitehaven not being in the playoffs and the fact that I don't coach anymore I hadn't been too much up on who's doing what outside of seeing scores and highlights here and there. That said there are a handful of Memphis-Shelby Metro teams still playing and why not make a few picks especially since I'm off work and got some time to spare. Without further ado here are the games to pick:

  2. Yeah, we need to figure something out. Somehow we gotta pay these guys more money to call a game. My suggestion is the suits that are on the TSSAA payroll pony up.

  3. 3 including Alcoa. Now the other two teams the rams played werent very good football teams but they had athletes on both sides of the ball. Those two teams dont compare to alcoa but the rams have played teams with multiple athletes

  4. Since 1985, Dawgs went on the road and beat Knox Catholic to advance to the semis. Our seniors are gamers though. I don’t really worry about nerves with them honestly, but you’re right, essentially uncharted territory for Bulldog football. However three of our leaders were big parts of the state championship basketball team two years ago, so some of our kids have already played on bigger stages and won.

  5. Former Lebanon high school wrestler Eli Clemmons is currently ranked 8th at 157 in the newest NAIA poll that just came out. Eli wrestles for Cumberland University and is one of two wrestlers ranked for Cumberland. Congrats and keep working hard.

  6. I guess because it is the playoffs, lipscomb can't live stream their game and I have to watch on NFHS. it keeps cutting out and is terrible. if TSSAA requires this, they need to stop. lots of schools have great streaming on their own and this is a huge step backwards. im staring at a spinning wheel...

  7. Tyner gpt the win tonight. Give them credit. Westmoreland needed to play a perfect game with some help from Tyner. It didnt hapoen. But one game doesn't diminish the big strides this core group of Seniors made this year. We improved from 3 wins last year to 7 this year with a first round home playoff win. More importantly i think these guys laid the ground work in showing the underclassmen what it takes to win. Especially proud of my grand son Kam Eden #14. He had a great year at QB and corner back. He had 1000+ yards rushing with 15 TDs and 8 TD passes running a wing T offense. He also had 3 interceptions at corner and some notable "big hits". Most proud of his character, he has heard me make comments about play calling, offensive scheme etc. that i didnt like but the young man has reminded me that instead of complaining about things, do your best to make them better. I know he's hurting right now but well done son, you made yourself into a ball player

  8. I’m surprised some think this game will be close, I’ve seen Tyner and watched East play Bledsoe, Tyner should win going away. East has some good athletes but not enough to mach Tyner.

  9. No disrespect but you haven’t seen a passing team Like your fixing to witness Friday. They have 2 gabe borders type athletes at wide reciever maybe 3

  10. They've been the top 4 all year. Once SP is out of the running I try not to be just a guy pulling for one side of the state over the other. But I do tend to lean Easterly. With the West having homefield in the championship and those blue back chairs so much more inviting, that'll most likely be the side I'll sit on.

  11. Our Sr class has had some up and downs but they always play hard no matter the score or opponent. They’re tough as nails and talented.

  12. I was under the assumption that most A.D.'s were glorified bean counters and schedule makers.

  13. Cows? Greeneville people don’t know the difference btw a horse and a cow. Figures

  14. Roll on Ram Train. I just hope the Rams can keep it close. Hoping for an injury free game for both teams. This far into the playoffs nobody expects to run away with anything. Good luck to both teams. Keep the Ram Train rolling.

  16. This game has traditionally been the state title game for a while. With the exception of last year this will most likely be your winner. Good luck to both teams. Devils by 3 scores.

  17. Glad that you carried on kwc's "tradition" of BGIM! We lost a good one in him...the absolute best kind of homer, he tirelessly promoted ALL Memphis area teams without disrespecting others or divisional rhetoric. Every high school fan should try and have that kind of positive impact.

  18. Should be a great match up but just focusing on ruffin would be a mistake. Rams wr’s room is full with guys that are a threat anytime they touch it. The kicker plays wr also and he’s a track guy.

  19. I remember a time when UC fans did even travel well to their home games

  22. Coach Tuner was there for 30years he was old school. they did play for a state championship in 2017 though. The new coaches inherited alot of talent for sure

  23. Big game… whomever wins this one SHOULD secure a trip to Chattanooga. Gordy proved me wrong last week and it’s hard to beat a good team twice, but I’m still going with Celina by a score.

  26. Gordonsville’s seniors have got put out in their three prior seasons by SP in the third round every year, so definitely a huge congratulations to them for dispatching of the Pirates last Friday in a game that I predicted Gville would win. Clay’s seniors have been put out in the 2nd every year (2019 SP, 2020 Gville, 2021 SP). Both groups are dead set on stamping their legacy on their respective programs by hosting a semifinal game next week. This will be the 6th meeting of these squads in the past four years, and as was mentioned by OldTownRoad, the home team has won em all. Friday is gonna be fun, win, lose, or draw. It ain’t no secret that Gordonsville has been dominant in this series for 50 years now, and have established themselves as the best current A program in the east year in and year out behind SP. It’s Clay’s turn to finally have some fortune and glory I hope.

  27. Good points. From a walk-up perspective then Nashville would be best. I was thinking about being more middle of the state, which Nashville is close enough though.

  28. I'll say to this game as I did the Tennessee vs Georgia game before hand. Depends on how they match up and we won't know until the game. I'm thinking the Devils can play defense just as Georgia did against UT and their passing game. Without reading any of this, I would say the AC fans are like I was ,thinking the UT passing game was going to do very well against the Dawgs. It's just a guessing game and we have all watched or played enough football in the past not to count our victory before the game is played.I hope it's going to be the Devils and their is no questions like the game a few years ago.More then anything,I pray it's a clean game without injuries and may the best team go on and win gold for their school and east Tennessee.

  29. Screen plays aren’t trick plays. The jet sweep pass was just a gutsy play call. And Gordonsville didn’t run over Clay on their last offensive play on 4th & 1. Gordonsville never punted or kicked to #44 for Clay. Every team knew better. When they did they usually paid the price.

  32. lexington can pass the ball so dont over look that option they just choose not to i have seen there qb throw and he has a decent arm if we are made to pass it i figure we will.

  33. I agree with everyone regarding the Jackets passing game. Have to be more consistent like it was in the beginning. I do expect the Patriots to bring some pressure and clog up running lanes. I expect Henry’s A game so Jackets can’t afford many mistakes or misses.

  35. @FIREBIRD80 I've tried to forget that game last year. Pretty sure Barion Brown out ran the entire defense 3 times on one play. This will no doubt be a tough one. PC brings a great team to Lexington. They always have talent. Even back when I played, we wanted to avoid PC in the playoffs. These Tigers were once 1-3 and written off. They have won 8 in a row. They've heard before almost every games a one dimensional offense won't work. I'm just glad the players stopped listening to it.

  36. What were the gimmick trick plays? Maybe I wasn’t at the same game? And as far as the “we beat ourselves” goes I could easily say we had blowed coverages on y’all’s 2 TD passes and that we should’ve easily won 35-7, instead of 27-20.

  37. Springfield played Lexington and beat them on their field in 2017. I really enjoyed the game and their field. Great fans. They lined up and ran right at us

  39. Oh ok. Well he will be dominating when he gets there.

  40. FB, I know nothing about Lexington this year. I actually commented about this game on another thread earlier. I do know what Pearl Cohn brings every year and they ain’t no joke. I think your boys get it done. The Jackets took care of business there a few years back.

  41. Question for the Haywood faithful; having come right by Haywood’s stadium on my way to Munford last night, why can’t/couldn’t the Haywood county officials put some of that Covid money most counties got toward a nicer facility for the Tomcats? Having driven over to Tipton County and seeing the nice turf fields at Brighton and then Munford, the Haywood teams deserve something like that too. The caliber of teams you guys continually put out deserve it too. I don’t mean to knock any Haywood County officials, it was just a thought that popped in my head on the way home last night.
