So let's see if we can get this straight.... Boone is afraid to play Elizabethton, but yet continues to schedule them year after year after year.... If avoidance of play was the real issue wouldn't it be much simpler to... oh, I dunno, maybe just stop scheduling them? And Mo West has played Greeneville 46 times, I guess I'm failing to see why they keep scheduling them over and over. If you want to make the argument that either Boone or MoWest is afraid to play these opponents then you are going to have to explain why they were not dropped from the schedules years ago. On another note, it really bites for Elizabethton to lose this home game especially when there were only 4 to begin with, on that we can agree.

TSSAA won’t care because this doesn’t affect their pocket. I do find it hard to believe that West and Boone couldn’t find a period to make the game up between Saturday and Monday. Nothing EHS and Greenville can do unfortunately, but as I said in the other thread. Those teams wouldn’t be on the schedule again. Cyclones and Devils both travel well, I’d make sure neither team is getting any gate money from my fans in the future.

I was kinda kidding about this earlier Saturday morning. But I fully believe that both coaches saw an opportunity to avoid having to play the two 4A powerhouses in East Tennessee and jumped on it. We both loose revenue (band concessions, ticket sales, local business) and what’s worse, our senior athletes loose one of their only 4 home games. This should not be allowed to happen. The TSSAA should not allow this to happen. It’s breach of contract.

Just looked, Mount Juliet non region opponents are 2-13. But he trolls other schools when they lose. What a guy!

It should be a cold day in Hades that the Devils and Betsy ever compete against those 2 schools in anything. Character counts more than winning and losing.

Something has to be done to standardize the procedures. Jeff vs DB kicked off at 9:40 and ended around 12:30. While it probably benefitted JC to have DB sit in the visitors lockerroom for 2 1/2 hrs, not sure this was the best decision. Many of these kids had to get up this morning and take the ACT. As discussed in another thread, Mo West and Boone rescheduled to Thursday and cancelled games on Greeneville and Elizabethton. Lakeway Academy cancelled their game. Sevier Co and Cocke Co will play the last 3 qtrs on Monday. I saw one kicking off at 3:00 today, one for Sunday. I applaud these schools for giving the kids an opportunity to play. These kids work 9 months for a 3 month season. Taking games away from kids is not the answer. Greeneville now has lost 9 qtrs of play because of administrative decisions. It isn’t fair to the kids.

I kind of felt this was going to happen, but JC let me down the last few years... Looks like they have figured it out and will be the team to beat in D2 1A.

Great list, BPM. Shout out to Milan for being 4-0. Wouldn’t have bet that in the preseason but you never can count out them Dawgs. I think JCS is very worthy as well. They have a future SEC player in Mosley, other good playmakers and a line that got push against a much bigger Goodpasture squad on the road in Nashville then whipped USJ. They’ve proven it on the field.

Oh man no worries. CA is good and has talent. Lost a heartbreaker earlier in the season in a game that on NFHS they had all the chances to win. They led Friendship for three quarters and ultimately lost. They are a dangerous team with a great RB, depth, and size. Will be interesting to see their run game vs DCAs passing game with their three very good WRs. This could be a high scoring affair with these offenses so it should be fun. The game is at DCA.

But, what I love about high school football is that these polls are meaningless. There is no selection committee to pick playoff teams. We have a playoff system and all deserving teams get a shot to win and advance. It’s all decided on the field. Covington fans are fine, knowing that we will get a chance to win and advance or to lose and go home.

Elizabethton and Boone will play next year and many years to come. It is a good money game and close distance wise. The weather won and they decided to play on Thursday. As far as Elizabethton schedule it has been a mess the past 3 years. Only 9 games the past 2 years even though a team would have played them allegedly and then this year last 3 games at home which means next year the last 3 will be on the road.

how can you blame coaching when the coach is yelling at the players pre snap what they play is and they still mess up? i don’t think that has anything to do with coaching. this team has no effort and are uncoachable

They can’t control how their opponents do. As long as they handle their business and keep improving week to week, that’s all you can ask of them. Enjoy it Govs! You’ve had some crappy years recently and deserve to have this moment. You guys were classy when Betsy played you. I love your Gov Nation Network guys too. Keep working and grinding. At what time ? I live about 4 miles from the stadium and when I went to bed at 12:30 it was still lightning. The crowd leaving would have interfered with school drop off lol

I'm a bit confused... since 1975 Morristown West has played Greeneville 46 times. Since 1972 Boone has played Elizabethton 37 times. Boone knows that every year the Elizabethton game will be a loss but we keep scheduling them anyway, year after year after year.... So in what universe are we to believe that Mo West & Boone are afraid to play these opponents? I was under the impression that the prevailing thought here is that playing tougher opponents helped make your team better and got you more conditioned for the playoffs, so are we now saying that you should not play teams you are afraid of, instead play only cupcakes?

With Union City population at 11,000 and South Fulton population around 2100 but somehow in the same classification, I’d say Union City should be able to squeak this one out.

SF is not a bad team, but are they capable of beating a sure fire semi-finalist? It’s a little unfair to gauge their worthiness against a team that could make a deep AA run this year. Gleason is not a bad team either, playing a team like UC can sure make you look that way. Just my 2 cents.

No offense should be taken. When you were only a few plays away from play in the AA semi-finals last year, you should beat most of your Single-A schedule by 40. The games will get closer the farther UC goes in the playoffs. Dresden has the makeup of a deep playoff run so I’d expect the Dresden-UC game to be close. But other than that, it’s not much to beat their chest about.

And I agree this situation sucks. Best you can do unfortunately is try to do business in the future with programs that will try to fulfill their obligations.

I was referring to future scheduling in response to dropping Boone if not for the difficulty finding a replacement game.

Why did Knight leave? If his family had moved to Nashville because his dad had taken a new job he was with family as reported by Lipscomb. So if he got homesick for family then family wasn’t in Nashville this raises Red flags. Where was he living? Who paid for the rent and food. Lot of questions I am sure TSSAA will want answered. Wondering where Knight will wind up. Some speculation over here at either Baylor or across town.

Probably one of my favorites was beating an undefeated dobyns Bennett team, back when they were really good, not a bad team now, but even there fans would tell you they were much better at one point, in 2009 when mcminn was coming off a 6-4 regular season, think they turned around and lost to the cars 12-7, or back when Maryville had a super dynasty, and mcminn played them really close 21-26 or 20-28 one can't remember the score exactly.

As you already know....turnovers will kill a team. Clinton had 5 turnovers against West. You have to play a almost perfect game to beat teams like West.

In the 4 years that Keith has been here, Clinton has gotten better and are beating the teams they should beat, but can't seem to beat the really good teams just yet. Hopefully, they are heading in that direction. Right now, if Clinton were to beat Oak Ridge and Powell, and AC....I would consider those upsets and a signature win.

Last year's team would probably be 0-4 this year even with the soft schedule. It is very impressive what they have done. I understand why it is hard to respect a team who volunteered to do a lot more traveling to play in a weaker region and scheduled two 3a non region games but based off last year they needed to be playing in 1a. If WB does not beat West Ridge there's a good chance they go 6-4 and don't make the playoffs, but that would still be an amazing season for them.

they weren't over hyped last year and you were awful quiet then. no doubt this is a rough year for LA and i'm still here trying to be honest about where we are and contribute to the conversation on the mostly dead D2 board but you only showing up when things aren't going great means i'll keep taking you with a big ole grain of salt. if I can even understand what you are trying to say in the first place. just sayin.

sorry I missed that one. i just looked at the 1-3 record for CA and thought it wouldn't be a good game but those 3 losses were to some good teams.

Really happy with what I saw last night. Gallatin had a horrible first two series ending in turnovers but only one resulted in a score. Defense played a lot better and tackled really well. They still can get better but they looked much improved. Offensively, you better be able to score because if you can’t you will be playing catch-up. This team is growing and you could tell last night that they did not flinch after those two quick turnovers. Came right back out and scored. O-line is doing a really good job opening lanes and keeping the defenses off of the QB. Game by game improvement!!
