  1. I agree with Southtowner on this one. Tough, physical matchup coming up for this Pirate team. Win or lose..high school football after Thanksgiving is always a good thing.

  2. No one supports their football team like South Pitt in class A and it’s not even close. Love them or hate them they are the standard that all Class A schools are striving for. Friday nights during football season is truly the main event in South Pittsburg. They show up for one reason………….to WIN!

  4. I think Coach Wilson should treat this as a road game, seeing as how the Jackets have won all three playoff games on the road. He should load the team up on a couple of busses, drive to Beech to look to see if they Shock Me Island has been cleaned up after the beatdown Springfield inflicted up there Friday night, then turn around and go back to Springfield. The team could dress in the weight room and wear their road uniforms.

Department of Education is gonna be completely different, As long as you Salute the Flag, pledge your allegiance and study the bible, Don't matter the denomination, Christian ,Batist, Catholic, you will be able to go to any school you choose. Our Public Education system is broken and its been slowly dismantled for several years, Now ,all at once ,they see whats went wrong, Christian Nationalists to the Rescue. Lots of people seem to like the Idea but I'd rather Teach my own kids the proper values And pledge my allegiance to the Good Lord above. We're in for a wild ride on the old wild beast. Its coming to a Country near you.

  10. Man what a time of year to be playing football. Home field games on Black Friday, to me, are better than State Championship games for the atmosphere. Most people are off, your team is having a great season, packed house with people visiting in from out of town for the holiday coming to watch a great football game. Nothing better in my book. Jackets, let’s go get another one.

  12. Milan High School’s Shameless Reclassification Scheme In 2020, the Milan High School football team suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Alcoa in the 3A state championship. For most schools, this would have been a motivating challenge – an opportunity to rise to the occasion. But Milan’s administration decided to take a different path. Rather than face the possibility of another rematch with the state powerhouse, they sought a way to avoid Alcoa altogether. Their solution? A reclassification that would take them out of 3A and into 4A football, effectively dodging one of the most formidable teams in Tennessee high school football. But that move didn’t go quite as planned. The Milan High School Academy: A Deceptive Scheme In 2021, in response to a disappointing season in 4A, Milan’s administration implemented a new strategy: they launched the so-called “Milan High School Academy.” The academy was presented as a cutting-edge educational initiative, promising unique opportunities for students. But in reality, the “academy” was nothing more than a clever ruse to manipulate enrollment numbers and gain an unfair advantage in the TSSAA classification process. Despite its lofty name, the Milan High School Academy was essentially a designation for underperforming students who did not participate in athletics. It wasn’t a separate building, nor did it come with additional resources or programs. Academy students attended the same classes as their peers, earned the same diplomas, and received no additional support beyond what was available to all Milan students. The only real distinction? Academy students were barred from participating in sports. So what was the purpose of the “academy”? The answer is simple: it was an attempt to artificially lower the enrollment numbers at Milan High School, thereby allowing the school to qualify for a lower athletic classification. By designating certain students as part of the “academy” and excluding them from athletics, Milan could reduce its reported enrollment figures and secure a spot in 2A, rather than 3A, which was the school’s rightful classification. The Unprecedented and Unethical Decision of the Board of Control In March 2024, the TSSAA Board of Control was alerted to Milan’s questionable tactics. However, rather than addressing the issue, the Board took an unprecedented step that further exacerbated the situation. In an unexpected move, the Board voted to use May enrollment figures—rather than the traditional August numbers—when determining classifications for the upcoming cycle. This decision, made in August 2024, was not included in the official agenda, and the affected schools were given no opportunity to voice their concerns before the vote. In fact, the vote was passed with a 12-0 margin, despite the face that four board members who represented private schools had no stake in the decision, as their schools’ enrollment numbers were still going to be submitted in August. The result of this vote? Milan, whose enrollment figures were artificially deflated by the creation of the Academy, remained in 2A football, despite its historical placement in 3A. This move was a direct result of Milan’s manipulation of enrollment numbers, and it allowed the school to avoid tougher competition in the coming years, including the powerhouse team, Alcoa, which has since reclassified to 4A. The Consequences of Milan’s Strategic Move Under the TSSAA’s 6-classification system, Milan had been competing in 3A football since its inception. But by creating the Milan High School Academy and using the altered May enrollment data, Milan successfully managed to secure a place in 2A football for the next four years. This was a strategic move designed to avoid competition from larger, more competitive programs and to secure easier opportunities for championship titles. But Milan’s reclassification has not only benefited the school—it has also displaced other schools that were forced to compete in a classification that no longer reflects the true competitive landscape. Schools in rural West Tennessee, for example, were left to face a Milan team that no longer belonged in 2A, further distorting the competitive balance in the region. The decision to reclassify Milan based on artificially reduced enrollment numbers has created an unfair advantage that undermines the integrity of the TSSAA classification system. For the next four years, Milan’s success will be built on this fraudulent foundation, and any victories won will be tainted by the knowledge that the school manipulated the system to achieve them. Milan’s Manipulation of Districts and Regions The fallout from Milan’s reclassification extends beyond football. Milan’s new classification has also affected the districts and regions they compete in for other sports. Historically, Milan was part of District 14 in Class 2A, where they competed against schools like Gibson County in sports like baseball, basketball, and softball. However, Milan’s strategic reclassification moved them into District 12, a far more favorable grouping for their athletic programs. This move has allowed Milan to avoid tough competition in a number of sports, particularly baseball and basketball, where District 14 was known for its strength. By shifting into a less competitive district, Milan has given itself a clear advantage—one that other schools in the region now have to contend with, all because of a cynical manipulation of the system. A Corrupt Process? While the TSSAA is not inherently corrupt, Milan’s actions—along with the TSSAA Board’s approval of those actions—raise serious questions about the fairness and integrity of the entire classification process. Milan’s administration has exploited the system for its own benefit, creating an environment where the spirit of competition has been overshadowed by self-serving tactics. Coaches and players at Milan High School today may have no direct involvement in this scheme, but they will inevitably feel the repercussions of the backlash from other schools and communities who see their actions as a betrayal of the competitive spirit that high school sports should embody. As for Milan’s administration, which has attempted to justify the creation of the academy, their claims fall short of convincing. The principal, who did not start the Academy but now defends it, has made several dubious statements in an attempt to justify Milan’s reclassification: 1. “Tennessee’s Innovative Schools Model allowed us to create a separate Academy that meets on our campus to better serve those students.” In reality, the “Academy” was not just a new program, it was a rebranding effort designed to reduce enrollment numbers. It was not just a school-within-a-school but also an exclusionary measure. 2. “Students in the Academy have WBL placements that match their elective focus and support the field of study.” This is a common practice in nearly every school in Tennessee, as Work-Based Learning (WBL) programs have been around since 1984 and are available to all students, not just those in the so-called “Academy.” 3. “Our numbers have not rebounded post-COVID.” Milan’s enrollment numbers which had been artificially reduced by the creation of the Academy, suddenly “rebounded” in August of 2024, showing a total of 610 students. However when the reclassification vote was made based on May’s numbers, the school reported 523 students—just five below the cutoff for 2A classification. Conclusion: A Fraudulent Victory Milan High School’s manipulation of the TSSAA reclassification process has exposed a systemic flaw in the way classifications are determined. While the administration may have won a short-term victory by reclassifying to 2A, the consequences for other schools, and for the integrity of high school sports in Tennessee, will be felt for years to come. Milan’s fraudulent move undermines the very principles of fairness and competition that are supposed to be governed by the TSSAA. Milan may have secured a favorable classification, but it has lost something far more valuable: the respect of the entire state. It’s important to note that the TSSAA’s hands are tied. The Executive Director and his staff are at the mercy of the Board of Control. The Board of Control has been corrupted by a member from Milan High School. Moreover, of the 12 votes cast to use May’s numbers, 4 Board members saw their school play in a lower classification. The other 8 members’ schools were not affected. To the Board of Control: At most, you should do the right thing and start this entire classification process over. At minimum, issue an apology to Halls High School who will be playing 2A because of Milan, Forrest High School who will be playing 3A because of Milan, Milan’s district opponents, their families and communities who will be driving 90 minutes for district basketball, baseball, and softball games. Or, Board of Control, continue to be corrupted by one of your members and negatively impact thousands of athletes, their families, and communities. None of you will ever have to wear the negative fallout of all of this. TSSAA Executive Director Mark Reeves, a good man whom you all hired, will unfortunately be the face of this corruption.

  16. I think that Huntingdon faces the same challenges a few other programs do and it’s the style of offense they run. Wayne county with the split back veer and Lewis county with the wing T are two I can think of. Throughout the last 10 years all of these schools have had some pretty good talent at some point. It seems that these older styles of offenses do well until the second or third rounds of the playoffs and then a good defensive coordinator can just shut them down. The way the game is now you’ve got to be able to spread the ball out and be a little more dynamic because these power run offenses just don’t seem to make it to the championship game. Maybe I’m wrong but this is the way I see it.

  22. I haven’t seen McKenzie play this season, so I can’t talk matchups with them two. I have seen Surber play over the years and he is the real deal. I’ve seen MASE play against Peabody and I will say they have good team defense. Peabody held the offense in check holding them to 14 points but we ran the ball the majority so they stacked the box. Interested to see what they will have for a team that will spread them out and throw it around, also interested in seeing McKenzie go against what I think will be the best team they’ll play since the Huntindon game, I think MASE is better than Giles and Chester but that is my opinion. Good luck to both teams on the road to state.

  23. No-one from east TN is gonna give MC a chance in this. They don’t respect the Upper Cumberland area football. They scoffed at Upperman last year and would be doing the same if it were Upperman again this year. Macon 100% absolutely has a chance with AC, especially with how they’ve been consistently playing. I’m a Bee’s fan through and through, but I hope the Tigers rake them through the coals. That little stadium is gonna be rocking and I plan on being there to support MC.

  26. Milan High School Academy gets the funding for those students. As far as roofs goes, it gets dicey there. For instance, SGC students are bussed to GC and are educated under their roof for part of the day. So, does this mean GC should be required to count those students in their enrollment? By your definition, they should. Your hatred toward Milan is well documented and not relevant. The “consensus” of 10-15 middle aged adults on a random sports forum on the deep depths of the internet would hardly stand up in court. Here’s a mind blowing thought, because not every decision made in Milan revolves around football. On Coach T, everything revolves around sports, it’s a sports forum. But the Academy was created as an opportunity for seniors to be able to complete their high school requirements, gain industry certifications, and get to the workforce sooner. That’s CTE’s main focus! It’s not about readying students for college (which is the main goal of a traditional high school), but getting them equipped to get into jobs sooner. When the three CTE directors submitted their initial grant proposal to the state department, I’d be willing to bet that they weren’t thinking about the rules of TSSAA and classifications. That’s not their main focus. Heck, if we’re being honest and you know anything about how a school works, it’s very likely that the administrators of MHS didn’t know anything about this idea until AFTER the grant was awarded! This is why they went to TSSAA for guidance. “Hey we have this new program, tell us what to do”. The narrative has been put out that the ONLY reason the Academy was created was to skew numbers. But there is zero fact in that. When you look at it from an educational standpoint, the Academy is a wonderful idea. Educate students 9-11th grade, 12 grade give them an opportunity to fast track their education, then partner them with industry partners who need employees!

  28. Watched the 4th quarter- Only thing I can say is, everything stupid you could do, Marshall did in the last nine minutes of the game. Eli Stephenson would've been proud. In fact, he never had a collapse this bad. Fake reverse by PC went for 60 yards. As soon as Marshall kids saw they had the wrong kid with the ball, they stopped running. Mindboggling fever dream play. Was that real? Kickoff returns and penalties had Marshall inside their own 5 on offense TWICE. Players looked like they had been given Thorazine. Most slow mo effort I've ever seen. A collective exhaustion and half-butt effort took hold. Marshall staff couldn't get plays in. Team looked in disarray. Funk looked to be sacked and literally threw the ball as far and high as he could, and his receiver caught it. Marshall looked scrimmage-esque effort wise. PC runners were like pinballs, Everyone was bouncing off of them. So, offense, defense, special teams, and coaching. A quadfecta collapse. Broadcast went to break at 21-7 with Marshall about to punt. Ball was on the 1 inch line so presumably Marshall was not in a good spot. When the broadcast returned, it was 21-14 and PC was kicking off again. No explanation from TV crew. So again. Quarterfinals. Your team quits after 3 quarters with a 21-0 lead. How does a coach allow this to happen to his team? And everyone just shrugs and says "Good season, Git em next year..."

In the ist game South Gibson and Union City are both good-looking squads. South Gibson won but both teams very talented and well-coached. Also impressed with Obion Co. another disciplined and very well-coached team. Gleason has a lot of work to do.

  32. Yes they do teach history here and also character along with it! Alvin C York was a Godly Christian man that didn’t want to be there because of his beliefs and did it anyway. God blessed him for his heroics he came home interim preached for a while and died of a stroke. Also, he never gloated about his accomplishments or actions! I thank Srg. York for what he did and for helping us all for our freedoms! I’m also a veteran of operation desert storm and know a little about service! Character is a funny thing - takes years years to build it up, and just seconds to tear it down.

  33. Yes. I think CPA would give both a game. It’s the current (culture + the families + coaches) that makes them special at this time. Obviously that might change one day, but right now I would not bet against them. In 14 years (I think), I’ve seen CPA play the underdog role wonderfully. We will see next year. Right now they are just preparing for a second game with a very good BGA team.

  35. I tried to start reading it…and the opening was pretty well written…an opinion statement with no merit, but catchy none the less. But then the second paragraph stated that it was “Milan’s administration” (it’s blatantly obvious they were meaning Greg Scott) who came up with the Academy because they were “scared to face Alcoa”. At that point, I realized, whoever wrote this never actually investigated anything they wrote. The academy was started from a grant (Innovative High School Grant) that was awarded to the collaborative efforts of Peabody, Gibson County and Milan’s CTE directors. (GC’s director took lead of the project BTW) So once I read that I realized there was not going to be any factual statements in the entire diary entry. Because thats all it is. The diary entry from a disgruntled “adult” who, instead of looking up facts from credible and reputable sources, takes the words from this very forum and makes an “investigative report”. And don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Coach T just as much as the next guy, but I don’t think it would count as a credible citation source for any report. So you can asterisk our name, call us names, whatever. We’re use to it. Lucky for us we got tough skin and an even tougher football team! Go Dawgs

  39. I would love for my team to still be playing obviously, but as a neutral fan, the semifinals are the most entertaining round of the playoffs. It's like the divisional round of the NFL postseason. Seems like it always has the best/greatest number of entertaining matchups. And like you said, I'm sure the Black Friday/packed house/traditional part of it has something to do with my fondness of it as well.

The extra things the Metro coaches do for the kids they coach should be talked about more. I have tons of respect for these Coaches.

  41. Macon has had some lean years in football over the program history. Seems basketball girls and boys were always better. Breakthrough year in 2003 showed it could be done. 2002, the previous, year was a good year. The Pemberton years were some decent teams. The 4 years of Carlisle were also very good. 2023-2024 is the best 2 year run yet. I do beleave Macon has finally became a football school. I know the fans that have stuck with program deserve it. Wonderful things happen when a community let's a coach do the coaching, the community backs the program, and you get rid of excuses of why it can't happen. CONGRATS

  42. I'll start with saying that I know absolutely zero about Warren County football. After reading what the former players had to say about their coach, getting rid of the guy sounds like a mistake. From what I gather, he sounds like he was a great mentor for his players. Teaching them teamwork, how to be accountable young men and how to genuinely care for other people. Communities all across the country could use a few men like that interacting with the youth. Winning is cool and all but at the end of the day football is just a game. A game that also happens to teach a lot of valuable life lessons. Keep in mind that most kids never play another snap after high school. What kind of men do we want them to be after graduation is the question.

I do remember that the Nashville media was pumping up CPA that year as one of the best Nashville area teams ever. CPA coaches were being interviewed on TV all week. Nashville media had them beating TC bad and it was 35-0 at half at TC kept the starters in all game and demolished them.
