  1. Congratulations to the LC Falcons. Y'all are the real deal and I expect a Gold Ball in the trophy case this December for your boys. Dominant from the start. Good luck the rest of the way

  2. This is very impressive. They will be hard to keep out of Cookeville. They could quite possibly be the most talented, and athletic team in 1A this season.

  3. Congrats LC. Y'all have a really good team. Should go deep in the playoffs. Nothing but respect.

  8. Yep our young guys got a lot of reps in the second half of the game. It feels really good to be a Red Rebel! The pipeline is full! And Coach Hunt is doing a fantastic job!

  9. Wish I was there! Pulling for the Cats as usual for me. No earthly idea on a possible score. Just try to imitate "Run em up Rankin" and score WAY more than HVA. LOL

  10. You would know better than me for sure. And thanks for the luck. We need quite a bit tonight I'm afraid! Good luck to you guys as well. No injuries allowed!

  12. Let me give my opinion on athletes. They are not always BLACK. Milan's defense is almost completely made up of African Americans. So does that make them more athletic than Trenton? Milan's kids look the part because of their physical statue but by no means are they more athletic than Peabody. We made them look slow last night. Why? because of how we went about preparing for this game. Peabody was coached up last night and that makes for a quicker team. It also takes guts, intelligence and heart to win and that is what Peabody has. I am sure Milan has some intelligent players with guts and heart but last night it was all Trenton. The score was not as bad as the game was. We were very dominant.

  13. Blazer I don't look forward to having the Devil's go up against Charlie Cole much respect to that kid. He is a Great Football Player. He and Cade I hear will be teammates next season.

  15. I agree, both teams love to slug it out against the best. Hard to keep a small team at it's best all year. Pray for a good, injury free game I hope you try to slobber nock the qb transfer on the first play. That might fire up FC.

  16. Milan looks (so far) exactly like a team with a 1'st year coach, playing in week one of the season... Peabody looks like they're in late season form... almost flawless execution on both sides of the ball. In my opinion, it's way too early to write off the 'Dawgs... they have a long way to go, but a long time to get this right... plenty of motivation after tonight too. It may be early to pass judgement on Milan, but not Peabody... barring a catastrophic streak of bad luck, everybody in their way is in trouble.

  17. I wasn’t there to see it, but this game turned out just like Gordonsville wanted it and we are lucky to come out of there with a W. If this team plays anything like I heard they played tonight, we will get steamrolled by both Nolensville and TC the next couple of weeks. I hope we get it together or it’s going to be a rough year!!

  20. Hats off to Haywood. They look like they’re going to be tough. My Patriots? I’m a little concerned. It’s the first game with a young team so I’m not going to overreact.

  24. Our line sucks. They can’t block or get a rush!!! I’m glad they get up for real games. Someone let me know when we play one.

  26. Ain’t nobody going to challenge them till playoffs and probably not then either. They look like grown men out there on the field.

  27. I'll take Forrest to win comfortably being a very physical, more complete team. I say Rockets 35 Indians 14 or maybe even 7. Just an outsider's opinion/prediction.

  29. The highlighted part of your post was the biggest difference in the game. The commentators were saying over and over how Trenton's offensive and defensive lines were blowing Milan off the ball (and they were)… I thought that the reason was Peabody's linemen knew exactly what their assignment was and how to execute it on both sides of the ball, and the Milan guys were guessing at best. You're not only a step quicker if you are sure where you're going, but lot's easier to push around if you're not. Technique and recognition matter just as much up front as the skill positions, just doesn't get as much lip service, and last night it showed. Line up both teams and tell the kids to push the guy in front of you back, and Milan probably holds their own, but football doesn't work that way. Trenton had football players on the field, and Milan had athletes... if the Milan kids become football players soon they have a high ceiling, if not they will still win some games from talent alone, but they won't be able to achieve what most people predicted them to.

  31. Yes, I do agree for the rest of the season you’ll see 9 and 42, probably a couple more just to give the two ways some rest. QB is my biggest concern, gotta get the ball out clean and crisp and limit the mistakes.......we’ll see

  32. You coached him? You should be commended. He was a force in football for Marion County. I’m sure some of what you taught him on the diamond translated to the football field.

  33. You correct as far as the last 3 years. Those teams were very special and will go down in history as one of the best teams in the state regardless of classification. But do not sleep on this years team. They are loaded with talent, speed and most definitely toughness. Yea, they took it on the chin from a very good 5a team that will mostly likely make it to the semis, if not state. Greene has a few kinks to straighten out and they will. I am very optimistic about this years team and it would not surprise me one bit to see them back in Cookeville again this year challenging for that 3pt. We lose one game out of 31 and some of you thinks it’s the end of the world and saying Greeneville’s going to have a down year. Bumps, bruises, and rocky roads is a part of the process sometimes and you can either lay down or get up and hit the next opponent in the mouth (a loss). Greeneville is not a team that’s going to set and cry over a loss and lay down, nor will us fans. In 2011 we lost to Morristown West a 5a team at that time and Greene went on to win state beating out Maplewood for their 1st back to back state championship. There’s no worries here and I think I speak for most of us Greeneville fans. I’m All IN and I’ll eat my crow with some Franks hot sauce if I’m wrong. GO BIG GRERNE !!!

  34. Joe was a true leader. I don’t know about football because I wasn’t around him but on the diamond I was can assure you we went as joe went! He is a great young man and it was a pleasure coaching him for 4 years

  35. They have weapons at wide receiver. But you have to have time to throw them the ball. They have 2 kid's on the outside that run 4:4 forty"s. And one is a sophomore. The kid that beat Fulton deep on 2 long touchdown passes. Is the sophomore he is a legit 4:4 hard to look down the field when you are running for your Life. Most teams in 4A do not have the front 7 that Powell has. I suspect you will see this as the year progresses

  37. After watching two very good teams ( Powell & Greeneville ) play a little sloppy last night, I expect HVA vs OR to be kind of ugly. A lot of penalties, some turnovers, missed tackles, delay of games, raw hot dogs, watered down cokes, Blow Pops missing the gum inside but there better be a... Will Nick Orlando please report to the Press Box! RWR, YOU GOT THIS!

  39. This YANKER is about to speak and all of Henryland will listen.......as will all of the wise Haywoodians!!!!!!! This is a HUGE matchup to start off the season and this legendary YANKER has gone back and forth about the outcome of this great rivalry. I have made a decision........a have given a slight edge to the coaching staff that has been together the longest....if this game were to be played week ten, this great YANKER might go in a different direction...BUT...for this day, the score is as follows.......Henry County 23 - Haywood County 20! This is the year of the YANKER!!! I AM THE WORLD'S ONLY LIVING YANKER!!!! I AM THE YANKER OF ALL YANKERS (there is only one)!!!! I AM YOUR LEGENDARY YANKER!!!!!!! I AM THE UNPARALLELED YANKER!!!!!!! I AM THE GREATEST YANKER OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

  40. So said the official that made all three calls on the Maryville end of the field that quit right after that game. FYI that official was a former QB for Maryville during his playing days. From my seat which would have been closer than yours I didn't see the kid jump the third time or actually the second but that's water under the bridge now. My old saying is if you let an old dog hang around you deserve to get beat in the end for not taking care of things when you should of. I sure would hate it if the Maryville program reaches a point where we invite the last team to ever beat Alcoa 20 years from now for a reunion.
