  1. For someone who is implying that TC people are dumb country hicks who cannot spell past the third grade level, perhaps you should look at yourself first. In your post above, you used "their" when you should have used "they're" or "they are" and you used "pass" when you should have used "past". Were you educated in Watertown? FYI - Trousdale County excels on the football field and in the classroom. Our school system is getting accolades from the state for its achievements (see the August 15, 2019 headlines of The Hartsville Vidette, Schools hit 'academic grand slam'). In addition to comparing our football teams, maybe we should compare our schools' ACT scores. Have a nice day!!!

  2. Never too early to start this! It is hate week! SGC comes in with 2 dominating performances. Milan comes in with a week 1 embarrassment against Peabody and a dominating performance again Liberty! My thoughts will come as the week continues! I called my friends and the pest control company to make sure they had the field ready for all of the fleas from the dirty mutts coming to town next Friday!

  4. Nope,we need a run game!Listened to this game on radio.com and if you get hit by linebacker every play Walter Payton couldn't run the ball.lets see what the kid can do with a little help.Right now he is carrying half the load by the stats.23 cannot carry this team alone at WR it's takes 11.Playoff time and one dimensional gets you beat.Just plain football rules!I would like to see the fullbacks get some carries to but we have to learn blocking skills first

  5. Didn't Stevens go to the State Championship? 1 of 3 years state championship what other coach has done that? I guess the other 2 years was awful. Just asking wasn't back yet. I remember Young went 4-6 1 year in 80s when I lived there. If Pruitt made it to National Championship playoffs then lost in Bowl game then not make Bowl game 1 of those years would we consider those three years dismall? Fulmer won 1 and considered the greatest Tennessee coach. Just asking. Oak Ridge has a great program. They do it the right way. They play anybody. So far they lost to 2 6A schools that are not at the bottom of their regions. As someone said earlier, let season playout. And remember (I'm retired) but what if our jobs had a blog spot to talk about how we screw up at work. Support the kids.

  6. Well said. People are going a bit overboard with the whole Oak Ridge doesn’t have good teams anymore shenanigans. We have had plenty of quality teams since the end of the Cold War, that’s just silly. In the 90s we had Riverdale to contend with. Those same teams would still probably be winning titles if they were playing today. That’s how good they were. Before 2013 we had to contend with Maryville. We gave Maryville all they wanted in 10 & 12 and gave them a few tough games in the regular season from 09-12 too. Who else beat Maryville during that time? Yeah, not many. We lost to freaking Karns in 1986 and went I think 3-7 and everyone thought that was the end. We had a few awful years in the Stevens era and everyone thought that was the end, but nope, we always get back on the winning path eventually. Oak Ridge is far from done. We still have quite a bit of talent and credit to us, 98% of the kids are born and raised here, so you’re gonna have down periods every now and again in a smaller town like here, along with there not being very many younger kids as a whole in OR. It’s mainly an old folks town for the most part. We may be down for now, but we ain’t out.

  7. Henry County played 2 of their 3 toughest games back to back. They're 0-2 but they're fine. The freshman QB will do nothing but continue to develop and get better. Dyer County maybe in trouble. HC is going to want to make a statement.

  11. I think you can and will but with a roster that large if they can rotate in fresh guys in a hard fought 4 quarters the Pirates will undoubtedly have a edge over any 1 A imo !

  12. Spot on! The WB mindset is very strong in that one BC! Just another one of those who get pumped to play Alcoa for a quarter in a jamboree, but run and hide when it comes to scheduling a regular season 4 qtr game.

  13. There’s nothing to sweat, season will go on with a W or a L, sure it would be nice to get a W, and if you go from 2000, the record is 11-3

  14. What are the comparisons since 2000? Heck you wouldn’t even alive in 1990. PS: I was alive in the 90’s and last years TC team and I will assume this year’s TC team couldn’t hold a candle to any of those state championship teams.. They were the TRUTH! As for H2O we were awful in the 90’s especially the mid to late 90’s. We had 4 different coaches from 96 to 2000. These H2O teams would blow us away and that is a fact. This program has jumped leaps and bounds so to compare apples to apples you need to narrow your year range down quite a bit! Nobody has argued who has the better history, but you TC folk want to bring it up every time you feel threaten that someone is going to knock you off you alls saddle. I see y’all over there sweating it and I love it!!

  18. I have a good feeling about my Tornadoes this week. I feel like we are about to turn the corner on some things. I want a battle. Last week was boring. We have to finish long drives and keep the ball off the ground. I really like our chances.

  21. Don’t disagree with that assessment at all, but blowouts against Hillcrest and Bolivar aren’t exactly a strong litmus test. Polls are always an inexact science the first few weeks anyways.

  22. #8 is still sore of course but will be ready to go come Friday night! The QB is fine he will play Friday as well. Just havent heard about #5 Jayln Foster. The timetable was that he was supposed to come back week 3. We will see but if he does Dyer County can forget about it.

  24. Can’t argue with any of these. Can someone link the actual AP poll? I guess I’m old and suck at the internet because I can’t seem to find it.
    1 point
  25. Absolutely. If your a struggling program, you schedule to try to accumulate as many wins as possible to build confidence. Where I take issue is playoff caliber teams avoiding competition like we're still on the Z Plan. If playoffs is a realistic expectation for your program and it fails to get you ready for league play and/or the playoffs, then it was a bad schedule

  26. Hands down The Hill in Knoxville. Lets face it, the Vols haven't been any good for years. It is now the norm in Knoxville. Oak Ridge usually has a pretty good team and they were really good just last year. It's just one down year. Tennessee losing to Georgia State would be equal to Oak Ridge losing to a middle school team. That's how bad it is in Knoxville. And just for a little icing on the cake, Tennessee actually paid Georgia State $950,000.00 for the game. That's 950 THOUSAND ! If I had the power I'd go down there and fire everybody. The university president all the way down to the guys that cut the grass. Then I'd send all the students home, pad lock every door, and let the place rot to the ground. That's how bad it is in Knoxville.

  29. Fastness lol. Just kidding, I'm no guru or anything, just don't wanna sound like I'm bashing, mostly out of respect honestly. I have a lot of respect for the rockwood program and the way they do it down there. Don't want to give the impression I'm dogging them.

  30. You can argue "this kid did this", "the ref didn't call that" all day... there's an old adage that says teams attitudes and style are a reflection of the coach. Probably not word for word, but you get the picture. I've witnessed good kids do stupid things in the heat of battle, but they're usually anomalies, and happen only once or twice per team, per season. When the coach lines his team up in victory formation and sneaks the QB in a blatant attempt to run the score up, that speaks volumes about his character and morals (not just to us, but also to his team).

  31. I will say this! Great game. Much respect to the Patriots. Best 0-2 team in state. It was a great game. I won’t say anyone beats patriots by 28 again.

  33. Biggreen, they need you on the AP voting committee! I think you have the proper teams in the top 10. West would be close to getting in. I personally would flip-flop the top 4.(if the poll was solely based on this years performances). Central just isn't clicking yet, and I know they always start out this way. But I worry about how they will handle teams with good lines of scrimmage. Beech, I've not seen them play in person, but I don't see them being better than SD and Powell. Powell has beaten two very good teams already and South Doyle is just a machine. I'm not giving up on my Bobcats, but it's going to take a special season from someone to take down those two. And they will play each other at the end of the regular season.

  35. Cleverly stated and probably very accurate. My response to the original question about what happened to Oak Ridge would be to relax and let the season play out. Also, keep in mind if you are basing your opinions on Oak Ridge this season by reading CoachT, you are not getting the full picture. You are simply getting opinions of fans. They are opinions from dedicated fans for sure. Personally, my opinion is most likely the most useless of any. To get the Big Picture, you would need to hear from the players, parents, coaches, teachers, the AD, the Boosters, the Quarterback Club, opposing coaches, the media ( David Clary ) and more fans that are not on here. IMHO, I doubt this team will be called the weakest / worst Oak Ridge team of all-time at season's end. There will be wins and some against quality opponents. The chase for the four Playoff spots hasn't even started yet. It begins this Friday, though, so progress / improvement must be made this week. I hope my opinion comes true and the Wildcats earn a playoff spot, win a playoff game or two and all this talk about this being the worst team disappears. Imagine you are on the team and you find out people are calling you the worst ever? My hope is the players get pissed, close ranks, work, work, work and prove people wrong. I bet the people who have said this is the worst team probably want to be proven wrong. I don't think any fans here want bad for the program. They are just giving their opinion. I have to respect that because I hope people give me my right to have an opinion. Now, OAK RIDGE, YOU GOT THIS, STICK TOGETHER and ROLL BABY ROLL UNTIL THE GAME IS OVER!

  36. I think the Dragons will be fine. It’s not like Randy had a lot to work with after how Kerr ran that program into the ground. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. For the fella who said OR has steadily gotten worse, I will have to disagree. If not for a Catholic team who should’ve been in the private class both years mind you, we have a really good chance of bringing home the gold ball both years. Frankly, they were just a better team than we were, especially on the line of scrimmage both years. And that’s where games are won and lost. While I don’t like what’s going on this season so far, it is wrong to say we have gotten worse. We had really good teams the past 2 years, just not good enough to win it all. At the end of the day, there’s always only 1 team at the end of the season who can make that claim.

  37. Stay the course, brother. Randy knows what he’s doing. Took us from a doormat to 3 Semi Final appearances. He’s getting the facilities in place, the players will come. Good luck to you guys, I know you’re a die hard Dragon.

  38. Good luck this week Oak Ridge. You CAN WIN this game. It is just a matter of believing in yourselves and executing. I do not care if it is a plain old vanilla play, they WILL work executed properly. NOW suck it up and get ready to rumble Friday night. Student body, forget heing and sheing for just a couple of hours and support YOUR team. Your team is not out there just to keep their jocks warm! Put the phones down because face book will still be there after the game. Now unless you are mute, you can at least yell, grunt, burp, or pass gas the other way to support your team. Now where it the Oak Ridge team that caused me to cuss a BUNCH just a few years ago?

  39. That's called success. Built it and they will come from eveywhere. Players put in a lot of work. Some want to have every advantage to play at the next level. It is no different in kids picking the best college to attend in hopes for sucess in live. Regardless where they are from, TSSAA regulates that they move to the City or sit out one year. Inside the County, they can pay tuition and play starting there 9th grade year. If the ultimate goal is to be victorious, Playing for Alcoa is no Secret!!!

  40. I finally figured out the problem... Some of you may remember I predicted Oak Ridge to go 15 - 0. I sort of feel responsible for the bad start, like I jinxed the Wildcats. Well, if I caused the problem I better fix the problem. The problem is not lack of speed and size, positioning of players, scheduling or poor player motivation. The problem is not a new one but an old and goodie... VANILLA!!! Yes, Vanilla. We have been running our most basic of basic plays. The first two games were non Region and had zero playoff ramification. Campbell County is REAL. Time to open up the Offense: Reverses. Double passes. Statue of Liberty. Fumble-rooskie. Break out the Defensive Play Book: All out Blitzes, Cover 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, cover the WRs wearing numbers in the 80s as well, knives, brass knuckles, late hits, steal signs, spike their water bottles and GO NUCLEAR ( only if we HAVE to ). Since I live in Chattanooga, I need someone to pass this along to the team. Thank you. ;

  41. It’s still a long season. Tiger family we have to get behind our team! First win of the season against Hickman county! Last years team started out 1-3 and made it to the semifinals!

  42. Just read a tweet from Hargis ( Chattanooga sports writer ) that said something like this.... The worse thing than an angry fan base is an apathetic fan base. So yell, scream, rant, spit, cuss and hurl just don't stop caring about the Wildcats. The players need our support!

  43. Let’s be real about this game. South Gibson is and should be the favorite. They have played two decent teams and looked great. Have a veteran qb that is smart and makes good decisions and lots of senior leadership on their team. Plus this game is in Medina. Milan got destroyed by Trenton (never got off the bus) and looked better last night but played the west TN school for the blind (Liberty). They showed improvement on defense but still weren’t clicking very well on offense. Libertys qb has an offer from Memphis and Milan did fairly well containing him. But I think a lot of that is the fact that Liberty’s coach (O. Taylor) draws up each play in the dirt right before the team runs it I say it’s a 1 score game and Milan can win but S Gibson is the better team at this point in the season

  47. We cant hit during practice very much just dont have the bodies.Hard to judge until you play a game. This schedule is perfect for this team IF WE CAN STAY HEALTHY because its so dang tough but if we endure we will have all the kinks worked out at the right time. We have been a very good team so long we see it almost automatically. The ave fan not so much and i wont go into much detail here.If YOU watch film you would see it but you also have followed us for a long time as i have you.I will say after the first quarter we looked like a team (other than the penalties) that will be very hard to put out)!

  48. Im thinking of someone else, but it may be the same story. Just no encouragement or ever giving credit. Putting them down to other kids. I remember the best player being on the sidelines for "punishment" for bs stuff , although that player is still playing (#21). Cost several games in a year they never won any. The QB was only 12 and had been a RB prior. . He was new at QB, young, and small but he had a good arm. I think making these kids love the game at that age is huge. THEN maybe they'll keep playing. An occasional "good job" can make all the difference. Those kids never got it.
