I appreciate the discussion from all yall this year on the AP poll topics. It's now playoff time. Looks like some great battles are in store. I hope and pray everyone has safe travels and each team will stay injury free. Regardless of who wins, I'll be at a playoff game each week. I'll also be in Cookeville to support the public schools championship games. 2A is on Thursday this year and 1A is on Saturday. Good luck to everyone.4 points

Ahh... the good ol days. When doors were left unlocked, kids played outside, your hunting rifle was in your truck in the school parking lot, only girls wore dresses and make up and communities and high schools cared about each other.3 points

So Hamm's first set of rankings are out. Lets use this thread to tell him all of his mistakes. Leave the other threads to talking about how Cleveland will beat everybody this year and this one will be specifically where the kids who are on this list really should be. Also, feel free to every five or six comments slip in a "Well if you don't like them then feel free to do your own rankings." and "They are just his opinion." and the always popular, "These aren't official or anything." The rankings can be found HERE1 point

Hard to look at overall records in some cases - for example 5-5 Knox Webb can’t get most area Knoxville schools to play them, so they have to play McCallie & Ensworth & Ashvllle, NC. They lost by 7 to Notre Dame who many think will make the State Championship game. I don’t think teams coming in 4th or 5th in their Region should be in the playoffs, but looking at records alone is sometimes deceiving.1 point

Vandyfan threw the doll away after CA last year. He said it didn’t work. he has moved on to witchcraft. With a name like Salem you should be able to help him out,1 point

Huntingdon won't be able to hang with Cornersville this year. No disrespect intended toward them, it's just a fact. Anyone who is being honest with himself knows it. Greenback will be the only legitimate competition the Bulldogs see all year. Unlike the fans, myself included, these boys do not look past anyone. They will be ready, week after week, to destroy every team that lines up in front of them. See you in Cookeville.1 point

To show how disinterested I am in Forrest's game, I'd almost rather be at this one.1 point

Just like last year. see there is one small difference then last year let's look at this which to me is the best predictability that everyone overlooks. Last year at this point AC scoring was 544-111 This year same point 461-148 So scoring less allowing more. Last year at this point for us Scoring was 406-174 This year same point 440-151 Scoring more giving up less especially considering most points were late against us. So see lets keep on pointing at last year. I look forward to Friday and then Friday.1 point

Umm i cannot believe this I am defending Greeneville. They had a schedule of Strong teams very strong. The teams they scheduled traditionally and will always be strong opponents. Before you start on Betsy they schedule strong as well with the exception of one which was a late pick up because of a 5A school bailing out last minute. Non conference Opponents for Greeneville and Betsy Elizabethton which keep in mind is a 3A school playing up- Science Hill 6A, Daniel Boone, 5A, Tennessee High, 5A. then the late pick up south green. Greeneville - Science Hill 6A , Dobynes Bennett 6A , Pisgah NC , Morristown West 6A Combined Record Non Conference 8-0 Every team listed with the exception of one. The majority of the time are winning their divisions. So before you throw off on these non conference schedules I suggest you do some research.1 point

I was messin with ya bud. Should be a good game. Polk played us good and we played badly most of the game. But at times they can be a pretty decent ball team.1 point

One can tell the playoff season is a bit more lively than regular season. Only week one and the smack is getting thick. Hope some of these new guys have thick skin. Saw where CB10 and General was tag teaming Waverly earlier. Haven’t seen tag teaming like that since the Road Warriors back in the 80’s.1 point

Tradertwo: Whithaven does have a lot of talent. But those D1 talented players are groomed into such. There is a whole other element that goes on as to why Whitehaven has so many players get scholly's. You can blast the coaching if you like for lack of gold balls. That comes with the territory of having so many players get LOIs. However, I will go on to say this. More schools could get their players to get scholarships. They don't have the drive nor the motivation that the coaching staff at Whitehaven has when it comes to this. So ... if Whitehaven doesn't get a gold ball every year and it is deemed that they aren't good coaches. I'lll live with that because of the amount of work that is done in the off season getting players exposed to college coaches. Quite frankly, the Whitehaven coaching staff has proven to be the best there is arond in Tennessee at this. Those D1 offers are earned during the spring and summer every year. It takes a committed coach who travels with his player to the many camps and works with and prepares his players to excell at these events. That stuff doesn't just happen. Winning gold balls and getting players recruited aren't one and the same. They are two very different things. So ... feel free to bash the Whitehaven coaches as incompetent (alluded). It doesn't surprise me. Don't get me wrong. There are Whitehaven fans who want changes and they think that Whitehaven should play in the championship game every year without fail. It was already said that if Whitehaven doesn't get to the championship game this year then this season was a failure. So, the Whitehaven coaches are aware of what is being said. Quite frankly, how may programs have that kind of expectations on their players and coaching staff ... annually? Not many. I think it is a good problem to have.1 point

He is a really good player. Just like several more on that team. They are living in dreamland if they think they aren’t going to miss those kids. I believe they could have 5 all state players.1 point

Yes. To my knowledge the 1st time a defending 6A state champion lost to a 3A school. I have heard a few folks say the win over Maryville didn't mean that much because it was a rivalry game. I was just showing that as great as Maryville has been, the win was significant and can't be dismissed as a fluke or "throw out the record when these teams play" anomaly . It would be disrespectful to both teams. Does that make sense?1 point

Nobody loves injuries, but I have seen a wrench back in golf, high ankle sprain in XC and a bad pulled groin in tennis. This is football, things happen and you better have prepared people ready to go if needed. People usually get hurt when you don't go 100% and you try to protect yourself whether by players or coaches.1 point

Yeah, none of these polls matter, it's all speculative as everyone has a clean slate. In the end though I'm curious as to which of the top 10 gets tossed early. I mean Fairley could lose to Gibson in reality. Im not sure if there any other games that could go either way. Most top 10 teams are expected to romp their week 1 adversaries. Ofcourse anything can happen. Who gets the first sleeper?1 point

I’m looking forward to coming back to Blankenship and eating at Big Ed’s or Dean’s. My eagles have had a down year for sure. We have been plagued with injuries, but after what I seen this past Friday we are getting healthy. We played well against a solid Cane Ridge team. Cane Ridge wasn’t as good as last year’s team no but still a very good football team. We did make some changes on our bye week that seemed to work pretty well against Cane Ridge. The biggest key for Rhea coming into this game is not to turn over the ball. When we do it kills us and has cost us the ball game a few times. We also have to have better play in the second half. We have lost some games by not finishing. We have to play a full game if we are going to have any chance of winning. I’m cautiously optimistic for Rhea, I think both teams match up well on both sides of the ball, but I believe OR has the speed advantage with Graham, Booker, Romano, and Pendergrass. I do think Rhea has the better kicking game from what I have watched. I don’t expect for us to bring as big of a crowd as last time, but we should represent pretty well. That 2014 team and the run we went on was something very special. Its a house divided this week for me. Good luck Oak Ridge. GO EAGLES!1 point

Booker made bad decisions in the Powell game (awful pitches when he should've eaten it). His biggest problem is his inconsistency passing the football...but I love it when the ball is in his hands!1 point
