Very impressed with Powell QB. His accuracy on the long ball was outstanding and the last TD throw was tremendous. The freshman WR # 9 had a tough night for Powell but my goodness that guy has some bigtime talent- can definitely see why high major programs are already all over him. Oak Ridge is much better than a 5-4 record indicates. They have really improved over the course of the year. They can play with and beat anybody in 5A on a given night, IMO.4 points

I'm not trying to argue that one is harder than the other. Like I said earlier, play-by-play can be a tough gig. I've spent enough time in the booth at both the high school and college level to know that a little bit of preparation goes a LONG way. But my goodness, when you listen to many of these DCM broadcasts, it feels like someone simply showed up to the stadium 5 minutes before kickoff, with zero knowledge of the teams on the field, and attempted to do the play-by-play. Maybe I'm just spoiled by HTV, but after working the booth with him for the years that we did, he provided a great example of how you prepare for a broadcast, at any level.2 points

I wish David Clary (OR play by play guy) could do it. None of 'em are as good as ole Dave.2 points

I think Greenback is the perfect model for how to make this work. Kids flocking there and Loudon county has to restrict students from other counties, including Blount county which actually has kids with Greenback addresses inside the blount county line, from attending. If Loudon County removes that restriction about 10-12 more football players from south Blount would be transferring to GB every year. that's about an additional 40 FB players on a 1A football team2 points

I know and understand all points, but some of us DIEHARD fans cannot make weekday games and i know alot of folks who schedule fris off in Fall for games.2 points

y’all have a tough front and a good qb. I didn’t see enough from anyone else to make me think y’all can win against the top 3a teams but I do think you have the talent to compete. Good luck to you all and I hope the bees can make a run1 point

Great game tonight. I was pulling for Oak Ridge because they feel like our brother from another mother over here in Maryville. I swear Jackson reminds me of O.J.Simpson the way he runs. That kid is going to be big time.1 point

I agree about us (OR). I mean, I would’ve loved to win this game, but as young as our team is compared to Powell, I feel good coming out of this game. We just put up nearly 250 yards rushing on arguably the best defense in East Tennessee (at least) in 5A. Whoever plays us better strap it up, because we’re getting better by the week.1 point

He taught so much compassion..honor and integrity to a 2 win season so far. Let me share a secret with you. That don't mean bull crap in Jasper. They will run your butt off if you don't even have losing season. I know!!...All this integrity crap means nothing!!! Win games with whatever you have!!! That's the Jasper way...you don't have to believe me...ask the bigwig back stabbers!! They will smile at him while they dig that knife in his back....all your saying about great coaching is crap to the people that makes decisions!!! Jasper sucks! Don't know tonight score but I'd be surprised the compassionate..integrity mighty warriors will win against Silverdale...thats right...silverdale!!!1 point

Expose T$$AA??? Heck the expose themselves every time they supposedly do an investigation. Just like with other schools in Memphis. If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck then QUACK QUACK.1 point

dumbest post ever. this is so uncreative. @TCRadio i honestly wouldnt waste your time arguing with this rock. Not sure why i'm even taking the time to respond myself. Sounds like he is setting himself up for when Lewis Co. wipes them next week. Laying the foundation for excuses. I personally would love to see the Rockets on the opposite sideline come Cookeville (if TC is blessed with the opportunity) or even W2 next year. I personally know Coach Stephenson and he and his family are great people and want to see him succeed.1 point

FREE schools that follow the rules, work hard to do things the right way. FREE school systems that hire adults that can follow directions and don’t try to cheat the system to get ahead so their children don’t suffer the consequences of greedy adults.1 point

Not sure which one you don't agree with but this was what Blount County small schools were like before being thrown together in a big mixer.1 point

For sure. I grew up listening to David Clary call Oak Ridge games. He’s an icon of Oak Ridge sports radio, imo. Not the same when he isn’t calling the game. Haven’t had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Mayes, but we all know HTV is top notch as well.1 point

Maybe we've just been spoiled with guys like Dave Clary, Russell Mayes, and HTV, but there are people in the community who would be an upgrade.1 point

That's just the nature of the beast. Another decent Region 5 team will not make the playoffs. Possibly Mt Pleasant. But with all they had returning have no one to blame but themselves. I'm not a fan of the Zplan. I make no bones about it. I'd rather see teams make the playoffs according to the games the TSSAA mandates they HAVE to play instead of teams scrambling to find easy wins. Not a perfect format and honestly what would be?1 point

Haven't met many that are. Austin Price is just as bad. To his credit, it's a pretty nice production, but I'm old school and prefer to let the game speak for itself1 point

Just wanted to clarify the statement above. I know govolsknox knows what I meant by "SOB" but others might think that means something else. Coach Mark Bradley (Rusty's Dad) has been affectionately known for years as "Sweet Old Bradley" thus the SOB reference. SweetOldBradley is actually his Twitter handle, as well. Several teams around Knoxville have opted to move their games to Thursday night due to the rain that's scheduled to arrive tomorrow night. I don't see this being a lightning event that would delay a ballgame, so no real need to move the games, IMO. I think the schools that moved their games are soft and I hope they all go into 4 OT's and keep the fans and kids at the school until after midnight. That will be fun getting up in the morning for work/school1 point

I’m sorry our girls will be playing on Thursday in their annual powder puff games. High School Football is for FRIDAY. some cases move it but rain? Lightning yes, tornado yes but rain?1 point

Correct. 3rd round which is very good for 1-9 team last year. Much props and respect for the turnaround1 point

Fayetteville has a nice looking team but a December team they're not. They make too many mistakes throughout their games I've seen them play. And a lack of a passing game will hurt them down the road. Their QB has been hobbled most of the year and yet they seem to be more comfortable and better suited running out of the wildcat package. Just my opinion and I'm sure Varo's mileage will vary.1 point

Yikes, I doubt OR can keep it close if Powell scores 35. Our offense probably would have little time on the field. I am hoping for a score like 22 - 21 Oak Ridge. Keys for OR are the usual ones: 1. Block & Tackle 2. Always get back up when knocked down 3. Limit turnovers 4. Powell picks up a lot of penalties. They had a bunch of penalty yards against West.1 point

Rutgerson is a phenomenal athlete for GB! He hasn’t stood out necessarily in one position this season, but that is not because of lack of ability. They play Rutgerson all over the field and he has shown to be dangerous at all of them! He is great out of the backfield, he can pull in tough catches and make big plays when they spread him out, and he has proven that he is more than capable to take snaps behind center. He is also lethal when returning kicks. Not to mention that he is a lockdown DB! Willis and Carnes are great ball players and I do not mean to take anything away from them, but Rutgerson has not received near the recognition that he deserves for his performances this season. The GB squad is more than solid and should make their way deep into the playoffs, if not bring home a golden ball!1 point

I'm betting Roy has some questions for you to ask that Ryan man. I'll sit back and wait.1 point

Great talent and player. But, if Carnes didn't transfer to Greenback would he have these numbers? I don't think so. That's why I have Carnes winning it because he is so important to Greenback.1 point
