Not Trolling....I have always visited the 1A threads every time I am on Coach T because I love the smaller community schools, there is so much more passion for these teams. For many years I have respected SP and their program, it was on my bucket list to attend a SP / Marion game and a few years back I drove two hours to see that game and even though I didn't know a soul it was one of the best HS environments I have ever witnessed. I have been coming to the 1A boards long enough to know that SP has been accused of doing very similar things that you and Roy have spent two months accusing GB of doing. At the end of the day, if you have a great program there are going to be outside kids and families that want to be a part of it, and if those families are willing to make the move within the rules of TSSAA, I don't know of any school that is going to turn them down. I am sure SP has benefitted from transfers on more than one occasion because a kid and his family wanted to be a part of a great program, so why do you see the need to do all the bashing that you have done because kids want to be a part of GB. I will bow out of the conversation and let you go back to doing what you feel like you need to do. Good day....

Absolutely. They were big, fast, always in position, and swarmed the ball in numbers. When they got to you, they delivered a shot, and the rest didn't take it for granted that their teammate had the tackle made, they wanted to hit you before the whistle blew too. Very few teams that I've ever seen in person could check all the boxes that I've mentioned without leaving the impression that they "played dirty" or would cheap shot someone if they had the chance, but the Tigers were classy in the way they went about business... I'm sure that there's film still out there on them from '16 if you want to see it for yourselves. We (SH) had a very potent offense that year and managed only two touchdowns in two games against them.

Seems more like a fair question than hate. The last few playoffs haven't been good to PC.

I agree with this. That kid had huge stats. I don’t know about the kids from the west but I’d venture to say Greenback’s guy is the best QB in 1A. I stopped trying to figure it out the year Eddie Moore didn’t win it for SP though.

If we are trucking along with ease against Melrose, I would hope that they do not play him. I agree with you both, with Winfrey earlier in the season, the defense was the best I’ve seen at Covington. The defense is still dang good and he’s just 1 guy. But healthy, he’s scary good at that MLB position and does make a difference.

Covington started this season playing better football on the defensive side of the ball than they had the last two years. Losses to Milan and South Gibson County can be tied directly to the knee injury suffered by Caleb Winfrey. With Winfrey healthy at linebacker, IMHO Covington would now be undefeated and rolling along. That is strictly my opinion. He was unable to stay in the game last week vs. McNairy county, and came out limping. Milan and SGC both beat us with Winfrey on the sideline. So, the question is whether Coach JR Kirby and staff have made enough adjustments on both sides of the ball to defeat either SGC or Milan if we meet again in the playoffs. The Chargers only lost by a single TD to each of them, so it's not impossible. The Chargers would have to tune up our offense enough to account for the loss of stopping power on the defensive side of the ball. We scored 37 against a pretty good McNairy County team last week. Of course, all the discussion is moot if the Chargers don't defeat Melrose tomorrow. I'm just saying that you shouldn't write off the Chargers quite yet.

To go ahead and get it out of the way, I have had an account on here before way back but decided to make a new one, so this will be my first post. You all can go ahead and heckle me with the "newbie" comments. I don't mind. lol Now with that out of the way, I have watched CB all year and saw Gordy play Monterey. I saw that G-Ville likes to play a loose cover 0 and bring pressure with the backers. I think this could come back to hurt them against basin. I seen a lot of Monterey receivers get behind the Gordonsville secondary but the qb wasn't able to make them pay. I think the cougars have a better receiving core than Monterey and the qb will be able to make these throws that Monterey missed on. It will be tough to play man to man against the basin passing attack. Pressure will be key for Gordonsville. If they, can get after the qb they may be able to play the cover 0. Offensively, g-ville has the size and physicality upfront to move the cougars and run the ball. #6 is a game breaker and will have to be contained. Overall though, I think the cougars will win this game, but its going to be a shoot out. I will predict 40-32 Basin. Also, whoever wins this game will make it to the quarter finals to play the pirates because I was not impressed with Monterey at all. I think G-ville would've won easily if it hadn't been for turnovers last week.

Let me stress IF Tyner has a weak spot the film I watched showed it could be a supposedly young line. IF westmoreland keeps it close they will have to play their best football.

Doesnt matter what we do in the East... West and middle think they run things Greene Devils have mercy ruled middle and west in all 4 state championships... Alcoa and Maryville are mainstays... South Pitt/Greenback/Fulton/Catholic etc but yet the still think they run the state

The key to this game is Summertown’s offense. I’m not sure Summertown can throw enough to beat Waverly. The coaches have really done a great job at adjusting for the run. But the pass defense is still suspect. I also don’t see any great athlete that’s going to break big runs on Waverly in Summertown. We will run it down their throat. Doc Oc will have a big game!

I'm a TC fan and I agree with you Watertown should be rank higher than TC. My guess is that they are pushing Watertown for the 2 losses.

Pretty sure this is his fourth year as the head coach at Jeff Co. He was there in 2016 when I worked the Maryville at JeffCo game, and if memory serves that was his first year back there.

With us having new coaches and young men that didn’t get that much playing time at the skill level everyone is learning even the coaches. We are a decent team I think the playoff games for us is going to be really tough. Thats how I feel and I just hope we play our best that’s all we can do or ask for.

Jefferson County has the same problem we have in Blount County where people show up at the voting pole and put the same old crooks back into office. You can't expect something different if you keep doing the same ole thing. Half the people that show up to vote don't even know who is running or a thing about them and a few don't even know why their even there.
